      A lot of bands in the late 60s and on were amazing. The Beatles definitely were not the only ones but without the Beatles it’s doubtful that any of them would receive the recognition that they did. The Beatles opened the door.

      @@williamcabell142 you seem to not appreciate the mood of the country after JFK was assassinated. The Beatle Mania began shortly after and spread worldwide. How we act and talk today was a result of the influence the Beatles had on society. The drug culture is one, heart surgery another. If you don't know how, then you ain't so smart.

    I'm 64, and grew up with them from the very start. You are exactly correct in saying they did it right, by breaking up when they did..They did it all perfectly. Especially when you consider that they all had successful after-lives...I experienced it all, even at the young age that I was..In Feb. of '64, when they were on The Ed Sullivan Show (I remember it vividly) I was just 2 months shy of 7 yrs. old. Even at that age I knew what we were seeing was beyond special...I couldn't imagine growing up without them, to be honest.

      I think at one point Paperback Writer was included on a compilation album. I remember my mom having it when I was a kid. Maybe they confused it with Taxman or something in the video. On a side note my dad had a 68 GTO he bought new. Gave it to me at 17. Then I bought another a few years ago.

    Btw, it WAS NOT Yoko Ono who was responsible for their breakup..It was just time for them. People erroneously scapegoated her. They just outgrew the whole band situation..They wanted to strike out on their own, (with the possible exception of Paul, but I think he understood it in the end, too) and not be restricted and tied to the others for the rest of their lives..Perfectly understandable.

    • @boosuedon
      @boosuedon 3 года назад +1

      Yes, but her consistently butting into the Beatles creative process didn't help at all! Girlfriends and wives never came to rehearsals until Yoko, and John didn't have the backbone to say NO! None of the other three liked or had any appreciation for Yoko's input. It was bullshit!

    • @sjd5750
      @sjd5750 3 года назад +2

      @@boosuedon John wanted her there..Blame him, then..I don't hear anyone say "John caused the breakup, for bringing Yoko there"..If you really want to blame someone it would be John because he was looking for a way out more than anyone else..however, I'm not even going to blame John. It was just time, is all. Nobody's to blame. It was done because it was time, period...If it makes you feel better than go ahead, blame Yoko. I just think it's nonsense.

    I will never forget that horrible night that John Lennon was killed. That whole week, exam week at my college, Central Michigan University was just a train wreck. It was my senior year in college and I did survive. But John's death cast a pall over that whole time. It also was final confirmation that the Beatles would never be together again. Such makes events like Paul's Dodger Stadium concert and Ringo's surprise appearance to perform Sergeant Pepper's reprise and Helter Skelter oh so very significant and treasures to hold onto.

    To their credit, after that Florida show, all of their contracts had a "no segregation" clause written into them. You should listen to the two songs they made for the Anthology albums. Free As A Bird and Real Love were written and recorded on cassette tape by John Lennon. The other three Beatles got together with Jeff Lynne as producer and provided full backup and orchestration for them.

    And now, you know the rest of the story. One thing that was left out, was that The Beatles gave back their Britsh Medals on account of the uproar from other award winners,(mainly war veterans), who thought it was out side the award's rules. EMI Records,(British) and Capital Records,(American), had a deal to put out Beatle albums. But there must have been some clause in the contract that allowed them each to decide which songs they would or would not want to include on each album.

    this failed to mention Yellow Submarine song was a a hit single of off Revolver album, and several other singles were not mentioned. The fact that the Beatles held the top 5 spots in a row in hit singles on April 4, 1964, apparently a record that has never been broken, and skips a few other crucial details but otherwise a good synopsis. this is a good starting point for those not born in the era or not familiar with the Beatles much to understand how they evolved, how to judge their music not on "simple love songs for teenager" vs. more complicated songs later, and studio production compared to "today's technology." The Beatle material taken out of revolutionary and historical context is ridiculous. How can anyone sell 800 million records over this long a period and not be extremely talented, live, without computer help, blah blah, judging them in the present terms, as so many numbskulls do, failing to understand how they led the way for others?

    Nice comments from you Cymdy, about the Beatles eventual breakup and that being a good thing. I sure agree. I have read that although they were aware that the end was coming for them as the Beatles, during final publicity photo sessions there were still smiles and laughter, and glimmers of comradeship.
    And as Lennon wistfully remarked many years later, they all realized that at some point one just needs to leave old friends at the bar -- and go away with new people and experiences. Paul has also said that they'd all discovered new people in their lives.
    RE: the "concept album" that the Beatles made popular with "Sergeant Peppers," I was a bit disappointed that the maker of this video did not display the Beach Boys "Pet Sounds" album ... which was not "officially" a concept album (it predated "Sergeant Peppers") but has all the earmarks of being just that.

