    I'm a long time xingyi practitioner and trained with wing chun guys. This is cool to see this because the WC guys I've seen that did xingyi became monsters, no one could touch them.

    This is how Isshinryu karate punches too, transferring energy from the Earth up through the relaxed dan tian and whipping out through the fist. Very interesting!

      Kung Fu people do know how to fight! It just depends how u train. Most karate and kung Fu have lost their warrior ways. It done got commercial

      The technique is the same but the power generation is different.

      Wow, I learned Isshin Ryu 50 yrs ago, don't recall that. We learned Peng as crushing fist back in the early '80s.

    Many thanks Adam from Spain. Me too practiced Wing Chun and Xing Yi. I learned Lun Kai Foshan style, later Chan Chee Man Ving Tsun and now Gulao Pin Zan Wing Chun (the last Wing Chun by Leung Jan). Gulao style it's an inner system and connects very well with Xing Yi.

    It's nice that you're shining a light on xingyi out of the many many martial artists that I've encountered xingyi practitioners definitely have an unusual heavy power And a similar strategy to Wing Chun really great kung fu. Although the five element fists appear very simple they require a fairly intense amount of practice to achieve skill with

    Do you have any commentary on Jack Dempsey , HW champ at only 180 pounds, and Hsing Yi? I know he broke many bones and ruptured organs when he won the belt from Willard, who was really a large guy. Dempsey also studied Japanese Jujitsu and wrote a book about power generation for fist fighting, based on the "falling step".

    @Adam Chan What's this? I've found a channel that features internal martial arts but also admires boxing? I have heard of such mythical places, but I never thought I'd find one.

    Thanks Sifu Adam, very good video. However, are you supposed to stump your back foot when you punch or using the Rooster steps of thrusting? I have also studied Baji. And the heavy stumping has caused damages to both of my knees.

    • @johnchiang485
      @johnchiang485 Год назад

      @@LooneyBinUK The stumping is required in Baji. However, some sifu don't know not to stump hard on hard surfaces. There are not much rebounding force you can get except shocks right back to your joints. As for the wood punches, you shouldn't straighten & snap your punches as it should be in any martial arts. If you do that you will get the results that you got. The power you get from this punch is from your whole body mechanics & not only from your arms.

    • @johnchiang485
      @johnchiang485 Год назад

      @@LooneyBinUK It is getting the rebounding force to add more power to your attacks. It really depends on the posture of your body when you stump. If done wrong, like you said, it will rattle your brain. I don't practice stumping hard anymore as it's not healthy for me to do so. Maybe if you find the right sifu, he/she will explain how to do it correctly.

    Great explanation thank you . I have always called this style of punching "Rock'm Sock'm Robots" because it reminds me of the toys from the 70's ! And targeting the bladder/ pelvis area is so underused in my opinion . For one it SUCKS getting hit there and two, it's almost always open . We don't really have to same flinch response to it the way he do the head and groin .

    It's also a great method to break out of clinches and holds and get past/inside someone to follow up or take them down.

    Do San Ti Shi for a few months. Then add "Six direction force". When you can initiate the movement in six directions from doing that, you can start with the Five Elements and have a chance to do real Xing YI and not just Xing.
