I finished my first Ultimate Campaign Victory last night using Skulltaker. The last few turns were a slog. They were taking >1hr each just moving around hundreds of Blood Hosts and making more every turn. I eventually started deleting them if they fell too far behind the front line.
@@cecilofs My campaign ended on turn 69. Its ridiculous. Just run through every province bouncing from lord to lord, if you run out of movement, fight battle with bloodhost to give main lord more movement and theres 100s of them. Autoresolve is joke. Demons cannot die, each fight entire army is restored to full. Enemy cannot kill bloodhosts as they get left with 0 health instead of dying and each autoresolve win spawns more and heals them to full. I did have fun, this was on legendary btw.
@LegendofTotalWar you can actually make Skulltakers movement even more absurd by maxing out the Nemesis Crown. Also you can create 3 bloodhost armies from one battle by beating a lord, winning the battle, and then razing the settlement at the same time. You can also achieve 90% demonic reforging for bloodhosts, so you can essentially auto resolve battles that you’re not going to win over and over until you do because the enemy army has fought bloodhosts armies until their units are dead. Also if you get the Madds map enchantment item it gives you 50% extra movement range.

I played Skulltaker on the Old World Map mod and I really enjoyed it, but even though I'm not someone who goes out of their way to cheese/exploit, by the time it was turn 30 I was already level 45 after fighting Tamurkhan, Malakai, Archaon and Kholek. I feel like that's completely in line with CA's intention with Skulltaker though; the whole theme of the campaign is about taking out the strongest champions and absorbing their power like Highlander. I eventually stopped the campaign after reaching Zharr-Naggrund and sacking it (In TOW mod, Zharr-Naggrund goes from being one settlement to a multi-province behemoth) and I had so much money, skulls, settlements and units that I was practically unbeatable. Being able to gain movement after victories meant you can steamroll through whole provinces in a single turn like Taurox, AND Skulltaker can teleport to enemy armies, further increasing your momentum. It's honestly one of the most fun I've had in a Chaos Daemon campaign full stop.

@@Gonzakoable The game does have multiplayer campaigns, granted I do think it's not really something to focus too much on, but I can see that if the AI ever did as Skulltaker, get all the cloak bonuses, then you as a player, would probably hate fighting him. Yeah, a couple friends and I loaded up for a multiplayer campaign the day the DLC came out. I picked Skulltaker. As soon as I started reading his skill tree, cloak of skulls effects, and looking at the champion's essence mechanic, the first thing I said was "this guy is busted". He's overtuned to the extreme.
Teleporting to enemy lord with pretty negligible cost alone opens so much exploits. Then there is the fact that he takes a huge portion of the total exp earned by the enemy lord. And divides up it to allies. And refreshes movement speed after winning fights. And revives dead demons after combat. And probably half a dozen other things I didn't even bother to notice.
The RP is funny too. The High Elves were having a tense battle with the Dark Elves and then Skulltaker shows up and razes half of Ulthuan in one turn. Similar thing when Karl was up north fighting Chaos only to come home to the empire in flames.
If you think about it, what this creates is a world of eternal war, where everyone is forced to constantly fight, or train to become worthy foes, so they will be worth fighting even more. This is what Khorne's paradise looks like.
God bless you for this legend. I started a campaign this week and have been really struggling, around turn 20 or so with Skulltaker at level 20. Still in Lustria with about a dozen settlements and ruins. None of the lords would fight me and they all force march away whenever I approach, and everyone declared war immediately so wherever I go they just attack my settlements from the rear. I had no idea other lords refunded Skulltakers movement, so now I should be able to go and catch these absolute cowards.
Legend, regarding Johann the Daemon Hunter’s skull, might have missed it but that skull is super broken as well just because your units now can not die even if you lose the battle or lose the unit itself. Right after the battle it will fully replenish itself back to 50% (or 100% with the according tech). They essentially get the vampire counts raise dead mechanic.
