The Nokia is taking forever to import them from the sd card to the point that maybe that's not the way to do it? any suggestions?

Excellent info, thanks Jose. I was debating between this device and the Schok Classic Flip; I ended up getting this Nokia 6300 4G today!! As a LONG time iPhone user, I was expecting it to be much worse; honestly, it’s not bad so far. One issue I encountered was that when my wife texts me a photo, from her new iPhone SE, the Nokia shows me a preview, but then says “image too large to be displayed in Gallery”. Is there any fix for this?? I do not have a microSD card installed right now, I’m wondering if that has anything to do with it?? Anyhow, thanks for answering questions, I know you’re not tech support. Also, I did subscribe, please keep the good digital minimalism content flowing!!
Images from iPhones are usually too large for the phone to process. If you have WhatsApp, it’s better that your wife sends it that way so you can download it later. It is not a problem of an SD card. The issue is that the Operating system can only support a certain level of image size. Like the phones of old haha. It’s an inconvenience for sure and we are hoping that KaiOS 3.0 fixes some of these later this year :)
On the fence about this one. I saw one person's review of this phone that the gps is wonky as you can't use it and have 4G on at the same time ? Does anyone know if that's true ?

When I first purchased the Nokia 6300 the "voice-to-text" worked. After I updated the phone the "voice-to-text" was no longer available. Does anyone know how to get "voice-to-text" back?
Which carrier are you using with the Banana Phone? The phone was not launched in the US and I have always been hesitant to buy it on eBay if it will not work on T-Mobile.
Hi Jose, thanks for the video. I just bought the 6300 4g to hold my international sim card. It’s just sitting on my desk and I check it 3 times a day for calls or text messages. Usually I will only receive 2 messages from my phone carrier a day. I was wondering if it’s normal for the battery to go down 10% in 12 hours? The phone died within 4 and a half days and I rarely use it. I charged it with the original charger, Bluetooth off, wifi off, data off, and brightness is only at 20%. Should I get the 2720 flip instead? For a standby phone. Thanks so much :) so happy I stumbled across your channel. Sorry for asking so many questions.
I would say is pretty normal to get 4-5 days even when its on stand-by. There are other phones that use way less battery like the AGM M6, Servo R25, and Maxwest Neo 4G. They have call and text abilities, but they are the older kind. They last for 1 week for sure on standby. 2720 will have marginally better battery life than the 6300 4G
Ok, that’s good too know. I thought there’s something wrong with my battery. Thank you so much Jose for your recommendations. Will check it out! Cant wait to see more new videos!
What’s the hardware connectivity of the Nokia 6300 4g? Does it accept a standard 3.5mm plug for headphones? Is the FM radio antenna built in, or does it require an attachment? What Bluetooth version is supported? Thanks!
3.5mm is available. FM radio requires attachment, but there is a internet app that allows you to listen without it. Bluetooth 4.1. 4G LTE supported for VoLTE and VoWIFI
@@JoseBriones how would you compared the voice-to-text for this to the sunbeam f1, which i see you also reviewed. another review said the sunbeam had the best voice to text they've used.... thanks!
Pretty good review, except you don't say how well the phone actually makes and receives calls! The Google Assistant will not make calls, and when I tell it to set a timer, the "Assistant" will say that a timer has been set, but it never goes off. Have you had any of these issues with this phone?
Call quality has been excellent for me in my area with T-mobile. I have WiFi enabled and WiFi calling as well, so your unit may have issues from factory. Also, my google assistant works with those two commands above. I truly think you got a lemon or something is acting up, maybe doing a factory reset would help?

