Well to be fair people arent always good to animals. What if she had been taken by someone who couldve abused her or even killed her? You can bet your ass I'd be calling the damn cops.

It's still CRAZY that Burnie's buddies did and got away with this, especially with Reveille VI following them so easily before they tied her up at Lake Travis.

I remember while i was in job training for the navy down in florida, we had a similar story. A bunch of marines somehow got a squirrel drunk and shaved a lieutenants bars (Captain for other branches) into its back. Now every time you see it, you salute it like it's an officer.
I love how when both Burnie and Jack said "The Corps," it sounded very serious and epic.

Reveille VI (September 3, 1993 - October 18, 2003) Reveille VI was a registered Rough Collie born in Woodward, Oklahoma and took over as Texas A&M's mascot from Reveille V during halftime of the football game against the University of Louisville on November 13, 1993. Upon induction into the Aggie family, she quickly assumed the roles and duties of her predecessor and began attending university functions including football games.

Our mascot is a Cougar, up to 1978 we had a live cougar on campus.

I know this video is older, but here’s why Reveille is the highest ranking member: in the military, working animals are traditionally one rank higher than their handler, even though it’s not officially recognized by the individual branches. There’s no clear reason, but some people believe it’s so harsher punishments could be inflicted on the handler for abusing the animal, others think it’s because some of the more seasoned dogs had just as much to teach new handlers as the human instructors. Either way, the military tradition is for the animal to be a rank higher.
Fun Fact: Reveille is a Rough Collie, not a Border Collie.

Shout out to Reveille. I’m a student at an A&M satellite campus that houses majors not offered at the main campus. When I was a freshman, Reveille was visiting our campus and happened to visit one of my classes before we had our midterm exam. All of a sudden, she got excited over something and she barked. She used to be a show dog, so her previous owners had her vocal chords clipped so it didn’t sound like a bark. Almost immediately the class is dismissed. I ended getting a 98 on that test next class period.
I love Burnie's college stories. Still waiting for an RTAA of the friends of his who tried to steal a million dollars from a drug dealers house.
My favourite thing about this story is that now the Simpsons episode where homer steals Springfield a&m's pig makes way more sense.
The subtle funniest part of this is burnie being shocked that Gavin, a British man, didnt know who bevo was, a University of Texas American Football mascot.

The corps is actual rotc! cadets can choose to go into the military or not but the corps is one of the most respected rotc divisions in the country

People stole Baylor’s Bear.
I go to school in a town with two universities, so naturally there's a rivalry. We have a week leading up to the football game where we play each other that students from each side go & prank/terrorize the other school. The university I don't attend has a tiger as a mascot, and has a statue of a tiger on their campus. It's tiny and emaciated looking as Hell and apparently? the tail can just come off? so students from my university once stole the tail & were chased back to campus by students who were guarding the statue.

Dec. 26, 1993: Reveille VI was kidnapped from her handler's family home in Dallas. She was four months old.
Both Reveille V and VI were staying with Mascot Corporal John Lively's family's home in Dallas ahead of the New Year's Day Cotton Bowl game against Notre Dame. Reveille VI was let outside in the fenced backyard early in the morning, according to The Eagle. When a family member went to let her back in the house, she was gone.
Lively and other E-2 cadets spent the next few days searching for Reveille before notifying A&M officials on Dec. 29. The alleged kidnappers, who called themselves the "Rustlers," contacted the Austin-American Statesman and demanded a ransom: "A&M had to publicly announce that Reveille had been stolen and state that UT was superior to A&M," according to The Eagle.

Six weeks later, on October 18, 2003, Reveille VI was euthanized. The decision was made by Hall and other Texas A&M veterinarians because of her deteriorating health. Funeral services were held Sunday, November 2, 2003, at Kyle Field. Speakers at her funeral were former mascot corporals Mark Boynton, Class of 1997, and Jeff Bailey, Class of 2000. Following the funeral service, Reveille VI was buried among earlier Reveilles at the north entrance to Kyle Field.[13]

yeah, that's because when the first Revielle was around, the corps members were not supposed to have dogs, so they tried to hide her, but she ended up barking during the bugle call, earning her the name.
