I’m missing something. Let’s say my NVR is only 4 ports and all 4 ports have power over Ethernet injection. How could I possibly split one port and run two cameras? That would potentially be 5 cameras on a 4 port NVR. I’m using this example to help me understand. The unit I was looking at used two NVR ports into one (reverse split), and at the end of the run outdoors, the one cable is again separated with a Y into the two cameras. That I can understand, since you are using two ports in the NVR. How can this work with only one port being used in the NVR? Thank you.

Consider adding a 2-port PoE extender. Here is the product link: www.fastcabling.com/product/poe-extender/. This will allow you to split one port and run two cameras. Keep in mind, it's essential to check the power requirements of your cameras and ensure the NVR can handle the increased load. Or you can use a PoE switch. Connect the NVR to the switch, then run the cameras from the switch.

@@Fastcabling thank you for the response. Great products and site by the way. I was thinking of that product. How can it act as a switch without 120v power? ? Is it using the POE power from the cat 6 cable to power the switch ?

is there a smart camera you recommend that can use ethernet cable for internet streaming to smartphone app instead of using wifi?

Most wired version IP camera allow you to live stream the video to mobile app. The connection method (WiFi or wire) doesn't make any difference. It is just the way to connect itself to network. I mean, any wired IP camera can do.

A good video. I do have a question regarding my own camera setup system. When i renovated my house, i installed 3 LAN cables CAT6 to 3 points where i wanted to hang camera's. Those cable's are hidden in roofing and walls and i can't install a 4th cable all the way to my recording device without the cable being seen or 'hidden' with attachements on the excisting walls.
This system could be my answer to installing a fourth camera. But i wanted to be sure i could install a 4nd camera before looking into it by asking you if it would be possible.
    My system:
    - tvn-1104cs-1t
    - currently runs three out of 4 PoE camera's.
I'd use this device to add another camera using one of my 3 cables. The reserved total output is 50w for the 4 ports. Currently it uses up 12,5w with the three camera's. So i have enough for adding another camera for sure, but i still wonder ofc :p

You can use the 1 in 2 out PoE extender, but I consider the power budget. The total power budget is 60w, I checked the specification, but it never specify it support PoE+. The IEEE802.3af only provide 14.4W maximum. If you split 14.4W for two cameras, it is not enough to supply two cameras.

Can you use this method on a NVR? Do I need to add a splitter on the NVR side for each camera Poe port to the Poe extender in or will one work? Thanks

No, you don't need the splitter. This model (1 in 2 out) has Power handshaking built-in. There is no need for PoE splitter. You do need PoE switch or PoE injector on another end to send the power to this PoE extender.
