We were in Dublin last week and visited the National Library's Yeats exhibit. I loved hearing this poem in the Verse and Vision room. Your interpretation is lovely as well.

Thank you for posting this lovely reading - years ago I read this poem to my father, and when I looked up on finishing, he had tears rolling down his cheeks - such sad beauty.
It wasn't until you said "fire" that I heard the Irish - I'd just listened to the Easter Rising poem and was convinced I could catch a touch of Richard Burton......................! !!
I only found your channel recently and am completely enthralled. Thank you so much for your beautiful readings. I was enchanted by Yeats' "When You Are Old," a favorite since I was young (although I constantly remind myself I'm younger now than I'm ever going to be again). If you take requests, I would love to hear you read Yeats' "A Drinking Song." My late husband recited it to me for many years.

this might be my favorite poem at the moment. the simplicity of the manner in which the poem is conveyed doesn't undermine it effectiveness.
