Great video, great subject matter. The guy hammering on the rusty roof looking up at it around 37:45 will regret not wearing safety glasses when he gets a small piece of rust in his eye.
Glad you got the whole truck, just proves no matter the condition, you can breath some life into them...the new guy, seems to have some drive, does pretty good work!!
The crunched fender transformation just blew away ! As a person not good with tools and I really marvel at what some people can do. I know that it wasn't perfect but he did ok
-- Oh for the love of Dave... this video showed nothing more than epic levels of butchery! Clearly, you wouldn't know talent if it came up and slapped you in the back of the head. 🤦🏻♂️ - Max Giganteum
What ever youre payin this Clay fella, he earned to pass the probation in this video for sure. Give that man a raise! Lol Really impressed on the body work to the fender, awesome! No way id be able to do that and im a journeyman welder ffs lol glad you had the patience for that.
Ya gotta love how the new guy goes from MR SAFETY with welding coat, gloves, safety glasses and torch shield to NOTHING when they bring it in for the front doors.
What I love about this video is that I have the same nebb shit perspective that I'd have if I showed up at the garage in person! As a former member of the United States Army and a current telephone company employee, I love all the history being saved from the shredder here!
The first fire engine I was assigned to was a 1942 Ford COE with a Marmon-Harrington four wheel drive conversion. It had a 4 speed tranny, V-8 and was a "crew cab" design and in the summer it got so hot in the cab back seat occupants would frequently get sick.
For rusted any thing metal a 50:50 mixture of acetone and ATF in a spray bottle Work every time. Works on mixed metals aluminum on steel nuts and bolts white metal on steel just about anything. Piston rings soak for 48 hrs. Most other stuff over night.
First time I've watched your videos. Love how you just do the work without trying to entertain us. You've done a lot of very difficult work on this COE. There must be a price point that makes it worth your while to do all that before shipping it to a customer.
Looks like the one I found in Nebraska years ago. It was used for rural electrification setting poles for wiring up the country side and all the rural farmers.
New guy seems pretty motivated but you cannot use a cutting torch or grinder without eye protection. Your eyes are pretty important. Who hasn't had a blow back when using a cutting torch?? Simple safety!!!!!!!! Maybe not a good idea to weld the hinges onto the body.....................
I can tell you why 41 was the only year for chrome. In late 41 something happened and everything was olive drab with no chrome until summer of 1945. I bet a few people can remember. Hint - they refer to it as WW 2.
My father was a Pearl Harbor survivor. We stopped mass producing motor vehicles for the public in favor of military equipment....planes, tanks, half-tracks, Jeeps, etc. The first Liberty Ship built took 230 days to complete and by 45 we were pumping out 4 a day. A unique era and people remembered as the greatest generation
Split rims are dangerous what ever shape. Someone getting killed or injured was common. Many years ago govrtnment(?) had a film showing one under a vw beatle blowing apart lifting it into the air. My brother was one that has nearly died. The tire fell and blew apart.
Those drums could have been saved. Your mechanic tightened the adjuster fully , before trying anything, totally locking it into place! Rare and cool old Ford.
So just gonna mention something here. A wire brush on a drill or the 12" hand variety makes life with steel that age like new . Brush it clean add some lube and you'll suspect it was last undone a month ago. Hammer the drum adjacent to the disc that connects the hub!
In Colombia South America these cabover people used to called them: Tuki, Tuki due to the sound on the engine! They say that the sound was, Tuki, Tuki, Tuki, Tuki, Tuki!!😂😂
I love all this . I also think clay is great. But clay please wear safety glasses . I'm not big gloves and I do light to heavy vehicle fab . I've had my eyes drilled multiple times . Just worried about you bud. Keep up the good work
I would hold on to that old ignition lock set up make it harder to steal & pulling lock core running a thin file through the slots it's not bad to make a key for one

Very true
Saw the Torch come out early, I'm thinking 'He isn't gonna...'
And damned if he did!!
The crunched fender transformation just blew away ! As a person not good with tools and I really marvel at what some people can do. I know that it wasn't perfect but he did ok
Clay is a very talented young man. He worked his magic on every aspect of that beautiful truck. Thanks for saving it intact.

