B pillar must had cap which would do as door jambs and fasten rubber like cars have to seal door.
G'day just found your channel and subbed mate
Where did you purchase the hardtop kit from? Looks to be high quality! Any idea if they make a slant back option as well?
The kit is from Plan B supply. I think they are actually built by a different company and sold through them. They may have a contract with them for a non-compete. It seems to be well made and fits pretty well considering how varied humvee body dimensions can get from each other.
where did you get your hard top lit from
How much was it during the Christmas sale last year? Trying to see if I should hold off ordering for a month, thanks
Are you able to fold down the front window? That would be a cool Jeep-ish look to have the top off and front window folded down.
The windshield can be folded down on a humvee. You would have to remove any soft top or hard top then it would hinge down. This hard top is more of a permanent style top that would take a while to remove tho.
@@tossthewrench yeah, I know the hard top puts you in a bind for that but I was just curious because I’ve yet to see anyone with a soft top sport out their HV with the front down
Why would you want to fold the windshield on a HMMWV in civilian application? Don't think you'll be dropping your vehicle out of a aircraft. The only reason it folds down is there is a break line starting at the windshield fold point of the HMMWV through the B pillar and C Pillar that is done for purpose of airdrops out the back of a C17 or equivalent aircraft. This is done due to clearance from ramp to airframe of the aircraft while loading or airdropping as you can see from this video: ruclips.net/video/4X_8WSs1oFU/видео.html
Sorry if I missed it, but what year/model HMMWV is this and where did you get it?
It's a 1989 m998 based on the serial number tag. I purchased it through the government auctions.
@@tossthewrench Thanks! If a video would make sense, I'd love to hear about your experience getting the truck and what condition you thought it was in, and maybe others would as well. I've thought a lot about trying to get something through the government auctions but am worried about getting a rusted out junk bucket. From the first video, yours looks very clean and like it ran with the old transmission/engine, but it's not clear what else you did before that first video. In any event, I am really loving this series and you have a knack for these kinds of videos.
That's a good idea. I'll try to put together some talking points on my experience getting it and everything. And I appreciate that. I'm glad people are enjoying the videos.
Where did you get your hard top? Looks like a Plan B kit.
Yep! It was a Plan B kit. Instructions are easy to follow for which hardware to use where. The cuts and bends on it are clean. Fits up nice.
Toss the Wrench thanks for the info! I’m torn between the Plan B kit or just getting a slant back hard top. I’m wanting to keep a soft rear curtain so I always have extra cargo space if needed.
No problem. I shopped around for a top for a while before going with this one. The window portion of the rear cutain is very easy to remove and I've been looking at possibly modifying the lower portion to make it quicker for removal for that very reason. If I get something figured out I'll make a video on it also.
How much cost for this kit
I got the kit during a sale so it'd probably be better to look at the Plan B Supply website for them. They have different prices for different setups like slant back, wagon, or truck bed like this one.
what roof kit is that
Plan B Supply kit. They have different types of hard top kit variations
