    Your explanations about gear and performers/stars are delivered so calmly and in such a relaxing manner. I have learned about musicians I've never heard of, about aspects of playing styles these guys had and their histories and their gear etc. I can honestly say I enjoy each one your broadcasts, it's become one of my highlights in this strange world we seem to be living in at the moment. Look forward to the next installment. Many thanks👍👍

    This pedal and the SP compressor are my go to comp pedals. Rte 66 is on my main board. Building in a noise gate was a genius idea.

    This is one of my favorite pedals ever. It is perfectly tuned for single coils, especially. No matter what amp I plug into, this pedal always makes sure I have the right tone, gain, and feel that I'm used to and want. The Drive side of the pedal with the scooped voice sounds so much like a cranked blackface amp. Not many pedals can do that. Such a great piece of gear, and an always on pedal for me. The gate is such a fantastic touch also. It really is the perfect Fender guitar into Fender Amp pedal.

    This is one heck of a unit! Great design, smart! And the noise gate addition, helps a lot.
    Really glad I got this unit. And the send loop after the compressor allows for Tremelo before overdrive. I appreciate the solid reliable information. Thanks!

    I've had the comp 66 for years. It's my favorite compressor ever. The gate is nearly perfect and makes this almost an always-on pedal for me.

    One of the oft-overlooked benefits of compressors is for people who have to sing at the same time as they play. They might be the principle singer or simply playing rhythm as they sing backup or harmonies. It can be difficult to sing AND keep track of how hard you're strumming at the same time. That can lead to guitarists overshadowing the singer or themselves by inadvertently strumming too hard. Compressors allow the player to simply wail away and not have to worry about drowning any voices out. I suppose that can seem lazy to some folks, but it can provide for a smoother band sound, and maybe even having the singer ask for a little more monitor a little less often.

    LOL! When you flipped that noise gate ... they both sounded the same! Buddy Holly and THE EAR CRICKETS ...

    I always wanted one of the original Route 66s back in the 90s when I’d see that awesome shield-shaped thing in the musicians friend catalogues. If I’m used to a dynacomp, anybody know if I’d like the copressor on this thing if I decided to use this as my whole micro-pedalboard?

    Compression really fills out single coils, I don't like them on humbuckers.

      I agree!

      @@TruetoneFX They don't do as much, of course, as for a single coil. But they help to tighten up a humbucking PUP and keep it more controlled, in my opinion. Of course, it depends upon the need. I use one on my ES-355 when I'm faking at being a jazz player! Compressors are wonderful little boxes!

    Is the drive side of the Route 66 the same as the one on the left side of your Jekyll & Hyde?

    • @TruetoneFX
      @TruetoneFX  4 года назад +3

      No. The drive side on the RT66 is the Drivetrain, the drive on the J&H is the Open Road

      I love these drive circuits, but also loved the old Route 808 circuit. I kicked myself when I got the V3 J&H and R66 and sold my V2 ones, including a Double Trouble.
      I quickly realized the Route 808 circuit was not the same as the V3 and after trying a few other TS style substitutes, I ran out and found a used Route 808.
      I use the Overdrive circuits of the V3 series, but sometimes you just want a basic Tube Screamer and the V2 Route 808 circuit is my go to for that sound.