Arbaal feels pretty broken too, you can teleport around the map hunting lords on your terms, as much as you want, wich menas if you know what you are doing, you can farm all the strong traits really fast and snowball around. It's my first time playing khorne, all max difficulty, by turn 25 I already feel too strong for anyone to threaten me lol
All of the new factions are ridiculously OP at the moment. Arbaal and Skulltaker kind of for the same reasons as each other. Some of Gorbads tactics mean you can create doomstacks of all different types of units once you unlock them, plus, the squig manglers are just stupidly strong anyway. Golgfag you can get so much gold and meat so quickly it makes the game trivial by like turn 20, I started a campaign with him and just gave up by turn 30 as it got super boring. He's the only one I would say it's actually a bad thing, zero challenge plus the way his contracts work you kind of have to stop and spend a few turns just walking across the map every now and again, or else you just get stuck in one area. Could have done with some kind of narrative to his campaign to give you something to aim for in my opinion, would stop it getting boring so quickly
If doing the defeat stacking on an enemy legendary lord to make a super essence farm it would be more worth the time and effort to do it on a lord like Vlad, Morghur, or Tamurkhan that come back in 1-2 turns after dying to drastically speed up the payoff.
It being so OP later on is justified imo because its start is probably one of the hardest, especially at higher difficulties. Spent about 30-45 turns beating back attacks from all sides in Lustria. After I tore the initial enemies apart, I started snowballing.
Honestly - the higher the difficulty the more lords you get to fight, it's going to be easier. Your progress on the campaign matters not, as long as you are getting enough essence to get to bloodhost replenishment and the game's over. Skulltaker can also befriend skaven, rakarth & Luthor. You have a panic button in the form of the teleport, allowing you to save your strugling front or just moving out of lustria. Khorne is also well matched against Bretonia, early empire & lizardmen.
I think the cheese of sitting outside towns gates and farming lords was intended - that’s literally what his cinematic on the lord selection shows isn’t it?
Skulltaker in campaign battles is OP AF. I got him to a speed of 120 and melee a/d of 142/91. Paired with the massive charge bonus he can get he OBLITERATES lords.
My first campaign of the new DLC. I got rid of all the exp banner, used Skulltaker ti bee-line to their lord. He has no problem with anything else getting in the way. Rest of my army cleans up. I didnt even take redline for my army, and used basic troops. Didnt use any cheese tactics and still blew through the campaign.(very hard, very hard).
Just finished a Skulltaker campaign with my first domination victory. I thought it was fun, definitely broken but fun. It was a nice change from the normal
gotta love the chesse you can get in the current version of khorne making tens of thousands every battle summoning free powerful bloodhosts everywhere (a combination of techs, Arbaal's "blessings of khorn" mechanic, and confederated skarbrand for +3 units to new bloodhosts (all characters) ) and I don't even have Skulltaker yet which sounds like he's completely busted
This campaign was wild. I had conquered all of Lustria by turn 20, then teleported over to Skarbrand, and conquered most of Warhammer Africa by turn 40. It was entertaining for a bit, but it's probably not a campaign I'll come back to because I won so early and so easily. I got maybe 8 hours of content from it, which is enough for it to have been worth it, but I am saddened by the lack of replayability.
I downloaded the new DLC yesterday and am now 200 rounds into it, I have completed the campaign missions but I'm continuing to play because I want to conquer the whole world. First I had a military alliance with 26 factions and was at war with 30 factions. It was a battle between humans and demons. Kislev and Empire caused problems, as did the vampires. But it was only because you can teleport that I first destroyed Empire in the middle of Reinland and then gradually the enemy allies. The humans were all defeated and now more than half of my allies started to declare war on me. I'm still in the process of defeating them. Only Tzeencht Slaneesh and my Khorne Chaos brothers remained loyal to me until the end. The Orks, Skaven and Nurgels cannot be trusted; I should have wiped them out at the beginning, but I spared them.