    Hey Cimdy, it's so cool watching this brief history about them. There's lots of documentaries out there and check them out. If you'd like to watch a good docudrama of sorts about their early start check out "The Birth of the Beatles" (1979), a Dick Clark production where they have somewhat look-alike actors playing the Fab Four. They do their parts well. It begins 1959 not long after John, Paul and George hooked up. There are some things changed a bit for dramatic purposes, but it's still a good movie and the only one there on the topic. @ 28:44 Wow. What you said there about each one, heart, mind, glue... that's awesome Cimdy. There is a line in this movie almost exactly like what you said there! Have you seen it already? @ 29:25 As it turns out, Pete Best was a consultant on The Birth of the Beatles, too. It contains a lot of his perspective. Maybe you should do a react video on it someday, and the A Hard Day's Night movie. You'd be the first. ✌️😎

    This is a good but very general synopsis. Things were missed, unintentionally misleading, and a few inaccuracies. That's ok though. When we saw them on Ed Sullivan back then, we knew there was something special despite us being so young. We were transfixed. It's all we talked about the next. Over the years we continued to be enthralled with each new release. Meanwhile, there were a lot of really good groups to choose from. It was great to be surrounded by so much good music. These other groups were trying their darnedest to keep up with the Beatles so there was a lot of experimentation. Unfortunately, 'Sgt Pepper...' pretty much left everyone in the dust permanently. John Lennon had apparently been quoted at one time that the Beatles music would still be played 100 years from then. Over 50 years later, it looks like he was right.
    They had to be the perfect storm. None of them could read or write music. At the time, none of them were really virtuosos on their instruments. They ran into producer George Martin, the most likely candidate for the 'Fifth Beatle' title. He WAS a very skilled musician and knew his way around a recording studio. If any single member had not come together (no pun intended) to form this collective, it would have been a story with much lesser results. We will never see anything like this every again. I feel sorry for those that didn't live during those times to experience the magic. But it is fantastic that people like yourself are not afraid to delve into these old songs. Did I say old? They are timeless actually. A great number of them still sound fresh in the modern world. What was their secret? John was asked this and answered, 'If we knew, we’d get together four boys with long hair and be managers'.

    The sad truth is, Non of this is actually true. The Beatles were taken over as a project by Tavistock. And since 1967 im 100% sure its not Paul McCartney....its Billy Shears. Compare them playing live during the early 60s with their studio work. The Beatles did not write all their songs and its not them playing everything on the albums. Its just a complete lie that we have been told and im a massive fan still. Theres some dark occult stuff going on in the Beatles story. They want us to believe they wrote and recorded full albums in like a few days. Sorry....especially in that time, considered how good it all sounds. They were part of the whole ''social engineering'' of the 60s along with the psychedelics, hippie movement, feminism movement. It sounds crazy and nuts but non of the official Beatles story makes any sense when you really dig deep. The whole Youth Culture was a way to re-design society through young adults and kids. If anyone is interested in this, watch ''Sage Of Quay'' on YT and Bitchute! They stopped touring after 1966 because of Billy Shears.

      @@michaelmelling9333 (1) The date and place of John and Paul's meeting is correct, but it was planned, with Paul invited along by schoolfriend Ivan Vaughan, to see another friend of his, John, perform, with the thought in Ivan's head they just may get along. (2) Bert Kaempfert signed them to a recording contract with Polydor to back Tony Sheridan on record, he was never involved in any capacity with their live shows. (3) Brian Epstein was never a music journalist, the closest he got was having a column in the “Mersey Beat” paper commenting on the new releases that could be bought from his store. (4) Their 6 June 1962 session at EMI Studios on Abbey Road for Parlophone was an audition; their contract with the label was signed a few weeks later. (5) Epstein had them in suits and being more professional on stage by the end of 1961, not 1962. (6) "'Please Please Me' had two more huge hits, 'From Me to You' and 'She Loves You'...” Not only was neither on the 'Please Please Me' album, both were written and recorded after it had been released. (7) They were being called the 'Fab Four' by July 1963, months before 'With The Beatles' came out. (8) The 'Twist and Shout' LP was released by Canadian Capitol, their equivalent of the UK 'Please Please Me' album. It was never released by Capitol in the US because they had turned down 'Please Please Me' and the rights to the album belonged to Vee Jay Records and others; though Capitol did import some of the Canadian records. (9) If you're gonna point to Beatles domination on the US Billboard in April 1964, I mean, yeah, 14 singles quite impressive; more impressive though, 4 April chart, even if only 12 singles, they have the whole Top 5. (10) The singles from 'A Hard Day's Night' were the title track and 'Can't Buy Me Love'. Three of the four they list (missing US #1 'Can't Buy Me Love') were Capitol cash-in singles not approved of by The Beatles, while the instrumental version of 'And I Love Her' was by The George Martin Orchestra, not The Beatles. (11) Again, 'Yesterday' was a US single not approved by the band. (12) 'Rubber Soul' was not an album they took their time with, it was a hurried four weeks to get it out in time for Christmas, with them overdubbing a 'Help!' outtake ('Wait') to make up the numbers. (13) 'We Can Work It Out' is not on 'Rubber Soul'. (14) 'Paperback Writer' wasn't on 'Revolver'. (15) Apple released many people other than The Beatles, including Mary Hopkin, Badfinger, James Taylor, Jackie Lomax, Doris Troy, and Billy Preston (among others). (16) For the 'Yellow Submarine' album cover they use the cover of 1999's 'Yellow Submarine Songtrack' instead of the cover of the 1969 album. (17) 'Let It Be' did not follow them around during their final months, it was all filmed in January 1969.
