They have been reversing restoration works of the 19th century that actually damaged the building. They basically took the building apart because piece by piece and reassembled it. By the time that finishes we’re gonna have a more 3D perspective of what the temple looked like.

Hi from Greece, there are old Greeks living in Greece, born and raised, that have never even seen a picture of the Acropolis much less visit the actual place, true story !
Thank you for this in-depth tour of the Acropolis! You did a wonderful job explaining each site and the history behind it. There's actually a life-size replica of the Parthenon model you saw at 8:07 in US (Nashville, TN). I've been there twice and it's amazing. There's even a replica of Athena Parthenos sculpture inside!

Welcome to Greece !!! Hope you enjoy your time here and i wish you could enjoy it in a different times than the current situation. Thank you for such lovely reprasentation of our Historical and Cultural monuments! Parthenon ,indeed, was taken over by many different religions ( I think that you are the first aknowledging that on RUclips) and, unfortunatelly, also bombarded by the Venetians at 1687.
@Prec1cs Epar Hellas it's the formal name for our country, yes. However ,the other countries, unfortunately, knows us only by Greece. I used the informal but widely known name for that reason.
WOW this was more interesting the farther you went here. Amazing to look at and try to put in mind what some of the buildings looked like intact. Tell me, did you feel safe around the ruins and felt OK going under some of those very old roofs? I'm sure you were, but I think I would have been looking out the side of my eye at some of those cracks.. As always, you shared some very good sights, and looking forward to many more... Thanks, Alina!!
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes, I felt very safe. We weren't really doing into any of the actual structures other than the first official gate, but I'm sure they've refurbished it for people to be using it. Very cool experience to see history come alive!
Welcome to Greece. 😀 4:36 Hey I can see my home from up there, at the hillside in the background. ( If you had a telescopic lense and zoomed in 😉) Real fact : Parthenon was almost intact until 1687 that Francesco Morosini fired his cannons at it because the Turks were hidding about 500 barrels of gun powder in there. One bomb went through the ceiling and exploded the powder destroying the temple making it the ruins we see today....😕 Nice to see you enjoying yourself at our country! Beware of the hot sun though.... Edit : my Godfather lives in Canada for the last 30 years. 😊

Great videos!! Enjoy my beautiful country... Another big reason there aren't large crowds besides corona is that August is the main month Greeks take vacation time and head out to the islands hence a quieter city.
I feel so lucky to have visited Athens in February, as all my other trips for 2020 have subsequently been cancelled. But what is a City break like under Covid Alina? Just in and out of cafes, restaurants, museums or castles, do people keep their distance, does it feel safe..??
It would have been nice to have heard a super quick 15-second special mention to the stolen Parthenon Marbles and Greece’s decades-long efforts to get them back from the British Museum. Regardless, nice video. It felt like strolling along with you, so I guess the purpose of the video was served.
Good afternoon (in Athens), Alina! Thanks for capturing and sharing the wonders of the Acropolis! The ancient Greeks have left us an amazing historical legacy, including the concept of Democracy: 'demos' - the people; 'kratos' - power or rule. That's what the people of Belarus are struggling for today! Sunny ancient Athens is incredibly beautiful! Visiting Greece is near the top of my 'bucket list'. Be happy, safe, and healthy, Alina!!!
In Belarus, Western countries, the CIA, the US state Department and, as always, the ideologue of all orange coups Soros are trying to stage a coup in the country and thus detach Belarus from Russia. I hope Mr Putin will stop this bacchanalia. Stop calling the invasion of the West a democratic choice everyone has long known who and what is behind it and what awaits that country. There are no fools who believe you.
This video is well organized and it is strange that it is not so crowded. When I was there it was very crowded all the time. I love Athens and I went the old Acropolis museum next to Parthenon. I love new Acropolis but I could not take photos in the one section. Archeological Museum is also very nice. There are several musems you cannot miss such as Museum of Cycladic Art, Archeological Site of Karameikos Cemetroy and Benaki Museum of Islamic Art. It is very lovely city to visit.
It's so surreal feeling that i was just there admiring all these treasures 2 weeks ago. Greece is Amazing, i think it my new favourite country, the history, the food and most especially, Greek people are so nice and welcoming. You should also visit Delphi and Meteora. It's really amazing. I booked with "Key Tours" 2 day tour from Athens. Fabulous hotel and 2 meals are included in the price (€148). They are really good. Totally worth it. We passed by a really beautiful mountain city near Delphi called Arachova. So picturesque. If i go back to Greece i will definitely visit there. 🙏❤
At least, it looks like You are the only one who constantly keeps a safe distance. Of course, I understand that this is a kind of habit from ordinary life, but still 😄 Really hot episode & strong RUclipsr. Even Menander looks a little destroyed by that heat. Well, it sounds to me like cicadas are the second danger for visitors there, as well as in Tokyo in summer. Especially if you stay there for a long time, You know 🎶 😅 It's funny how the theater echoes another of your favorite things, if You remember what Dionysos specialized in. The sad fact is that we allowed such an attitude to the cultural treasury of our European civilization (& all humanity) and still cannot live in peace and harmony even within the European family. Anyways, no doubt, even in such a badly destroyed condition, it`s absolutely spectacular area. The view from the museum is also great, both from the rooftop cafe and from the inside, thanks to that glass wall like in the airport. I hope, piece by piece, all this will be restored and at least our children or grandchildren will be able to enjoy this beauty in its original form. AMazing video with bonus in the form of another beautiful shot from your Heraklion photo session. Thank You very much! ❤️ 🇬🇷 P.S.: You know, it's moment like someone else has clicked on your RUclips channel`s bell icon - 13:12 🔔
Wow , Athens looks beautiful especially when you get to enjoy it without the large crowds. So jealous...

