When I first started watching your videos I thought it said you have 1 million followers but it actually said 1000 followers😮 I think that’s unfair because you have one of the best channels you deserve 1000000
Just a question my local pet store only has all kinds of feeder fish but feeding crustacean wise it only has feeding crawfish and feeder green crabs but they are $5 per crab and I’m not trying to empty my bank account so do you think it would be healthy for my mantis shrimp if I went out and fought some of these shore crabs that live at my local beach should I feed them and if I do should I worry about parasites
I have caught and fed shore crabs to Bruce in the past, parasites are a risk however. I also don't live feed Bruce all the time, his regular feeds tend to be either a frozen cockle or mussel in its shell or a frozen lance fish, with live treats now and then.
Bruce inspired me to get my own Peacock a handful of months ago. Awesome creature to keep. My experience with live food has been quite different. Ours has about 15 snails. 5 emeralds, 5 peppermint shrimp as roomies for multiple months. The only casualty thus far has been one peppermint who got into a turf war with the Peacocks cave entrance. He lost. Badly! Thanks for sharing as always. Love the content.
Thank you! There are actually 3 other emerald crabs in with Bruce that I added stealthily to deal with some bubble algae and they are all still alive as far as I know! I hope things are going well with your mantis buddy.
I’ve only just subscribed but I absolutely love the content. I have wanted to look at getting a peacock mantas shrimp for about a year but after all my local shops telling me not to bother I gave up and your page has made me want to get one again! Love the content!
Thanks so much! I'm working on the next vid at the moment which will be answering questions from my comments. If there are any questions you have please let me know.
It’s like hiring Stanley Steamers to clean the carpets in a large house only for them to discover there is a bear in one of the rooms down a long hallway.
I absolutely love the cave system you've given Bruce II. He's a very lucky mantis to have such a considerate owner. I wouldn't keep Goliath with Bruce II. Not after Bruce II was clearly afraid of him. (On a related note, Bruce II has to be the most cautious, calculating mantis I've ever seen. I love him.) Also, what became of the decorator crab? That little guy is a hero to feeder animals everywhere.
That's good to hear! You should mention the crab in your next video so other fans of Bruce can know he's doing alright. He might even be worth naming after his adventures. Perhaps Shackleton, after the polar explorer who also defied impossible odds and survived.
Awesome video by the way - should have led with that! At £16 each though, an emerald crab is a pricey snack! Have you ever tried feeding him shore crabs from the UK coast? I'm planning to make a trip out to the coast soon to try to collect a few for that purpose.
Funny you should say that one of my early vids was feeding Bruce I a shore crab I caught ruclips.net/video/hJv0MRePCG8/видео.html . I have actually been planning to go back at some point to get some more.
I have a question for you about tank cleaning, Do you have to clean up Bruce’s leftovers after he’s done eating? And do you have to clean his layer after a moult? I’d like to get a Mantis Shrimp someday and I want mine to be happy and healthy like Bruce :)
I do take away any left overs Bruce dumps outside his lair but I don't ever clean the lair itself I leave that to Bruce. He tends to eat most of his moult and often has a clean out of his home.
I noticed that you have fish along with your peacock mantis. I was wondering if you have had any problems with Bruce eating them or showing aggression? I have a green mantis smasher along with a sharp nose puffer and a half dozer peppermint shrimp for three months with no issues. I read a lot about the mantis shrimp but they all seem to say that they must be tanked alone ? I know that they are very intelligent so any insight would be appreciated thanks
The peppermint shrimps might go missing as they are natural prey but I find the key to keeping other inhabitants is making sure there is enough space and cover for everyone to have somewhere to hide and feel safe. You can check out my video on the tank mates I keep with Bruce if you like ruclips.net/video/waMykOe5pu8/видео.html. I'm glad you liked the video😁
Goliath is currently living in the sump of my main reef tank and has gotten even bigger! I did consider leaving him in but he's an absolute savage who would have decimated my corals and algae if I'd left him unattended.
@@KungFuShrimp Aha, he's still around I see. Dunno why, sorta expected him to have met his demise at the hands of something, not necessarily an attack-shrimp by now xD
i heard that these MANTIS SHRIMPS can break the glass of your tank with their hammer claws . is this true ? I dont want to get one if they are going to cause a flood in my house.. What is the truth about these things.
From what I have learnt this is a theoretical possibility however I have never heard a first hand account of it actually happening. Bruce has certainly struck his tank glass before but it is not something I worry about.
Are you sure Bruce is actually male? I was looking very closely for the "male parts" in your slow motion footage and I couldn't see them. I've taken to assuming my mantis shrimp is female because I can't see the tell tale male parts on her, but it's hard to see for sure because they never show you their undercarriage for very long and they're invariably swimming when they do :) This is what I'm looking for though, and I don't see these on Bruce: ucmp.berkeley.edu/arthropoda/crustacea/malacostraca/eumalacostraca/royslist/images/l_lisa3.jpg
You are absolutely correct in fact I'm pretty sure Bruce the 1st was also female (although I didn't know that at the time) but I've chosen to think of Bruce as more of a title and I'm pretty sure they identify as male 🙄
My 4 year old son is obsessed with marine life. I am too, and I love mantis shrimp. We love watching Bruce!! Great videos! Thank you!
I really like your setup, Bruce is always busy moving things. He’s active and happy. Please more uploads.
Those were the quickest kills ever😂

