This feels so weird seeing the horrors of black space in the chibi style. It’s a similar felling to when someone makes cutesy art of FNAF with no holding back on portraying the events the way Scott showed in the games.

Huh, they actually called it the "True Route" in the artbook. I guess that means that the Omori Route isn't canon.
Nah, its like undertale where the "true" route is the best route (pacifist) but it's the other use of the word 'true' meaning 'best or 'ultimate'. The hikikkomori route *could* be canon but we wouldn't know from the perspective of the true route, the thing about video games is that it's your story to explore..
