Something I dont understand..why they do the swim shorter? Bike has the same distance and its even more dangerous..Or you can cancel the swim or you keep the distance. 15min swim is a joke!! Why they didnt do 45km bike?? A shame

I think from an organizational point of view, typically a mishap on a bike you send an ambulance. Usually if there is an accident it's one person. On water it's usually multiple people and it's much much harder to save them. Additionally, on the bike you can be safer by reducing your speed, you have more control over your safety. There isn't anything you can do technically to improve your safety on a rough swim.
