I'm actually surprised how realistic the handling in the pre-alpha is. There's actually gonna be a major incentive to upgrade the car, unlike FlatOut where upgrades had minimal effects on the handling of the car.
Practise with an S is a verb. Practice with a C is a noun. At least, that's how we do it here in the UK. I guess in North America you just always use the C? Anyway, this game looks so awesome!
Only almost? That must mean you're not drinking enough juice. You'll only know you're getting enough Vitamin C when your laptop is drenched in orange juice.
You can click on the highlighted red button in the car selection menu to add some extra horses and tarmac or gravel tyres to the cars, Kurt. The tyres at least should cure the tail-happiness a bit.
i always found for Flatout 2 that if you take out the easy cars early you can let the big cars kill each other then you should be on higher health than the majority of the last couple of cars
Kurt, firstly, the person who is moving slower in the crash is the car that takes the damage, so juts plow head long into everything, also, the little red button above the car will give you tire and engine options
Oh man, you're right, that damage indicator looks almost exactly like the one in Destruction Derby... Oh, the nostalgia... I used to play the purple car!
They're using more correct grammar in this game apparently. Practise is used as the verb while Practice is the noun. Atleast in the UK, in America they use Practice for both. /pedantic Awesome video as per usual, Kurt!
I bought this yesturday after seeing Nerd³'s video on it, but haven't gotten to try it yet, will it work well with a Logitech G27 or is it too arcadey? Does it have Force Feedback yet? If so is it any good?
Indy7272 I was on the fence yesterday but now I just bought it because wheels are supported and it's got FF. This game is going to be fun! *EDIT* TWENTY FOUR 2) cars in one race??!!?!? FUCK ME!!
this game looks so fun, im a big fan of the Flatout franchise, developed by bugbear too, but i think the destruction physics are too agressive, maybe a 25% less will do for me :D Great videos cheers!
You are the second out of 19 RUclips spellcheckers I have seen in my life that has made sure THEIR spelling was right before correcting other's spelling. Good Job! Lawl
Demolition derby was one of my favorite games when i was younger. gonna buy this on steam later for sure. hope they make this able to play with friends over lan or something
The Second car you drove isn't horrible. In real life it won many off road races in Germany and around the world. The engine is in the back therefore its very light but not swell balanced. Its a sorta minicooper except the germans made it along with a few other countries.
The memory card should still be good, in theory - the data itself wouldn't degrade unless the card was damaged, and the internal battery might still be feeding juice to it. If not, then it might be well and truly dead. Show a vid if it's still alive, it'd be interesting to see
I know. It's because they used RAM instead of storing it like an SSD - it was just cheaper to use volatile memory. Of course, it needs a constant charge to work, otherwise the data is gone... and there's the problem in a nutshell.
***** My brother beat Super Mario World before our Super Nintendo had to be packed up...6 years later, the cart can't even remember a save for a full minute anymore. :(
Sean Willmore I know...i just don't have any security bit screwdrivers to fit the cart screws! I could totally replace that battery otherwise...and my SNES is rarely used now anyways, so why buy a $40 security bit screwdriver set for a $40-50 dollar console unless you collect these old consoles?
Sounds like you really enjoy this game so far! It's definitely following in the footsteps of it's FlatOut predecessors, which is not a bad thing! Those games were full of fun, destruction, and just flat out (ha) ridiculous things happening every race.... Never played a racing game where I saw so many unlikely situations in such a short amount of time xD I think that was probably the strength that carried the series, just the sheer ridiculousness of it all.
It's just a damn garage, no coincidence. Well actually it feels like deja vu. The game itself reminds me of Flatout. Although its designed that way lol.
Destruction Derby 2 was amazing. I too have a saved replay where I managed to survive the onslaught on Death Bowl... really was one in a million. Red Pike Arena was still the best though ;)
There's two types of PreAlphas: games that seem practically complete, and games that have literally nothing in common with the end game. This seems practically complete.
That car selection screen looks like a WoT or WT menu

I'd love to get my hands on this but alas, I'm spending Christmas at my parents and my PC is 150km away from me! This game looks so promising, I've been in love with it ever since the first pre-alpha sneak peek.
that's pretty much always been the way the developers have been. They work HARD getting the game where they want before they even consider providing it to the general public. I loved both Flatouts and they too looked perfect in alpha
This is made by the same company, Bugbear, to be a spiritual successor to Flatout, after the Flatout series itself got derailed after Bugbear sold the rights to it and the other company screwed it up :D
Hum... the garage menu looks a lot like the one in "world of tanks" or "world of war planes". Even the research button is there... can it be that we will see a "world of cars" game?
Yo guys go to 16:35-16:40 in the video just watch the blue car at the right side of the screen just about to hit him, then he is nailed by another car. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EPIC
in demolition derbies, if your going faster, you will not take damage, however they will. Your car may look fucked up, but it will not count towards your actual damag, in other words, whoever hits the other person harder only gets visual damage.
Race definitely looks a lot funner than derby. I really would like to seem them go balls out on the physics. Would be so much funner with better driving physics.