Can you send a link to the “Asian phones” you discussed that have better build quality? Looking for a smartphone detox phone with good build quality.
kyoex.com/categories/Shop-Flip-Phones/ They may not work in the USA
what u can say about the whatsapp? it is play good in this kaios phone? tks!
I wouldn't trust it anymore. They are pulling out of KaiOS per the latest news.
Hey Jose, does this phone or one similar do wifi calls?
Some KaiOS devices do. Others don't. The 6300 does have wifi calling on TMobile if I recall correctly.
@@JoseBriones Thank you very much
Great review! Is there a way to get an add-free version of KaiOS? Happy to pay for it! Thanks!
No way to get ad-free KaiOS sadly
any updates on this phone now that KaiOS 3.0 is out?
It won’t be updated.
Can you dive into the maps feature a bit more. Does it act like true Google maps? Does it tell you traffic and alternative routes? If there is a wreck while driving will it tell you to change course? I'm thinking this if the route I'm going to go, i just want to know what I'm getting myself into.
No. It's a list of steps to get to your destination. You have to switch to the next step when you are done with step 1 for example. It's not live turn by turn navigation. If you rely on GPS to get around I would not recommend it
@@JoseBriones is there a minimalist phone with live gps or do I need to look for separate devices? In a perfect world I would have email, gps and group texting. I work in healthcare and need email access at the least.
Hi Jose, thank you for the video. I just bought my new 6300 4g, and I am wondering what is the best way to transfer my contacts from my iPhone 8 to the Nokia. iPhone doesn't allow you to transfer contacts directly onto your SIM so I exported them as Vcard file and put them in a mini sd card. The Nokia is taking forever to import them from the sd card to the point that maybe that's not the way to do it? any suggestions?
Transfer them via Google Sync
Ah, I don't get why they stuff this simple device with bloatware. If I wanted that, I'd get any Android phone.
PS. Stil haven't cleaned the lens, I see. Maybe that's what causes the focus issues. :D
I had just come from a field day lol. But it has been cleaned in other videos :)
@@JoseBriones Oh, ok. :D The last two videos I've watched, Blackbery 10 and Xiaomi Qin still had them. Or maybe I'm just imagining them. :))
For YEARS. ..litterally years.... I PHYSICALLY FANTASIZE about carrying a bar phone again.(33yo) I miss them. The smartphones Now. Feel so .....disgusting. makes me feel dirty. Always so connected. Always listened to or watched. Or having to be forced to maintain the screen. Battery. Charger..size..
Capabilities..it's just OVER KILL already.. BIGGEST PROBLEM? being in the US 🇺🇸 and no one caring about bar phones. It's extremely difficult to figure out how to find a 4g decent bar phone .
Check out my filtering website www.josebriones.org/dumbphones and you can filter by candy bar phone :)
@@JoseBriones Thank you So very much. Very kind. I will do that today !
I would assume Maps would be an app that is used by a lot of people, when you get a chance it would be great to see that in action.
I’ve done a walkthrough of it on other videos. Check the KaiOS walkthrough or any of my livestreams with KaiOS phones.
I don't think there is a way to change the tone of sms as you comment below, or is it possible?
It was possible on a previous version. It is not anymore
Jose~ I have a very specific application. I'm taking incoming calls only & my only concern is a LOUD speakerphone~ how is the speaker on this? Thanks from Las Vegas!
No different than the speaker on an iPhone. It is pretty loud, but not SUPER loud. If you want a loud speakerphone, the AGM M7 is the one to go for.
Hi Jose, has it for wifi connectivity?
Yes. It does.
Can I use this with Visible network?
Does this have an app for "email" that has notifications or is it simply email through the browser? Same questions for the AGM M6 and M7?
Yes. It has a mail app with notifications. AGM M6 does not. M7 has full email clients.
@@JoseBriones Thank you!!
@@JoseBriones I looked some more into this and it seems the AGM M7 requires you to do a workaround with an apk to use email. Is that true? Can you also sync google calendar? The main things I need in my phone are email and calendar that can sync with my gmail accounts.I don't see those filters on your website, do you know which dumbphones have those two built in?
@@JoseBriones thank you!
On the fence about this one. I saw one person's review of this phone that the gps is wonky as you can't use it and have 4G on at the same time ? Does anyone know if that's true ?
so i got this phone but whenever im not connected to wifi the cellular data just doesnt work & idk why, i just switched my sim card from my old phone, its at&t & works for calls & regular texts but i cant connect to whatsapp when im not on wifi, is there a way to fix my cellular data to work on it
Call them to fix this. They need to activate the data manually
I notice the phone has a music app, but how are the files uploaded to the phone and where do they come from if the phone is not compatible with iTunes?
When you connect the phone to a computer, it acts like a USB
@@JoseBriones : So it can sync iTunes Library? Or do the files for iTunes downloads have to be converted to some other format and so on and so on...?

When I first purchased the Nokia 6300 the "voice-to-text" worked. After I updated the phone the "voice-to-text" was no longer available. Does anyone know how to get "voice-to-text" back?
Not possible once updated sadly.
Mine has signal problems even after setting apn for t mobile. Sometimes it goes into searching for signal which is the only bad side atm
Can you use Microsoft authenticator app on that phone?
Not possible.
Can you use it as a hot spot? How long will the battery hold when used only as a hot spot?
Yes you can use it as a hotspot. The hot spot drains about 7-10% per hour
Can you add a podcast app to this phone to be able to listen to podcast?
Yes.
@@JoseBriones cool thanks a lot! Just scored a Cyan Green one. Really good review you provided helped me to decide to get the Nokia 6300 4g.
does it have call recording feature?
Yes.
Which carrier are you using with the Banana Phone? The phone was not launched in the US and I have always been hesitant to buy it on eBay if it will not work on T-Mobile.
ATT for the 8110 (Bananaphone). Otherwise it won't work.
Thanks!
Is it supports google drive?can I get my contacts in it which I saved on my google account????
No Google drive. Google Sync also not available anymore.
I also want to start using it as a weekend phone to take a break from a smartphone.
Any issues with using this device with Consumer Cellular?
I don’t think it’ll be possible. Consumer Cellular only allows a selected number of devices sadly.
Is it worth to buy for a secondary phone?
And I am trying to using a feature phone for apart from device
There are better options like the Nokia 110 4G for secondary phone if all you are looking for is calls.
Hello, is IT possibile to run Deezer or Spotify?
Nope.
Can I use Bluetooth air dots or wireless headphones nokia 6300 4g
Yeah. You can use wireless headphones
Can it play java apps?
It cannot
Have you used the speech to text recognition at all? Wondering if it can generate text from speech to a file. Thanks!
It won’t be good for that. It’s only for simple commands and small texts.
@@JoseBriones how would you compared the voice-to-text for this to the sunbeam f1, which i see you also reviewed. another review said the sunbeam had the best voice to text they've used.... thanks!
The Sunbeam is the BEST by far. It’s even better than iOS or Android

Once again another great video. Looking forward to more videos.
More to come! Thanks for checking the content out :)
For me, I don't really have much of a choice. It's a nice KaiOS phone that works on Boost Mobile. What more do I need?
Pretty good review, except you don't say how well the phone actually makes and receives calls! I have a Nokia 6300 4G, and I cannot make or receive calls if I leave the wifi calling option on all the time.
@@JoseBriones I have Consumer Cellular. Could that be part of the problem?
It certainly could. I don’t know if they allow WiFi calling in KaiOS devices
Would you recommend this device to go internationally? I’m traveling soon to Latin America and I’m just looking for a phone I can use without risking losing or getting mugged for my iPhone.
It should work with some networks, but it won't work with all of them. It really depends on where you are going.