The fish be like thank god I’m not him
with each punch I feel the pain of the crab in my soul
Wow. That was a savage attack. Bruce may be cautious, but once his mind is made up, it's ON.

Joey how big is your mantis
Another fantastic video. Thank you. What a great channel. Just discovered it and can’t get enough.
This guy deserves 100 THOUSAND subs, these videos look better than some chanels with 1 mil. Keep up the good work and stay positive!👍
Hahaha!!!! He knocked the Hell out of that crab several times! Lol

I love how the blue fish watches everything the crazy mantis does...lol
He's traumatized, but can't look away. Lol
Love your videos, you make the best live feeding videos on RUclips by faaar. Keep up the great work!!!
Thank you so much for the comment, your support means a lot!
The camera looks great!
Up next mud crab from Skyrim must have health bar. Lol
You are doing a great job with these videos. I hope to see more in the future :D

I'm always amazed at how nature can produce such amazing life forms.

Wow..he's amazing. Otherworldly. 😊
Those fish made me laugh, they really wanting the left overs of the crab. 🐟
They are definitely characters and never miss a chance to grab a mouthful when they can!
I love your videos ❤️
Great video...👍
The last crab was about to take Bruce throne so you pussed out!
Nice coral reef
Looks good !
Finally subscribed!
Love to see another Brice video

. I eventually moved the decorator crab into my main reef tank and he seems quite happy in there.

Dude got a spanked and molly whopped
Love mantis shrimp, trying to convince the other half to let me have a tank with one in, only time will tell.
Love to see an update on the decorator crab
He is doing fine, I eventually moved him into my main reef tank as Bruce's was a bit small for them long him.

So, Mantis Shrimp are compatible with corals?!
PUNCHING CRAB!
Me and my dad have been in to the aquarium hobby for awhile now and we are interested getting a mantis shrimp so we wanted to ask where you got yours?

I'm a big fan of crab sandwiches myself
What happened to that absolute unit if a hermit?
Mantises seem smart.
I wonder if it could try & play a long game, crack such a big one over weeks?

You should make a jersey of bruce i would buy it 😉
Can you hear the shell crushing through the tank? Or is that an added sound effect?
Yes all the sound is as recorded at the time. Only the music and voiceover were added.
Should put a camera in Bruce's layer
Do you still have Bruce?
He's alive and well I hope to get a new video up soon
I hope G is still alive . Hes a good looking crab
What happened to the decorator Crab
He got transferred into my main reef tank. I can't say I've seen him in a while but he's very good at hiding and mainly nocturnal.

Why doesn’t Bruce eat the other fish?

Can you confine the hermit
Pokémon in real life ❤
Could Evolution develops such creature???
Try seeing if Kaiju can handle a fight with a stone crab
I think that might be a little big (although I could try and find a little one) and honestly I think I'd probably eat it myself if it was a good size🦀
@@KungFuShrimp Stone crab would be tougher for him to tear apart. It would be a more worthy opponent.
Thanks for wasting my 15 mins !
why does not bruce attack fishes for meal ?
Probably because he is well faid and just doesn't see it worth it.
Why dont you put something in there that will put up a fight
It's possible is a well rounded lie. Everything you knew was wrong if any point was
It’s so tiny tho
Would be great to watch hermit devour brucie head first!( don't like bruce!!
