FANTASTIC! Awesome job Sage! Intro was beautiful, wish we could be there and it showed the column didn't fly away in the wind :) Thank you so much for the mentions! LOL @ 5:14
Hi Sage, GREAT VIDEO!!!! I have been doing columns, both using 4 and 5 balloon quad for some time. I do more 4 balloon quads so it is so nice to see the 5 balloon quad, different look, I like this one most. Because of my disease I have lost my "Creativity section of my brain and have absolutely NO short term memory, so I turn to you and all the other twisters for different ideas etc. Don't get me wrong, I test my brain everyday but my short term memory is gone. Cheers!! Lynn
+Lynn Keller thanks Lynn! yeah. this is pretty much one of my first columns so it was a lot of work to design and film. I have horrible short term memory as well but not due to any disability or disease. I will get better at making column vids. thanks for watching.
+john callaghan Thank you. I am trying to make the lessons interesting for my viewers. I will return to this place and film more in the future. I love to go "on location', haha.
Ok going to order lots of Balloon Round Colors on my next one so I can make these for a Halloween Party. I am thinking Skulls on Black and Orange or White. Maybe Witches Pumpkins etc.... Thanks for the Tutorial Bud. Inspiring
Glad you like it! Just remember that the skulls faces are to the side and won't be as clearly visible from the top, which is technically where you see all the rounds from on a column. I know you will come up with something awesome.
Looking good Sage! Send some good thoughts my way (prayers are also great!). Wednesday I'll be in Charlotte, NC passing my CBA... a little nervous - but well prepared! Keep up the videos... I love them! By the way, I use monofilament line (fishing line).. fast, easy & cheap!
LOL, I sure am getting a lot of tips on column building today. I know you will do great and no matter how many prayers or good vibes I send, I know you have the inner strength to prevail.
Hi, thanks so much! It is best to create these structures the night before, at the latest. You keep these in quite large plastic bags (50 gallon) airtight overnight so that the luster of the balloons remains fresh and they will not lose any air. This is one of my older videos so the techniques may be a bit outdated, so please check out some of my newer stuff if you get a chance. Thanks!
+khristalez hi there. I am using a Qualatex hand inflator. different inflators will require a different amount of pumps to fill the balloons to the desired amount but you can just scale the amount of pumps up or down to what works best with your inflator. If I did the bottom white 11' rounds at 8 pumps, you may want to do them at ten pumps each. maybe the middle star quads should be at 3 pumps each instead of 1 or 2. That type of thing. As long as they are all evenly inflated you can slightly adjust the number of pumps of air per balloon and can make the column widths and heights you like the best.
This was the one and only time I ever did it this way, but I have had some vegans tell me they like using twisting balloons in place of ribbon so that the whole column is biodegradable.
Are these balloons specifically round balloons or are they your normal every day balloons? I ask because I'm trying it and I don't seem to be getting that perfect sphere shape like the balloons you're using.
Hi, thanks a lot. I did a Deluxe Rambo tutorial a few months back that I could modify to fit Ryu's aesthetic. Someone recently asked me to create Eeyore and I failed even after over a week of trying, but this Ryu request should not be too tough. As long as I don't have to make Blanca or E. Honda lol
+HATSHE PINKBIKER hi there! I am new to column building but I believe it is because all the quads would be forced into the same tying point and I think they would be too tight to form a rising cylinder shape by the third stacked quad. I'm not being sarcastic; your question made me have to think a minute.
+HATSHE PINKBIKER the internal balloons used for tying form one long thick internal uninflated balloon and between each column are spaces separated by a section of that latex spine. I guess it would be like building a skyscraper where the floors were attached to the ceilings with no rooms inbetween.
+Mrscreative47 this is my first column, but I am getting better at décor. I released a new centerpiece video yesterday that I think you might like! It uses more techniques from Tanya from AMFAB.
that would be awesome, I saw your rainbow tutorial and I just made one last night. it came out pretty good. I gotta say I learned a lot from you.
Haha, I don't have a rainbow tutorial! but if that guy who made it was awesome, just pretend that was me lol
+Balloon Sage I guess I should check all my words before I post it. I meant Rambo.
Ohhhhh sorry lol. Give me a week and I will put a Ryu vid together for you. Thanks for watching!
Love it. Thanks so much for this tutorial, I'm sure I'll use it!
+Jessica Lewis you are welcome! I know it has a few strange techniques, but I am very happy with it.

+teresa henkel that's so nice of you to say. I just put out some new décor tutorials this week, if you would like to see more. Thanks for watching.

+Balloon Sage You're very sweet! Let me know if you ever need an extra Grandma - I'll "adopt" you in a heartbeat! :-)
I like the balloon Column but how do you keep it steady?
Just stumbled on your vids...You are amazing! How far in advance can I make these columns before they deflate? Thanks!

@@BalloonSage Actually I watched a few...just so happened this was the last one before I had a question. Thanks for the tips!
Editing was also fantastic!
I decided to try out some new editing ideas.
Balloon Sage It worked :)
+Balloon Sage Did you film this with your phone? If yes, is it an iphone? When I try filming outside with my camera the sky is white, lol!
yes, I have filmed every video ever put on my channel with an iphone 4S.
Balloon Sage Thank you! Wow, amazing quality! I have been trying to decide which new phone to get and I think it will be the iphone :)
Thank you
Thanks for watching!
nice balloon decor and handsome guy!!! perfect...n
Thank you, I'm glad you like it! 😎
Love this but was your pump a double pump because with my single pump doing the suggested amount of pumps they weren't the same size

Do you still do columns with 160 ties or only use ribbons now?

have your ever tried 6s?
Yes!
4 = quad
5 = star quad
6 = flower quad
love your videos, you are so funny awrsome classes..
Haha, this was my first balloon column! I remember having a lot of fun making this video.
You are hilarious!
Haha, well thank you!
awesome as always man. do you think you could do Ryu from Street Fighter?

Wow, that was really really nice! But couldn't you have just twisted the balloon into each other and it would have had the same effect?
