Saya bukan Gen Z tapi saya rasa statement tak kerja waktu weekend dipanggil manja, expect utk kena bertolak ansur dengan company sahaja dah outdated ,stereotype dan bias. Jika contract kerja ada katakan kena kerja waktu weekend dan employer yang 'bertanggungjawab' seperti mana tuan faiz katakan bayar gaji,epf, dan juga OT ikut undang2. No issue. Bagi saya bukan Gen Z manja tapi zaman sekarang ramai dah peka dengan hak masing2. kalau employer boleh claim bnyk employee bermasalah, ramai employee yg kat luar tu experience kena abuse dgn company taking advantage kat mereka. Kena ingat at the end of the day, its a work contract bukan kerja amal.
betul dah tu Gen Z dah peka dgn hak mereka sebagai pekerja. tapi realitinya, betul ke sepanjang 8 hours tersebut digunakan utk fokus buat kerja? coz in my experience even me myself, i couldnt commit myself to be fully focus doing my job, i myself akan whatsapp for personal matters etc. on another note, masa muda ni la kena kerja extra not to please our boss but its for ourselves, percayalah bila dah kerja keras time muda, by 30s skills kita dah getting stronger dan boleh lek2 je buat keje sambil segregating the workload efficiently. jangan jadi pekerja yang sudah masuk 30an tapi skill takat tu je. umur makin tua, badan kita pon dah x larat nak kerja overtime to polish our skill.

Walaupun some of my company top management bodoh (god forbid anyone goes into their department), takda pun keperluan untuk kerja on weekends even tengah kerja melalak. The ceo and bosses dapat gaji tinggi2, dapat beli kereta bmw, mercedes etc but at the same time mereka accuse their employees for being manja, not a team player, quiet quitting, malas etc because they don't want to work outside their contract Your employees are drawing basic salary and they didn't get any shares and profit of the company Its just exploitation for free labour
Also the ones that calls their staff out of the blue on a weekend clearly shows they need their own butts covered because they didn’t get the job done themselves and have to report to upper management on Monday 😅 So they ask the staff to do it for them. This happens a lot too.
Kalau janji isnin-jumaat kerja kena tunaikan, kalau Sabtu Ahad bayar ot. Semua syarikat besar macam tu, melayu je suka ambil kesempatan guna tenaga orang. Panasonic kalau kerja Sabtu dibayar ot. Nestlé pun macam tu. Kalau kita murah rezeki pada orang, mesti rezeki kita pun bertambah. Jangan asyik ingat untuk diri je.
THos gaji above RM4k memang tak dibayar OT as per the law. Tapi the part about owning your work still applies. Some companies pun akan kasi allowances bila you do the extra hours, ikut polisi company Semua orang ada options, ada pilihan. Tiada paksaan, unless sendiri choose to work in a company/environment yang demanding. Kalau tak tahan, boleh berhenti. Tapi muda2 lah time nak tunjukkan kecekalan diri. Employees boleh pilih nak kerja tahap mana, employers pun boleh pilih nak promote/kasi-increment pada sesiapa.

Aku tak setuju dengan term 'Manja' atas alasan tak dapat dtg kerja bukan pada waktunya. Bagi aku, kalau company menggunakan dasar flexible working hour, ada masa bagi balik awal- pekerja itulah yang harus bertoleransi jika company perlukan mereka di luar waktu kerja. Barulah win-win. If we already knew in the contract which stated that there would be no OT payment, why should we agree to the terms and take up such employment? If we are so skilled, we can even set up our own company. Since we are aware of our rights and so entitled...we might as well be the boss.

Kerja ikut working hour ditetapkan, tanggungjawab pekerja sampai setakat itu sahaja melainkan pekerja itu memang rela atau kerja memang tidak disiapkan on time. Jikalau ada kerja pada waktu cuti kenapa ramai majikan tak nyatakan didalam kontrak. Banyak company saya kerja jika entertain majikan waktu cuti, percayalah, lagi banyak benda majikan akan beri diwaktu cuti.