Alina another beautiful vedio from Greece is absolutely fantastic as like you .
Glad you were able to see it without any construction. I actually nearly fell to my death taking a picture here!
I really love your enjoyable videos and Canadian accent, I'm learning English by watching your videos
Great videos!! Enjoy my beautiful country... Another big reason there aren't large crowds besides corona is that August is the main month Greeks take vacation time and head out to the islands hence a quieter city.
Hopefully be out there next week, bar no new quarantine measures from the uk. By the way good luck in your travels and stay safe!
I love you Alina! I'm from Toronto and I wish I had met you 🙂 I'm so happy to see these vlogs
You have a very nice vlog about Greece! I am Greek, and this was a great guide! Thumbs up! Hope you had a great stay !
Thank you! I had a wonderful time!
Its amazing isn't it. We've just left Athens and seeing the amazing sites with so few people is great.
Thanks for the video series. Your trip is actually more pleasant due the pandemic.
I feel so lucky to have visited Athens in February, as all my other trips for 2020 have subsequently been cancelled. But what is a City break like under Covid Alina? Just in and out of cafes, restaurants, museums or castles, do people keep their distance, does it feel safe..??
Good MORNING ATHENS AND FIRST OLYMPIC IN ATHENS THATS BEAUTIFUL HISTORIC PLACE AMAZING ARCHITECTURE
Awesome video 👍🏼
It would have been nice to have heard a super quick 15-second special mention to the stolen Parthenon Marbles and Greece’s decades-long efforts to get them back from the British Museum. Regardless, nice video. It felt like strolling along with you, so I guess the purpose of the video was served.
pes ta file!!
Great video Alina!! But.. a cappucino? in Athens? During summer?
Lol it’s what I really wanted
Alina, I love your videos. I was in Athens so long ago. The music is stunning too!
Thank you so much!
We could not have asked for a more charming Canadian tourist. :)
Do not forget the people of USA, France, Catalonia, Bolivia , Ecuador, and many other places are struggling for today, tomorrow, yesterday e.t.c.
@@vknfriendly Putin is a weasel just like Trump. The two of them belong in a jail cell together.
@@peterhalloumis9291 Of course, there are multiple struggles for democracy throughout the world at this time. Efcharistó (ευχαριστώ).
Your videos full of enjoyable and informative..video so nyc
Thank you!
This video is well organized and it is strange that it is not so crowded. When I was there it was very crowded all the time. I love Athens and I went the old Acropolis museum next to Parthenon. I love new Acropolis but I could not take photos in the one section. Archeological Museum is also very nice. There are several musems
you cannot miss such as Museum of Cycladic Art, Archeological Site of Karameikos Cemetroy and Benaki Museum of Islamic Art.
Another excellent episode. Always wanted to go there myself
Great tour...big fan of Greek food!
At least, it looks like You are the only one who constantly keeps a safe distance. Of course, I understand that this is a kind of habit from ordinary life, but still 😄
Really hot episode & strong RUclipsr. Even Menander looks a little destroyed by that heat. Well, it sounds to me like cicadas are the second danger for visitors there, as well as in Tokyo in summer. Especially if you stay there for a long time, You know 🎶 😅
It's funny how the theater echoes another of your favorite things, if You remember what Dionysos specialized in. ❤️ 🇬🇷
P.S.: You know, it's moment like someone else has clicked on your RUclips channel`s bell icon - 13:12 🔔
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Always good music. :)
Not really... we were there too!! Was expecting to find us somewhere on your videos. What a wonderful experience!
