Did not expect to hear an Aussie sea shanty here. Wreck of the Dandenong gave me chills and brought a tear to my eye, beautifully sung, thank you The Longest Johns.
As for "Willie Taylor," in the version I learned there was a verse or two about how she was wounded in a battle, and it was discovered she was a women when the surgeon was tending her wounds... Still one of my favorite songs (in my head, she and Willie Taylor's new bride end up together).
I've heard it done as William Taylor, and yes lots of great variations. My favourite ends: "And if all young men from Wells to London/Were treated thus, as she served he/Then all young women would be undone/And very scarce young men would be"
There’s another variation of that part where a really strong gale gets kicked up when she’s out at sea, and the buttons on her shirt get blown off revealing… yeah… Also doesn’t she kill Willie Taylor’s new wife?
I wish you would do Noyes/Ochs Highwayman.Phil Ochs has been dead 50 years now but I still love his songs I think you guys would sing this brilliantly.
Ahh it was so good to hear Shanandoah! I recently first heard this gem recently sung by Stormy Weather Shanty Choir and I so hoped to hear you gents sing it too! Did NOT disappoint!!!
Curious if The Longest Johns have done a cover of Whale of a Tale from the classic 20000 Leagues Under the Sea? I enjoyed your cover of Heart of Oak which I will always associate with Disney's Blackbeard's Ghost.
Is this guy the singer from AC4 shanties (oficial) ? He has an voice so close.. i love so much those chanties so im here thanks of them and these guys singing it.. listened all day all these recorded streams, so great!!! thank you Make me feel sailing or an medieval tavern
Missing Dave. I really enjoy these "only songs", they are like a mini concert during my work day. One small request, can you align the ads to fall between songs?
Ok so I know y’all are a bunch of brits but I would be so happy if y’all would indulge an American boy like me with a rendition of the Cumberland crew or union dixie, hell it’d be even better to hear y’all singing “John Paul jones was a fighting man”
It's still so weird to see only three of them
Some songs will never sound the same, but it doesn't stop me from listenin
Still great
It’ll be sad to see this go from a trio, to a duet, an then fall to a solo
@@IHatoHandelsno wonder they sang binks’ brew
What happened to the 4th one?
This version of the Mingulay Boat Song is astoundingly adequate.
The occasional awkward moments make these streams seem less rehearsed and more natural, just right.

I'm so in love with Willie Taylor, it gave me goosebumps on my first listen-through and I can't stop going back to re-listen!
25:32 😂 JD sustaining that Db2 like: 😮👍🏼
They cut it way down he did that for like twice or thrice as long
@@jplayzow I so have to check that one out
@@alexkarlsson660 please do it's 🤩
Stephen Foster died at 36 with 30 cents to his name, but his songs are still sung 150 years after his death.
Well thats upsetting :(
Nantucket never disappoints in giving me adequate chills.
I once knew a man from Nantucket, ya know

So she turned necrophiliac, i see. That would be another interesting turn in this story.
Delightful as always, and the vowel roulette during Shenandoah gave me the best laugh I've had in a while. 😂
Very adequate. I loved willie taylor.
They just keep getting better.
Cracking as always, sad I missed it last night 😢 won’t make the same mistake at the end of the month!
Please come somewhere I can get to, Detroit, Ann Arbor or Chicago. I’m 72, I can’t wait forever.
They’re coming to Chicago n May! I’ve already bought tickets.

I’ve wanted them to do Shenandoah for years.
I love your arrangement of we all lift together. watching you all play warframe would be an experience
Oh gods I agree
We need "sleeping in the cold below" too
You guys should do a studio video of Shanandoah
Thank you for a great stream. Thank you for the Bandcamp uploads today too!

Check out Paul Robeson’s version.
I think the banjo may have seen a gap and decided to launch a band domination bid. Even the (hardly shy and retiring) red box can't compete.
You guys need to come to North Wales, Beddgelert maybe........ 😅

Can you fix the timestamps in the description please? :)
Oops! Done ✅
I'm so used to hear you through condenser mics, you straight up sound strange from sm58s :)
Was Eli in love with Molly Malone?
Screw this, banana
Love your music but the thumb nails have been pretty click baitey lately
They haven't had any clickbait thumbnails as far as I can tell. Do you have an example?
@user-ns5dp6ub8q it was pretty easy to mistake this one at first glance as actually the Blade Runner poster :-) mind you, I'm fairly slow.