Kurt... IT WOULD BE THE EQUIVALENT OF, IF NOT ACTUALLY, A SIN TO NOT INCLUDE AT LEAST G27 SUPPORT! Hopefully they add code for the RPM lights too, as few games actually use the RPM led's on the g27.
I was running on 8gb of ram with all the quality all the way down, but mine was lagging constantly even with 12 cars, are you running a computer or laptop?

Anyway, this game looks so awesome!
GOD DAMN IT KURT... i almost sprayed my laptop with orange juice when you said 'I am now driving a TRICYCLE!'
Only almost? That must mean you're not drinking enough juice. You'll only know you're getting enough Vitamin C when your laptop is drenched in orange juice.
Next Car Game is a working title.
Kurtical Damage!
Kurt, firstly, the person who is moving slower in the crash is the car that takes the damage, so juts plow head long into everything, also, the little red button above the car will give you tire and engine options
For a Pre Alpha, the visuals are pretty good.
That's gonna be huge fun ones it's finished :)
Wow, that looked like a lot of fun! I remember playing demolition derby on the PS, this looks like that only "next-gen"!
Demolition derby the main pole of this game? I would think not, sir!
Destructive racing is where this game shines!
One of the first to see another video of Next car game, YAY!
Kurt, this car is not horrible, your just did a horrible job at driving.
Is it me or is it painful to watch Kurt drive :L
kurt where was coop this last weekend?
he was at Christmas...
For some reason, that little smooshed together car was the funniest thing I've seen today.
That was pretty great...
I'm glad you understand what understeer is and how ABS works and the effects when not enabled under heavy braking. Major kudos
Kurt, I've had my memory cards for 13 years. The ps2 still recognizes them :D
From Nerd Cubed to Kurtjmac! Yes!
/pedantic
Awesome video as per usual, Kurt!
You can change the tires.
Demo Derby The Pit was the one with the, well, pit. That game is childhood. And not to mention insane fun!
Next car game: Has better spectators than Forza 5.
I bought this yesturday after seeing Nerd³'s video on it, but haven't gotten to try it yet, will it work well with a Logitech G27 or is it too arcadey? Does it have Force Feedback yet? If so is it any good?
Wheel support is great and there is FF.
Indy7272 I was on the fence yesterday but now I just bought it because wheels are supported and it's got FF.
This game is going to be fun!
*EDIT*
TWENTY FOUR 2) cars in one race??!!?!?
FUCK ME!!
mtlnascarfan . Everybody was asking for more cars on the forums - and BugBear listened :)
this game looks so fun, im a big fan of the Flatout franchise, developed by bugbear too, but i think the destruction physics are too agressive, maybe a 25% less will do for me :D Great videos cheers!
I'm really liking this game kurt.
Its Fiat 850 Rallycross. And you drive the Challenger
Oh this takes me back to the days of Destruction Derby 64... I want this game!
You can just hear kurt having fun in this game….love it :D
I always remembered having tons of fun playing Test Drive: Eve of Destruction. I love games like this.
After seeing this video I thought about buying it but then found the tec demo and now is signing up for Bugbear
"I'm stuck in this guy" -Secret Saturdays
dem physics and handling look sweet
When you don't have abs on your brakes will lock up causing you to keep going straight, so don't brake so hard. That way you can still turn.
Kurt, both "practise" and "practice" are correct spelling. (Btw, I checked it on google translator, so I'm not 100% sure if I'm correct.)
*****
Practise is to practice as advise is to advice ;)
You are the second out of 19 RUclips spellcheckers I have seen in my life that has made sure THEIR spelling was right before correcting other's spelling. Good Job! Lawl
Demolition derby was one of my favorite games when i was younger. gonna buy this on steam later for sure. hope they make this able to play with friends over lan or something
That was a really fun video. Merry Christmas, Kurt!
The similarities to Demolition Derby 2 are no coincidence. ;)
The Second car you drove isn't horrible. In real life it won many off road races in Germany and around the world. The engine is in the back therefore its very light but not swell balanced. Its a sorta minicooper except the germans made it along with a few other countries.
And you need vanes to drive it.
This games reminds me of the best race game ever Driven to Destruction on the PS2
I would like to see more spectacles like 10:23 in racing games!
And at 7:20, that was awesome.
omg kurt i haven't laughed at a video like i did in a LONG time. thank you for this video and happy holidays!
Great video. Very entertaining, and the game looks awesome. Takes me back to DD2.
The memory card should still be good, in theory - the data itself wouldn't degrade unless the card was damaged, and the internal battery might still be feeding juice to it. If not, then it might be well and truly dead. Show a vid if it's still alive, it'd be interesting to see

***** My brother beat Super Mario World before our Super Nintendo had to be packed up...6 years later, the cart can't even remember a save for a full minute anymore. :(
The battery went bad. It might be possible to open it up and replace it. You could do that with Gameboy carts, anyway.
I hope they keep things this silly
Hello, Kurt! Welcome back to your computer!
I bought it myself and have to say: this game is AWESOME! looking forward to the oncoming contents
With a good race engine this game has the chance of being one of the most realistic sims ever.
