- JLS were a four-member British male pop/R&B vocal group consisting of members Marvin Humes, Ortisé Williams, JB Gill and Aston Merrygold. They auditioned for Series 5 of The X Factor UK and made it all the way to the final as part of the Groups category mentored by Louis Walsh. Thety made It all the way to the final to eventually finish 2nd Place in favour of Alexandra Burke.

JLS saved Louis' bacon that season without question because without JLS Louis would have been out of the running very quickly as the 2 girl band's he chose for the live shows Bad Lashes and Girlband weren't up to much at all.

Simon has got the flew, JLS are performers they are not a vocal harmony group. Cheryl is right to back them up

They never shoulda pushed Aston as the lead vocalist
They desperately needed another (Lead) SOLOist.... Ashton was doing way too much and needed help.... Ortise voice quality & confidence disappeared.... Marvin needed to drop the octave..... JB..... MERRY CHRISTMAS..... JB voice was underrated and underdeveloped, they shouldve pushed him more
JB they defo shoulda pushed more, even in their own songs it was always Marvin or Ashton taking a lead, JB very rarely has solo singing.

cheryl's right, they werent a vocal harmony group, they are terrible at singing. Ashton the only one who can hold a tune and he still manages to make it sound emasculated.