7:35 I think that while removing the global bonuses for high bloodletting they also removed the global penalties for low/0 bloodletting meaning that having an army sit around and recruit for a bit or just traveling longer distances doesn't hurt you other than making their first battle harder to get the bloodletting going again.
There was a mod that gave very mild global bonuses to resource buildings, and it was VERY broken, since there are a lot of such provinces and the effects stack up really fast really strong. Khorne resource buildings give even more. Absolutely bonkers.
The daemon reforge buffs with the blood hosts was just so insane when I did the campaign. Just a tide of immortal blood hosts sweeping the land. Never mattered if they lost a battle. They'd just all live and heal up afterwards.
The thing im surprised you didnt mention is how with that top right one, you have an 80% chance (as a visible bonus, may be higher if there is a minimum behind the scenes chance) to get any daemons back at 100% HP. which applies to the blood hosts, so you can just make them immortal that way as well. It also means you can always mindless autoresolve, lose, regen most of the army and auto resolve until you win or get really unlucky.
I think the lord being level 17 despite only winning 7 battles is probably the result of recruitment buildings or faction-wide buffs increasing the starting rank of the lord.
I completed my legendary araabal campaign in like 45 minutes with one province lol. Just auto resolved everything with a stack of chosen and ror before the ai could get to tier 3. The powercreep is hilarious.
Skulltaker I enjoyed cuz you have so much to do, plus pressure on different sides, Arbaal bored the hell out of me tbh. You get 1 (or 2, if you confed the minor khorne faction) provinces and after that you never think about your empire or any other army again. Just teleport to a lord, kill it, rinse and repeat the next turn. Tech and Bloodthrone abilities hardly matter and you are under about the same pressure as Changeling.
For reference on how broken this is, I had never gotten a long campaign victory on Legendary before today. Didn't bother with the lord farming and got the top left trait where I get free blood hosts anytime any army kills a lord on about turn 50. Won the campaign on turn 56, and by turn 60 I have 110 armies
It makes me so angry that instead of play testing any of their DLC’s (because all 3 factions are OP in some reason), they outsource the play testing to RUclipsrs in early access who don’t play test, they play to enjoy the game and make a video.
I mean... I don't understand people criticising this... I had so much fun playing this and doing some cheesy stuff. You really feel like an unstoppable wave and this is a super cool power trip. I can understand that you could want the game to resist a bit more but, I don't think it's the role of khorne's faction. It's the chaos power of murder and blood and hearing blooddemons gutturals screams while seeing enemy unit health melt in seconds is incredible. I really like the dlc overhaul, the only thing I don't really like is the fact that ogre kingdom have still a lot of problems in real time battle that make you lose a lot for nothing.
I quickly realized that the “spawn bloodhost after defeating lord” was not just for Skulltaker as I thought it be. No every bloodhost killing a village can spawn a bloodhost by winning and one more from paying skulls. So every spawnable army can spawn 2 more armies….
I think legend has reached his final evolution stage, next week he will do an undefeated tyrion campaign and then have tyrion lead the high elves to space domination about 40k years too early
i actually appreciate it. This is Lore friendly. Khorne is supposed to just multiply with bloodshed; the more you fight him, the more he fights. its a near endless cycle. Korne loves orks for example...i hope they dont change anything.

Now his little lord selection scene makes sense !
he just sits in front of a settlement and raids them time after time kills a lord and leaves :D
only at the intro right now, i can already tell this is gonna be good one :3
Skulltaker really saw Skarbrand being super strong and went "Hold my beer" lmao
Legend sounding as giddy as a kid that found the cookie jar is really something else XD. Cheese for the Cheese lord !
If doing the defeat stacking on an enemy legendary lord to make a super essence farm it would be more worth the time and effort to do it on a lord like Vlad, Morghur, or Tamurkhan that come back in 1-2 turns after dying to drastically speed up the payoff.
That Lord farming cheese should go incredibly well with Vlad as he returns every single turn instead of every 5 :x
CA gave Legend a Christmas gift.
