    As a swede it makes me proud that we have been able to produce and provide such a potent weapon to the ukrainians that protects the life of the humans operating it. At the same time, the war makes me immensely sad because there are two brothers fighting and killing each other for no good reason. • @PannkakaMedSylt
      @PannkakaMedSylt 2 месяца назад +3

      Aye, actully there's been a number of comfirmed russian older tank models thats been taken out by CV90 40mm cannon alone, (T80's and such) Not from Penetrating it's front hull or such, but rather completly disabling it, Breaking most sensors, stripping it of reactive armours leaving it vunerable to other forms of attacks more & breaking their tracks, thus Crew abandoning it and later on either permanently destroyed by Ukrainian soldiers or salvaged!
      Neither of these situations are like normal, and rare as IFV's in general are not supposed to engage tanks on purpose.

  • @generalgrievous3771
    @generalgrievous3771 9 дней назад

    many people blame the CV90 for its bad armourment or the “weak canon” (at least in mz country, Switzerland. We also use CV9030 as our light tanks) But if we compare him not to a Leopard or a T-90 but to a Beadley or a Marder, the CV90 outperforms them in almost every category. A CV90 could battle with 4 Bradley’s and would still win. He is a tank that can be easily modified. You can improvise and it would still work. Sweden made a hell of a job there and i couldn’t imagine a better IFV for my country.

      @SonsOfLorgar 2 месяца назад +20

      And that's only on the 40mm variant used only by Sweden and Ukraine.
      The 40mm main gun was chosen for the CV90 because Sweden had more surplus 40mm/L60 Bofors AA guns and ammo in cold war mobilisation storage when the CV90 was first designed than our scrap metal industry could process, and our ammo industry could easily develop a 40mm APDS round with enough penetration to skip a Bradley or BMP style anti tank missile launcher completely.
      The regular export versions of the CV90 has 30mm or 35mm belt fed chainguns, and the latest also carries either a SpikeLR or Acheron ATGM launcher😊

    Ukrainians, turning a troop carrier into a self propelled gun. Sure, not as large shells as proper artillery, but against small concentrations of dismounted infantry it should work nicely.
    The fact the gun is accurate enough in that configuration however, is probably something to be proud of as a Swede.

    Would be great for the Ukrainians if they received other variants of the CV90 such as the CV90 Mjölner or AMOS both are designed for close artillery support than having to rely on long range artillery guns and missile systems like the M777, HIMARS, etc., and especially the CV90120 with its 120mm main gun and pair it up with the CV9040, the pair would give the Orcs something to seriously think about surrendering or retreating.

      The Ajax is an advanced combat reconnaissance vehicle, the CV-90 primarily designed as an infantry fighting vehicle, though it can be upgraded to a similar role there are potential penalties due to the increased weight, etc. that would entail, though I still think we'd have been better off adopting the CV-90, the Warrior is still very capable in the IFV role as well.

Granted high end missiles & aircraft would likely easily avoid such balloons but it occurs to me that it could make drone attacks especially on civilian targets more difficult & possibly force drones into a defensive kill zone.