Awesome ! No scripted drama. This is how all should be.
Love this truck, I hope whoever buys this has a channel to watch this baby come back to life. New guy knows his stuff!!
What ever youre payin this Clay fella, he earned to pass the probation in this video for sure. Give that man a raise! Lol

The kid did a great job on that fender !!
Man, that is gonna be one sweet rig first crew cab I’ve ever seen and the grill is fantastic looking on it
Ya gotta love how the new guy goes from MR SAFETY with welding coat, gloves, safety glasses and torch shield to NOTHING when they bring it in for the front doors.
The guy doing all the work needs his own RUclips channel. I would subscribe.
What I love about this video is that I have the same nebb shit perspective that I'd have if I showed up at the garage in person! As a former member of the United States Army and a current telephone company employee, I love all the history being saved from the shredder here!
Hard worker, Clay. Good to have him aboard 👍

Ese trabajador vale oro!! Saludos desde Montevideo Uruguay!!!
Saludos Nicolas! Vocês tem joias como este lá no Uruguay?! Tu conhece o canal no youtube COE garage? ruclips.net/video/3suGJ-et3fQ/видео.html
Such classic lines and styling. Still LOTS of work to be done. Would love to see that occur and what it'll looks like when finished.
Clay's philosophy: "It can't be stuck if it's liquid"
100%
Clay in a fantastic addition to your crew!
I think so too!
Can't believe you're cutting grinding banging throwing stuff around those other nice cars but they are yours carry on guys stay safe

It don't need a paint job the whole weathered rustic look is a true classic for a truck that was built to last
You can always cut them centers out of those wheels and weld them in some late model wontons
Looks like the one I found in Nebraska years ago. It was used for rural electrification setting poles for wiring up the country side and all the rural farmers.
Them old school trucks are very cool hop something great comes from it
Look fwd to seeing more of this Ford COE
Wow cool truck
Great video grandpa and grandson working on the car 👍
New guy seems pretty motivated but you cannot use a cutting torch or grinder without eye protection. Your eyes are pretty important. Who hasn't had a blow back when using a cutting torch?? Simple safety!!!!!!!! Maybe not a good idea to weld the hinges onto the body.....................
As I watch your people work their magic, health and safety needs to improve to keep them around.
Welcome to the crew, Clay!!
I could watch this guy work all day, who is he and where did he come from?

@@richardashcraft7200😊
you have a find in Clay what a talented young man
I am curious why the brake drums were cut off. I could not see that any attempt was made to remove them before going to the torch.
That's some Heavy Iron there, Son!!
Built Ford Tough!! Great video here!
Great video! This is why I watch your channel ,you make stuff happen and keep the talk to a minimum . Again great video keep it up.👍👍
I appreciate that!
Exactly ! Real man shop. Not like all the goofy ass drama TV or Motortrend crap.
Wow had no idea they made crew cabs in the 40's
gran trabajo amigos gracias por compartir el video saludos desde Argentina
i love watching history saved for everyone
That 'new' dude is shop GOLD.
This COE is an excellent find! This will be an awesome vehicle some day!
You really need to invest in a plasma cutter. Also, use larger hose with big pneumatic guns - they need air volume to work optimally.
Dang, very rare truck! Good find!
Felistasiones a los grandes maestros mecánicos favulosos estraordinario maravilloso saludos cordiales dé la república de Chile
Great find!
That scene with the guy trying to slam the doors shut!
Those drums could have been saved. Your mechanic tightened the adjuster fully , before trying anything, totally locking it into place! Rare and cool old Ford.
This was his first truck he worked on at the shop. From almost a year ago lot has changed since then. Awesome truck though that’s true
That is a thing of great beauty!
Would be cool to put a unimog frame and the portal axles under it . Make a 4x4 camper !!
wow!you have taken on one heck of a job.good luck
I like these old trucks. Form follows function designing...

I would stretch out the whole front clip forward 4 ft.widen the grille aswell. 😂
The former greatness of the country...
I would love a COE turned into a pickup truck
Indeed it's iron city garage. Thanks
You bet
Great video and thanks for sharing.
Funny when you said “I’m gonna get that old iron off there, nobody wants that”. Steve Darnell would leave it on and use it. !!! Great content guys
Left handed lug nut threads ? Was that a thing? Love this cab.
Yep!
Cool, the door works!
Woooow ! What a Relic ! 😮👍🏻
Very interesting 🤔 content. Thanks 🙏 for sharing.
I love all this . I also think clay is great. But clay please wear safety glasses . I'm not big gloves and I do light to heavy vehicle fab . I've had my eyes drilled multiple times . Just worried about you bud. Keep up the good work
Love your work!
Glad you enjoy it!
I had hoped to see it drive again.
I have seen winch arrangements like that on military trucks that operated barrage baloons
Wow I guess I'm going to have to stop by and visit you some day Pete, haven't seen you since I left API
Kool vid and wrenching fellas those old trucks are pretty kool lookin 🤘

Clay needs to watch "Shake hands with danger".
Watching here and full support
Looks like that’s truck’s steering column needs a visit from “Baron Von Hammer Smack” !
I would hold on to that old ignition lock set up make it harder to steal & pulling lock core running a thin file through the slots it's not bad to make a key for one
LITTLE TLC AND SHE'S GOOD AS NEW!
Where's Clay's PPE? Dude does awesome work, good addition!