This looks like a miserable, tedious experience. Always happy to see Legend finding a broken exploit in 5 minutes of play lol
Someone call the spiffing Brit.
That victory exploit needs to be done either on Vlad, or any other LL that defeated Vlad. Gotta get that Essence farming economy as fast as possible.
This is peak Khorneconomics!
It was a nice change from the normal
a campaign that rewards berserk aggression and systems mastery? I wonder why you love it :D
This is the Cheesanthemum. There are a thousand layers to this cheese.
Seems like Skulltaker's gonna be an endgame crisis under the AI
"Morty...Morty... Listen to me Morty, it's all about the Lord farm, Morty!"
Christmas came early for Legend.
gotta love the chesse you can get in the current version of khorne making tens of thousands every battle summoning free powerful bloodhosts everywhere (a combination of techs, Arbaal's "blessings of khorn" mechanic, and confederated skarbrand for +3 units to new bloodhosts (all characters) ) and I don't even have Skulltaker yet which sounds like he's completely busted
This is not the khorne way. This is the way of the great horned rat.
I love Skulltaker, he's so OP and fun! :)
Everyone's playing Total War while Skulltaker out here playing Balatro
This campaign was wild. I had conquered all of Lustria by turn 20, then teleported over to Skarbrand, and conquered most of Warhammer Africa by turn 40. It was entertaining for a bit, but it's probably not a campaign I'll come back to because I won so early and so easily. I got maybe 8 hours of content from it, which is enough for it to have been worth it, but I am saddened by the lack of replayability.
It usually takes me ~120 turns to win a long campaign victory on legendary. With Skulltaker it took me 60. Super fun campaign!
He is broken as hell but fun. A bit tedious later on when you sit with 100+ immortal bloodhosts to manage.
“Skulls for the Oversight Throne!”
Legend seems to be having fun with the new DLC, love it!
This is one of the best most fun DLCs and campaigns I've played, hopefully none of it changes
The skull cloak buff that fully replenishes his army is BUSTED
-Khorne domination
-Slaneesh winning the great game
yeah, checks out.
I think the lord being level 17 despite only winning 7 battles is probably the result of recruitment buildings or faction-wide buffs increasing the starting rank of the lord.
Skarbrand campaign: Summon some demons, delete provinces, keep on trucking
Skulltaker campaign: Man those rats seem kinda red don't they
I completed my legendary araabal campaign in like 45 minutes with one province lol.
This is beautiful! Khorne is still the strongest faction in WH3
the most fun campaign i ever played
For reference on how broken this is, I had never gotten a long campaign victory on Legendary before today. Didn't bother with the lord farming and got the top left trait where I get free blood hosts anytime any army kills a lord on about turn 50. Won the campaign on turn 56, and by turn 60 I have 110 armies
Little cheeses and big cheeses. Legend is eating goooooood
lore accurate skulltaker
It makes me so angry that instead of play testing any of their DLC’s (because all 3 factions are OP in some reason), they outsource the play testing to RUclipsrs in early access who don’t play test, they play to enjoy the game and make a video.
Us customers, we are the real playtesters lmao. Big plus for CA, because instead of paying for playtesters, we pay them for playtesting.
I heard "Lord of skulls", a demonic machine from 40k, being called tractor of Khorne. So this guy here is steamroller of Khorne.
This is what happens when the vortex isn't sucking up magic, never-ending daemons.
Aaaaaaaand it's nerfed. Thx for the info😊
I got 20 turns in before I realised it was gg and put skulltaker down. Khorne showing his dominance as he should.
Arbaal gets pretty insane as well. Blood hosts everywhere, and he can easily hit the defeat trait limit in record time.
You can become early game crisis with this lord lol.
i actually appreciate it. This is Lore friendly. Khorne is supposed to just multiply with bloodshed; the more you fight him, the more he fights. its a near endless cycle. Korne loves orks for example...i hope they dont change anything.
Yeah imagine these lord farm areas are pulled into Khorne’s realm and forced to fight eternally against his armies.
