Yea Buddy!! That is fantastic. Great guitar and it sounds pretty good too man. I'm not often impressed by neck pick ups but that one does in fact sound pretty awesome!

Thanks Shan! Now that I've put more hours into playing this thing, I'm really a fan of the pickups. Honestly I thought that I'd hate them, based on a lot of the other reviews I watched.
This was my first video with a new audio recorder, and I didn't think ahead and pre-mix the room vs. close mic. So we get tons of room mic baked into the recorded audio. Oops! Live and learn :)

This was my first electric in 1965, sunburst. It was a great guitar!

Those old ones are fetching good money these days! I have to say that I'm quite impressed with the reincarnated brand, even though I never had the pleasure of playing one of the original Swedish models.

@@YHRS I think the new ones are fine instruments!

I love my Viking Deluxe! Plays fantastic, although the electronics / pickups can do with an upgrade from stock in my opinion. You're right that the pickups are quite muddy out the box - I've ordered some that I hope will brighten things up a bit. Also my input jack is a nightmare, so it's off to the tech soon for something sturdier.
Otherwise, a fantastic foundation as the necks are so playable, it's really easy to get a nice action.

Gorgeous in red. I have a black standard Viking.

This is good to know. I tried the Hagstrom 67 Viking II(2) the one with the Stratocaster looking headstock. It had a narrow neck especially up towards the top three frets or so and it had a whole different feel to it. It was hard to get used to especially after I'd been playing a new Fender Stratocaster in the store for over half an hour. I wanted to like it but was just having a hard time adjusting to it. I would have to go in and just play it cold without trying anything else beforehand I think. It felt like a big difference and even more so then going from like a fender to a Gibson guitar or vice versa. I never plugged it in and was just playing it acoustically.

I notice the tone is very similar to Clapton's SG/ES335 during his days with Cream. Very good if you ask me!

Thanks! Now that I've spent more time with it, I really like it a lot. It's very responsive, and I've loved playing with feedback too!

Personally I'd rather you skipped the "unboxing" and went straight to the axe BUT I know such things are popular. Nice guitar Tad, well done.

If you hover over the red play bar, it'll show you the chapters that I've set up. That way, you can skip to the bits that you're most interested in.
Or, if those aren't visible on your device, you can find clickable timestamps in the description.
Or, I'm sure for certain videos, you can skip right to the end 😁😁

Great looking guitar! Sounds pretty good as well. So after 5 months or so of ownership how are you liking it?
Would love to see a comparison ot this one with the 67' Viking II (the one that has the Fender Strat looking headstock)

Honestly, I still love it. The pickups have really endeared themselves to me over the last several months. Although just now I plugged it in and that wonky toggle switch was cutting out the neck pickup. Other than that, I've only come to like it more and more since I've gotten to know it.

Thanks for the vid, great energy! If you like that one I strongly recomend you to try a vintge Viking from the sixties. Someone below mentions it (the ones with the Fenderstyle headstock). Those are fully hollowbody and pack P-90. They are a dream to play and will cost you a fraction of 335's. I'm bias, I'm swedish but in my opinion the are at least as good as the Gibsons (that in my opinion are way overrated and way overprized... ;-) ).

Very nice. I had a few Hagstroms. A Deuce and a Swede. They were very nice, but I got rid of them. I'm a Gibson guy.

I have one and, sorry, never try a New guitar with such a distorted set up. The guitar, just with reverberb has a cristal sound, bright and sweet, check other demos and you will see i'm right.

My old Viking, not made in China, does not have the "Viking" writing on it.

I was on the same journey earlier this year. I ended up withe the Artcore. You can eq a little and squeeze some of that muddiness out.

    • @YHRS
      @YHRS  2 года назад +1

The Artcore was a serious contender as I was shopping! They really have some great looking designs in the hollow and semi hollow market. Hope your new axe is a pleasure to play!