I really enjoyed that ! :D Derby Cars + Kurt = A ton of Fun ;) Looking forward for the next one!
It's from the makers of flatout if you've never heard of it check it out. The most underrated game of all time in my opinion amazing.
"THAT GUY'S STEALING A TIRE!"
I died there.
So this is pre-alpha? Wow, I'm impressed. Honestly, if the game itself is good, I wouldn't mind this graphics already.
Man this game looks like tons of fun! Great vid Kurt!
Sounds like you really enjoy this game so far! It's definitely following in the footsteps of it's FlatOut predecessors, which is not a bad thing! Wait, the garage looks like WoT.
or War thunder or wold of planes...
It's just a damn garage, no coincidence.
Well actually it feels like deja vu.
The game itself reminds me of Flatout. Although its designed that way lol.
He means the car selector
CryfireChannel
Especially since it is made by the same people!
at9670 I thought war thunder and world of planes were the same game?
in Sweden this racingsport is called folkrace and in Finland where this game is made its called Jokamiesluokka (Everyone's Class). And its awsome
MERRY CHRISTMAS KURT!
It was called Destruction Derby 2
I've still got both flatouts on ps2 they were my favorite game, I hope it comes out for play station
Flatout.
Same devs.
Oh, Bugbear is cool.
foojam2002
they don't have the rights to the name flatout (it lies with microsoft I think), so they can't call it that
This looks unbelievable. Like Burnout meets Trackmania
Destruction Derby 2 was amazing. I too have a saved replay where I managed to survive the onslaught on Death Bowl... really was one in a million. Red Pike Arena was still the best though ;)
the panel with the 2 cars looks like war thunder plane selection or even the world of plane selection plane
Yeah... that garage reminds me more on World of Tanks hangar...
yay a vid from kurt merry christmas kurt
merry Christmas kurt :)
21st out of 19.... I can't facepalm any harder Kurt! Gimmie a break!
This reminds me of destruction derby raw. PLEASE put in a skyscraper mode.
There's two types of PreAlphas: games that seem practically complete, and games that have literally nothing in common with the end game. This seems practically complete.
Really hope they include the playground in the final game. it was a lot of fun.
That car selection screen looks like a WoT or WT menu
I'd love to get my hands on this but alas, I'm spending Christmas at my parents and my PC is 150km away from me! This game looks so promising, I've been in love with it ever since the first pre-alpha sneak peek.
YOU. MUST. DO. MORE. OF. THESE. VIDEOS!
This looks so awesome!!!
What I'm surprised about is how this game is in pre-alpha, the game looks finished!
(other then the small options for cars, maps and A.I)
that's pretty much always been the way the developers have been. They work HARD getting the game where they want before they even consider providing it to the general public. I loved both Flatouts and they too looked perfect in alpha
Graphics are just half the game...so this game is slightly over half finished at this video's point in time! Lawl
This game reminds me about my favourite game in my childhood, Flatout
This is made by the same company, Bugbear, to be a spiritual successor to Flatout, after the Flatout series itself got derailed after Bugbear sold the rights to it and the other company screwed it up :D
Oh really? I must have this then x)
You forgot to show you can change the engine and tires.
That derby reminds me of Flatout, I really enjoyed that game :)
Hum... the garage menu looks a lot like the one in "world of tanks" or "world of war planes".
Even the research button is there... can it be that we will see a "world of cars" game?
yeah it's just awkward
no
I Wouldn't Think So... But Maybe!
I think somebody needs to make a Dakar rally game in this engine...
And probably every other racing game you could think of.
Merry Christmas/Hanukkah/Eid al-Adha/Yule/Kwanzaa!
That race was awesome
Hmm.. multiplayer with you and Vintagebeef on this game.. wonder if he'd be up for it. Has enough craziness alone in just the single player :P
Muscle Car is a '73 Pontiac Firebird TransAm
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!
"Oh my gosh that guy....was a guy" best part
Little racing tip for ya, Kurt...
Start braking BEFORE you get to the turn instead of in the middle of it.
Race definitely looks a lot funner than derby. I really would like to seem them go balls out on the physics. Would be so much funner with better driving physics.
Merry Christmas
This game better be out on console like the flatouts where! This defines my type of racing game.
Kurt...
IT WOULD BE THE EQUIVALENT OF, IF NOT ACTUALLY, A SIN TO NOT INCLUDE AT LEAST G27 SUPPORT! Hopefully they add code for the RPM lights too, as few games actually use the RPM led's on the g27.
G27 + force feedback bucket seat + oculus rift = driving heaven
maksuree or you could get a shit car for cheaper
key word being shit
''omg this car is horrible'' Maybe it helps if you change to tarmac tires in the garage :d
This is his first time with the alpha.
I was running on 8gb of ram with all the quality all the way down, but mine was lagging constantly even with 12 cars, are you running a computer or laptop?
i sure hope the grip physics are right because there should be a lot of countersteer on dirt.......I hope
Great Vid! Laughed my arse off at some of the carnage.
Please! I want tuning like in Crash N Burn back in old times! That would be the greatest game EVAH!
If i get the alpha today, will i be able to play the final game once its available?