Nevermind kalau nak sejam dua bukak laptop in weekend. 2nd situation: 8-5 dah hambakan 100% dekat tempat kerja, but time weekend nak curi² sejam dua utk kerja.. it's very unfair It's about win-win situation

To answer to your statement, what the guy implying and what had happened between you and your employees is totally different. One is based on demand and one is based on willingness. If your employee willing to do the sacrifices then go ahead, but not every company is creative in nature. Saya kurang setuju yang "extra" tu lagi2 off days. Itu pun bergantung pada industri. Kalau sales, marketing or anything thats related with customers, of course we need to chase it. Tapi kalau kerja office, kalau tak buat off days pun x pe kot. Gen Z ni dia mcm ni sebab orang muda dah expose dengan news yg orang kena laid off despite being loyal dan sebagainya. Ini disebabkan budaya job hopping untuk better pay dah jadi norma. Loyal untuk satu syarikat ni zaman orang dulu je. Orang yang atas ni kena ingat, ini company dia. Perkeja tak nampak company ni cara founder nampak tau. For pekerja biasa, ni hanya untuk bina portfolio dia manakala orang atas nampak ni sebagai investment. Itulah pendapat saya...
Part Siti tu rasanya memang jiwa mak-mak as perempuan dia keluar sebab tu terus je dia decide untuk resign. Tak semua perempuan sesuai masuk as industrial worker, kena yang jenis tough minded especially kalau dah ada anak. Perempuan kalau dalam company ramai biasanya memang banyak masalah sikit, sebab diaorang tend to be more emotional than rational or professional. Mak-mak kalau nak keje, better keje part time je dari rumah, meniaga ke, apa ke dari rumah. Dunia keje profesional ni lagi sesuai untuk lelaki, fullstop, bukan tentang Gen Z lemah & sebagainya, memang tu masalah emosi perempuan terlebih.
I can second to that on the intern part. I dulu intern IT Audit at some company with a background of cybersecurity. I kid you not that the level of work i had with 1k allowance will probably burn out other interns but somehow i struggle through and her i am contributing more with a better pay.

Technology has created so much Efficiency-Productivity so much so, issues arise and need to be resolved faster, unfortunately - over the weekend too. the difference in the 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000++ we all used to work Saturdays half days. Now most of the jobs can be done over the mobile phone, emails, whatsapp remotely. So, no issue.

Lots of this discussion is unhealthy. If you demand that much of your staff, then you hire person who are able to fulfill as per for you. If they dont, you dont say they are manja. You look for other workers. As simple as that. If you cant, then, no choice. Change your approach. Thats how business develop, adapt to changes. The world are not stagnant, it evolves.
For me, if the staff leaves my company to join Media Prima ke, foreign media company ke for example, memang I sokong habis la. I will vouch for them, sebab I berjaya bimbing anak Malaysia supaya jadi orang berguna, dan bukan sampah masyarakat I'm that kind of boss. Seems like you've been working in a crappy environment. I feel sorry for you. Right now my team is in Johor for work. We pay them for their time, but most importantly they are all happy to contribute to the company Seriously your bitterness needs to be checked. You need to find better employers that care for you and your career which is what we are la 🥰 Good luck p/s about the quitting thing, if an employee leaves it would be for Netflix or the likes. Hahaha I love my job.. I’m an engineer in a reputable oil and gas company for many years.. I’ve worked weekends when it’s operational but it’s not imposed on us at the last minute. I just hope you’ll walk the talk when you care for your staff when they leave the company or at least compensate enough. Which I doubt. But best to you. Saya bukan Gen Z tapi saya rasa statement tak kerja waktu weekend dipanggil manja, expect utk kena bertolak ansur dengan company sahaja dah outdated ,stereotype dan bias.
Jika contract kerja ada katakan kena kerja waktu weekend dan employer yang 'bertanggungjawab' seperti mana tuan faiz katakan bayar gaji,epf, dan juga OT ikut undang2. No issue.
Bagi saya bukan Gen Z manja tapi zaman sekarang ramai dah peka dengan hak masing2. kalau employer boleh claim bnyk employee bermasalah, ramai employee yg kat luar tu experience kena abuse dgn company taking advantage kat mereka. Kena ingat at the end of the day, its a work contract bukan kerja amal.

Walaupun some of my company top management bodoh (god forbid anyone goes into their department), takda pun keperluan untuk kerja on weekends even tengah kerja melalak. Because everyone needs rest plus takkan lah tak pernah balik rumah sambung kerja sikit waktu weekdays atau OT. Ini bukan isu skills, ini isu not being exploitated.

Your employees are drawing basic salary and they didn't get any shares and profit of the company

Also the ones that calls their staff out of the blue on a weekend clearly shows they need their own butts covered because they didn’t get the job done themselves and have to report to upper management on Monday 😅 So they ask the staff to do it for them. This happens a lot too.

We have progressed to a different style of work which focuses on other aspects of life besides just work. So if different generations don’t want to come to an understanding, we will tend to speak in a very judgemental manner like this. And in my humble view, to a certain extent , gen Z is smart to voice out their needs and wants for a healthier work environment and if you want to coin it as manja … I’m worried.

