She passed away in 2015 from a heart attack. Problems with alcohol were a major issue in her life. She passed in her 60's. Her parents out lived her. So sad. She really was a country music icon. In fact, she was the only country music artist to sell out the Maddison Square Garden.

Her cause of death was a heart attack. I read she had difficulties with alcohol the last several years of her life, which is unfortunate. However, she sounds great here, and looks to be having a good time performing.

When I was a little boy I saw her perform at the half time show at that San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo and got to shake her hand. Most performers would come out and ride around the arena in the back of a convertible waving at everyone before taking the stage out in the middle. Not her. Lynn comes out wearing a blue sequin outfit and white cowboy hat riding a white horse like she was born in the saddle and goes all the way around the arena shaking hands and talking to all us kids hanging off the rails and took her sweet time to make sure she got to talk to everyone. When she was done she kicked the horse into a gallop and jumped off on to the stage to do her set. I've never seen anything like her and I guess I never will. I was gutted when she died. RIP Lynn. You were the best that ever was.

Even if it is more than 5 yrs. since this music video was posted and most likely, no one will read the comments. It doesn't matter, I need to post my comment for myself and how it makes me feel...
Thank you for posting this highly memorable song sung by the great and beautiful legend Lynn Anderson! ❤️ Today when this music video came up on my suggested feed, I instantly clicked on it and turned the speakers up on HIGH... I'm not ashamed the least bit, to say that through my streaming tears, I sang along with Lynn. I still to this day know every word and vocal-cords in it...
This brings back soooo many memories from when I was a small child. Way back when I thought life was finally going to be good, that there WAS love in the world. I was only 5 yrs old and had just been adopted, after having survived the worst abuse a child or, anyone for that matter could have been been forced to live through.
In a box in my new home, I remember finding a small battery driven handheld transistor radio 2 days after I had moved in with my new "parents". I didn't know what it was at first but, rolled the plastic roller thingy on the side and nearly dropped the radio when it started coming to life. THIS was the fist song I had ever heard in my 5 yrs of life. I am now 60 yrs. old and this will ALWAYS be my favorite song and Artist. It is the song that has always managed to give me hope, even if it is bittersweet...
I soon found that I had to hide this precious radio, since in my new home, I was not allowed to listen to "heathen music". 5 yrs old, I somehow managed to find an earbud to this transistor radio and would sleep with it under my pillow with the earbud in my ear.
It was my only comfort when I finally realized that, life is still not roses and sweet smelling flowers... And never was...
However, this little old beige colored radio was my lifeline, it was what helped me through the darkness and cruelty in life. It WAS what helped me survive and grow to be the strong individual I want to believe I am today. A WARRIOR for abused children and women.
With all that's going on today, I really needed to happenstance across this song and not only listen to it but also sing along. It has given me the courage to feel that, I CAN STILL FIGHT. I can still make a difference...
    Thank you 🙏

My partner was at Quang Tri Vietnam 70/71. Rose Garden would be regularly played on AFVN every 3/4 hours. At the army bases, fire support bases or in transports/APC’s if safe to do so radios would be turned up when Rose Garden was played.
Now 5 decades later each time he hears the song he’ll cry/tear up.
Brings back memories of his buddies who were KIA in VN or have passed since DEROS.

Can't BELIEVE this is Lynn Anderson's voice in 2011. Wow!!!! When this song was on top she performed at the fair near Paris TN. My brother and I were just little kids. We worked our way to the stage stairs. I wanted a kiss and he wanted her autograph on his shirt. She kissed my cheek with a big smile and signed his shirt. Lynn, Brother, Shirt, and Kiss are all gone now - but the memory remains. Till I have passed and then it's gone too. Thankfully music survives forever.
