  • Join me to enjoy the sights and sounds of Swanage in Dorset on Wednesday 24th January 2024. Minimal commentary from myself, but be aware at 4 min.50 seconds in, the sound is loud to begin, (sorry headphone wearers). The walkabout begins under the Mowlem Theatre, along the High Street to the Station, crossing over by the Conservative club, and walking back through the Town, up to just passed the Library, crossing over, and walking down to the front before going behind the shops, overlooking Swanage bay area again, I hope those of you who know Swanage, or who have lived, or holidayed here will enjoy seeing Swanage, as I do every time I return here. I parked in the Broad Road car park and big up to the Swanage Town Council for reducing the winter car park tariff to just £1.00 (yes, just one Pound) for up to a 24 Hour stay. Enjoy!

Love this place. Used to camp in the 80's with my parents at Harman's Cross (with the great little supply shop across the road) and visit Swanage, and all the other places (Worth Matravers, Lulworth, Kimmeridge, Dancing ledge, Corfe Castle and the lovely Studland beach). Came over to Purbeck via the chain ferry. The place was one big adventure for a young un. The camp site at Harmons Cross is long gone now. Back then in the 80's we could go and watch the Chieftain tanks night shooting at the ranges. Great memories.

Hi, Many thanks for your comment, I'm glad it brought some nice memories back for you. Here is another on I did last year which includes the drive to Swanage, and returning using the chain link Ferry. ruclips.net/video/zcpbMq24WUA/видео.html

@@davestrange5786 Thanks. Just watched it. Makes me remember looking out of the car window in the 80's seeing the chain lying along the last part of road to the ferry moving as it came in to dock. Been on holidays all over the place, but Purbeck was by far my favourite. The old train track from Corfe to Harmans cross wasn't there when we 1st went (you could see the trackless base by the bridge at Harman's Cross). Years later we stayed again at another camp site , and a railway had be relayed on the old foundations and we took the steam train from Corfe to Swanage. Was magical. There was a pub up high from Harman's Cross which looked down on the Corfe valley. The view of the castle was breathtaking.
