I have got to do this with a Toshiba Satellite, I have a big black bar creeping across the screen right to left but its actually thin lines like fingers and as they creep so they make a block I have been told if its Chip set, say good bye to it, I hooked it up to another screen and no bar, so I am hoping its not the chipset, still worth looking lol.

its not the hinges that are the problem.its the plastic is to weak

Do you have a video or some advice on how you were able to get the broken tab side open. Sadly the busted tab thing just happened to me also.
How do you repair the hinge and how do you stick the screen back down?
Can you tell if the hinge caps can be dismantled and put back on new hinges?
where can I buy hinges ?