1. As a small assessment of how balanced your life is as y’all condone working on weekends and so on , do reflect on how healthy are you & your employees are? Obesity, infertility, other non communicable diseases , mental health?
At the end of it , all the money you make but just to spend your time and money that you made at doctors office also no point! Remember the most important real estate is your own body!
2. About pay and allowances, be fair. People at the age of 20 now already have unwell parents to care for, lagi lagi duduk kat KL. Basic pay 1.5k nak buat apa? Unlike baby boomer where they did not have to worry about that as you can see, millennial grandparents passed on well and healthy at 90+.
3. Attitude tu, all gen we have these poor attitude people, tolong jgn stereotype .
4. Paling penting, why do you want to recreate the "abuse" faced by previous work culture? Why don't you want to improvise?
So as a millennial I agree with gen Z to a certain extent.

Aku tak setuju dengan term 'Manja' atas alasan tak dapat dtg kerja bukan pada waktunya. Bagi aku, kalau company menggunakan dasar flexible working hour, ada masa bagi balik awal- pekerja itulah yang harus bertoleransi jika company perlukan mereka di luar waktu kerja. Barulah win-win. Tempat kerja toksik dengan pemikiran bos toksik memang tak best. Saya pun bos-sedang memahami rentak anak2 buah. Sekadar pandangan seorang bos dengan 30 org staf shj.

Kerja ikut working hour ditetapkan, tanggungjawab pekerja sampai setakat itu sahaja melainkan pekerja itu memang rela atau kerja memang tidak disiapkan on time.

To answer to your statement, what the guy implying and what had happened between you and your employees is totally different. One is based on demand and one is based on willingness. If your employee willing to do the sacrifices then go ahead, but not every company is creative in nature. My company for one require physical work as well as mind, should i shame them as being weak and manja for not wanting to do ot? 55.50 , kes boss/ superior take advantage kat junior / staff baru. biasanya ada "karma" untuk boss demikian juga. yang selalu kita dengar , boss complain Susah nak cari staff, Semua staff yang datang bekerja , tak sampai berapa bulan dah nak resign. if that staff memang kerja kat mana pun tak lama, itu mungkin masalah dia. if the boss asyik tak dapat staff yang boleh ikut dia lama , 10 datang , 10 lari, boss tu kena pikir balik sendiri la .. . kalau nak cari kerja , memang kena study " employee turn over rate " kat satu syarikat tu, kalau tinggi sangat, atau satu department tu , junior dia banyak kali tukar pekerja, tidak ada satu yang mampu stay lama bila kerja dengan so&so senior, ... itu tanda masalah superior take advantage.

Gen Z ni dia mcm ni sebab orang muda dah expose dengan news yg orang kena laid off despite being loyal dan sebagainya. Ini disebabkan budaya job hopping untuk better pay dah jadi norma. Loyal untuk satu syarikat ni zaman orang dulu je.
Orang yang atas ni kena ingat, ini company dia. Perkeja tak nampak company ni cara founder nampak tau. For pekerja biasa, ni hanya untuk bina portfolio dia manakala orang atas nampak ni sebagai investment.

Part Siti tu rasanya memang jiwa mak-mak as perempuan dia keluar sebab tu terus je dia decide untuk resign. Tak semua perempuan sesuai masuk as industrial worker, kena yang jenis tough minded especially kalau dah ada anak. Perempuan kalau dalam company ramai biasanya memang banyak masalah sikit, sebab diaorang tend to be more emotional than rational or professional. Mak-mak kalau nak keje, better keje part time je dari rumah, meniaga ke, apa ke dari rumah. Dunia keje profesional ni lagi sesuai untuk lelaki, fullstop, bukan tentang Gen Z lemah & sebagainya, memang tu masalah emosi perempuan terlebih.
I can second to that on the intern part. I dulu intern IT Audit at some company with a background of cybersecurity. I kid you not that the level of work i had with 1k allowance will probably burn out other interns but somehow i struggle through and her i am contributing more with a better pay.
Life is a choice isnt it? Kalau muda² tak nak struggle, struggle lah masa umur 40 tahun... Tapi less energy and little opportunities

Lots of this discussion is unhealthy. If you demand that much of your staff, then you hire person who are able to fulfill as per for you. If they dont, you dont say they are manja. You look for other workers. As simple as that. If you cant, then, no choice. Change your approach. Thats how business develop, adapt to changes. The world are not stagnant, it evolves.

Hahaha I love my job.. I’m an engineer in a reputable oil and gas company for many years.. I’ve worked weekends when it’s operational but it’s not imposed on us at the last minute. I just hope you’ll walk the talk when you care for your staff when they leave the company or at least compensate enough. Which I doubt. But best to you.
And fyi, in the comments section there are more than enough people who essentially thinks the same. Gen z or not. Instead of being so defensive about it maybe you also need to be checked ✅
