Nevermind the "rumors" because many have been confirmed and right before our very eyes with the Aaliyah marriage, his songs, interviews, and now trial. The amount of people willing to support him is beyond me. And it worries me about the black children/teens, and especially black girls, whose abusers have been protected and even enabled by community.

The reason why it took so long to get R Kelly to be convicted, was because we as a society or even in the African American community don’t give enough attention to issues that affect Black women. It’s usually the attention to Black men and the main focus of talking about individual and systemic racism is towards Black men, and not enough towards Black women and Black people in the LGBTQ+ community.
There is room for both R Kelly and Harvey Weinstein. I was the biggest R Kelly fan, I had to go through all the memorabilia and throw it out. He’s probably the only one I truly canceled. His music was the soundtrack to my life and I had to let it go. I didn’t watch the documentary but I believe the victims.

So back in the 90's I was stabbed in the chest by a Crack head and died for a minute, just 60 seconds I woke up in an ICU and a Priest was reading my last rites. When he got to the part about God accepting me as one of his children I woke straight up, like I had been drunk sleep or something. I didn't learn my lesson from that and continued to be a professional criminal for about another 17 years before retiring, getting a 9 to 5, and pursuing a writing career. Don't really know why I'm writing this oh yeah cause they said Kelly Price died and came back, I'm kinda stoned right now. My point being I hope she's okay cause when I came back there was something missing, almost like I left something in the darkness... but that's a story for another time. What really gets me about the soaking thing is it's like how in Church women are asked to dress 'modestly' so as to not seduce the men. Soaking sounds only beneficial for the men. It's the idea that men can't control themselves so they had to find some idiotic way to accommodate them. We put so much pressure on women, especially black women, to exercise self-discipline. Starts in the house, we didn't get away with half as much as the males in our families so we're forced to grow up faster and give up of ourselves. It's exhausting
There are two things I want to point out: 1) if we cut off RK music, do his children then become affected or do we not care? Given that they are adults (just about) maybe it’s not important. 2) we must also remember that RK produced and wrote many songs. If we truly want to stand in this “boycott” then all has to go. Ex1: the other day “ice cream” by JS popped up in my head and when the song ended I heard RK voice and was shook. Didn’t know he had anything to do with that song. Ex2: about a month ago I felt the urge to listen to “where you at” by Jennifer Hudson but couldn’t find it just to find out he wrote it. This man is in many places, in many songs and collaborated with many artists.
It was the daughter who was concerned. She nor other kids didn't hear from their mother. She has the Vid almost died and not said Nothing to her kids!! Moved out hospital and could find her. I didn't learn my lesson from that and continued to be a professional criminal for about another 17 years before retiring, getting a 9 to 5, and pursuing a writing career.
Don't really know why I'm writing this oh yeah cause they said Kelly Price died and came back, I'm kinda stoned right now. R. Kelly is a literal monster and has been since I was a child. I stopped supporting him when I first heard about those rumors years back. My first thought when I heard he was found guilty was ‘FINALLY!!!!’ It took way too long
It’s sad when people of our community continue to support him, just like they continued to support Da Baby who is Da Dummy or Chris Brown. We need to stop supporting POC just because they are and hold whoever it is accountable because it affects us as a community. We don’t need that kind of representation.

I haven't finished watching the full podcast: I may be wrong but it is my understanding that you don't own the music you stream, so the company can take it away from you anytime they want, unlike CDs and tapes of the past. So paying for access to the music at a lower prices seems reasonable since we don't actually possess it.🤷🏾♀️
It’s stupid to me that someone one would say: You shouldn’t be able to have access to free/low spending streaming when a vast majority of artists themselves are for the market. It allows music to be shareable in a way it wasn’t before and artists want people sharing their music. If not, they’d just take their music off the platform

Angel spoke everything that my heart needed to hear. I wish she could have said more. We, black women are hurting. This is the first time that we have mattered publicly. FOR THE FIRST TIME! 😭😭😭 it’s taken nearly 500 years for us to matter publicly. Our predators have been men of all ethnicities. And that includes black men! And they should not be excluded from justice. Us being victimized isn’t a race issue it is a human issue. Black women are humans. We matter and always have. 😭

What really gets me about the soaking thing is it's like how in Church women are asked to dress 'modestly' so as to not seduce the men. Soaking sounds only beneficial for the men. It's the idea that men can't control themselves so they had to find some idiotic way to accommodate them. We put so much pressure on women, especially black women, to exercise self-discipline. Starts in the house, we didn't get away with half as much as the males in our families so we're forced to grow up faster and give up of ourselves. It's exhausting
There are two things I want to point out:
1) if we cut off RK music, do his children then become affected or do we not care? Given that they are adults (just about) maybe it’s not important.
2) we must also remember that RK produced and wrote many songs. If we truly want to stand in this “boycott” then all has to go.
Ex1: the other day “ice cream” by JS popped up in my head and when the song ended I heard RK voice and was shook. Didn’t know he had anything to do with that song.
Ex2: about a month ago I felt the urge to listen to “where you at” by Jennifer Hudson but couldn’t find it just to find out he wrote it.
This man is in many places, in many songs and collaborated with many artists.
