All About Eve, were a superb band with many wonderful songs, such as: "What Kind of Fool (Autumn Rhapsody)", "Our Summer", "Flowers in Our Hair", "December", "Every Angel", "In The Clouds", "Road To Your Soul", "Scarlet", "Tuesday's Child", "In The Meadow", "Strangeway". There are many more but these are good ones to continue with.

So glad you did some All about Eve. They are a goth/folk/acoustic/rock outfit form Englad. Martha's Harbour is one of their best songs, imho. Just gorgeous, but they've got a lot of great songs. Every Angel, Road to Your Soul, Farewell Mr Sorrow, Wishing the Hours Away, Wild-Hearted Woman, The Apple Tree Man... I could go on. I've always wanted someone to react to Martha's Harbour.

Julianne Regan's voice is wonderful, and the first album is their strongest overall with some cracking tracks - my favourites are 'Flowers in our Hair', Shelter from the Rain' and 'Wild Hearted Woman'.

Haha I don't really remember requesting this one years ago - glad you got to it this time though, and enjoyed it. As others have said, they do heavier/rockier stuff too (such as Wild Hearted Woman, December, Gold & Silver) as well as other songs more along the lines of this one (Scarlet, The Pearl Fishermen, Pieces of Our Heart). They also have a few tracks with a more epic/prog flavour, such as In the Meadow, Outshine the Sun and (featuring David Gilmour) Are You Lonely, all well worth a listen to experience their different styles and more of Julianne's amazing voice...

They were a wonderful band back in the day. Their first 2 albums featured a delightful and enchanting mix of acoustic, pop and rock songs that prominently featured Julianne's magnificent voice that dripped with atmosphere and. You would like plenty of their other material based on your reaction here. She was able to reproduce it almost equally well live too. In my view it was a little saddening that they gradually moved away from the style that they gained the most success with to a more alternative/psychedelic sound by their 4th and final studio album whilst, sadly, gradually Julianne's stunning vocals were mixed lower and lower. If you're willing to react to another song or two of theirs, I would particularly recommend Road to Your Soul, December (full version), Tuesday's Child and the haunting Are You Lonely (which features some guitar licks by David Gilmour).

Oh, my word this takes me back....what a beautiful song, Julianne Regan has the most gorgeous voice, she was discovered by Wayne Hussey of "The Mission" when he asked her to perform backing vocals on their first album. All About Eve's music is a blend of Folk and rock music loosely speaking..... loved your reaction JP thanks.

More All About Eve. More more more. The album Touched by Jesus is my favorite, after Marty Wilson-Piper (from The Church) came on board. But all of their stuff is fantastic. Julianne Regan not only has the most gorgeous voice (both earthy and ethereal) but her lyrics are beautifully haunting and poetic. More, please.

I couldn't stop playing the album when it first came out, back in 1988. The opening track, "Flowers In Our Hair" and also "In The Clouds" were a couple of my favourites.
I remember the "Top of the Pops" incident. It was great that they returned the following week and played a perfect live rendition.

I watched that episode of Top Of The Pops. I'd just bought the album, told friends, colleagues and even some of the kids I taught how good it was, then they had to get shown up on live television. Another band from that era with a bewitching female vocalist are the Sundays, just about every track from their first two albums is a joy to listen to.

Evening, Justin. Dave from London. Julianne Regan really has the Voice Of An Angel. The band mix these folky ballads with soft, melodic rock, and have a goth image. I have their second album Scarlet And Other Stories, on which there's a seasonal song, December - maybe for next year? Also on the album is another lovely acoustic number, The Pearl Fishermen.
P.S. my song ref is an album by a young Charlotte Church.

I literally just saw the TOTP appearance you mentioned within the last week, lol, but did not know (or remember) this song or group. I am often intrigued by song titles or group names and "All About Eve" just happens to be a top twenty or so favorite movie of mine. Everything you said about her voice I echo, and that gorgeous transition into the chorus, yes. Great upload, and yes, great suggestion.

They were just such an amazing band. There was a point in the late 80s where you kind of felt they were going to go stratospheric. They always did a mixture of rock/pop and acoustic ballads. I would definitely recommend Road To Your Soul or December for rock; Drowning or She Moved Through the Fair for another quieter one (Drowning is one of the best songs/recordings I've ever heard - I think it was just a b-side!) and, if you can find it, a live version of In the Meadow would be great.

Goth Folk. I'm a lot more receptive to this now than I was at the time. Then it was all a bit drippy and twee, and Goths were darkly comical. Hearing this now, I can lazily drift into my past and float in tranquility for a while. The ocean theme reminds me of Sandy Denny.

Great reaction and a great group from the 90s. I saw them live quite a few times. Scarlet & Other Stories and the self titled first album were their best IMHO. Quickly went downhill when the lead guitarist (Tim Bricheno) left to join The Mission. Maybe try Pieces Of Our Heart or December next please? Or if you can find it, their version of Witch's Promise by Jethro Tull.

I really had a thing for this band back in the day I think I have pretty much every track they ever did. The first and second albums are the best imo. This song is not my favourite though. I'm always trying to interest reaction channels in All About Eve/Julianne Regan. AAE remains a shockingly underappreciated - often misunderstood - band. In part because they have a deeper catalogue than you might think (only four normal albums, but a ton of b-sides and rarities). Other people are throwing out scattered song titles, but instead...ruclips.net/video/FJYur_pUvh8/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/MQl3HioiCnw/видео.html

The song certainly draws me in, but at the same time it feels like something I've heard before. Don't mind if I have, and I was happy to continue being drawn in, but there's that just as a thought. (I think the drawing in trumps the feeling of familiarity).
I wonder if the name of the band has anything to do with the *Steve Vai* song, *All About Eve* ?
I seem to recall you mentioning Steve Vai somewhere, so I think maybe you're familiar with his music. Once, he stopped by on RUclips to leave a nice comment to a cover of the song posted by a guy called Shaheer Shahid - and that's largely because it's a great cover, on acoustic guitar, singing along. If you don't know the song, and I'm mistaken about your familiarity with him, you might want to get some opinions from those in the know about whether it's reaction material (and, I suppose, whether Steve Vai sues anyone who spells out his name). If you do, you'll love the cover: ruclips.net/video/s8Bjue98GLk/видео.html
Just in case my memory is letting me down completely and utterly, and you're thinking, "Steve Who?" , he was hired by Frank Zappa when he was a kid to do "stunt guitar". He went on from there to create a lot of his own music. Still does, but the tempo has slowed down now it's become hard to make a living out of all that effort. And all the stuck in the mud dyed in the wool fans just want more of the same recipe, and have run out of capacity to be open to new things.
