Oh yes, this particular fight between Lee Bang Ji and Moo Hyul was the most intense and heartbreaking. They talked about this kind of situation earlier and anticipated such a fight.
Till the end I couldn't choose. They both were my favs in this drama. Both made it to the list of my favourite kdrama characters of all time. YT just reminded me of this drama, wow memories...
sword fighting at its best - fast and fierce and evocative. Outstanding! And the timing arrival of their loved ones just heightened the whole heartbreaking scene. Bravo to all the actors in this scene.

Moo Hyul becomes stronger when he is trying to protect someone. Bang Ji acquired skills from his Chinese master, chaek sa gwan brothers speed, Kil Tae Mi when he said I can see your every move, Chaek Sa Gwan herself when he learnt of the curver swordsmanship skill employed by her. He also learnt from Moo Hyul in their conversation when he told him he gets stronger when he is trying to protect someone.

If lee bang ji's sister and moohyul's mother did not come on a rescue, in that last scene before their arrival, lee bang ji would have had died if they were second late. viewers should understand what the writer is trying you to understand and see. At first episodes before going to china, muhyul will never win against the elite swordman like gil tae mi, gil sun mi, lee bang ji and of course the girl cheok sa gwang. However, when he went to china and his boss (Bang Won) told him if lee bang ji is the best swordman in that current country, he wants Muhyul to be the best swordman in the new country he is going to build. Muhyul assured him that once they return, he will be the best swordman and his trainer assured him that one too. When bang won returned to pick up muhyul after a few years, muhyul told him that he executed his command. His trainer just found out the new movement of cheoksa gwang that time because he saw that movement during lee bang ji practice time... and he added what he saw to his training book which is the missing piece of his training book and that missing piece is super important. That is the missing piece he tried to remember when he served the cheok's family. Have he had that missing piece long before, gil tae, gil sun mi will be a much deadlier swordmen prior to their passing. Having said this, he taught this missing piece to his most favorite person, whcih is mo hyul. he was the most talented swordman trainer and he loved muhyul like his own son... and he trained muhyul with that new movement or that missing piece of his training book. Muhyul is a very fast learner swordman and strong. When he returned to his country, the new muhyul is the BEST SWORDMAN because of the x10 extra strength, his extra speed and now he can compete cheok sa gwang. Muhyul cannot show his full potential not unless he is protecting someone. If he just practice fighting against lee bang ji or practicing with gil tae, he would never win because he is not protecting someone. BUT, he is a different monster when he is determined to protect someone, this makes him the deadliest out of all the swordmen. and that happened during the fightscenes in that mansion. Out of all his fightscenes, he only got wounded slightly and it happened only once, and that only happened during his fight with lee bang ji. Out of all the swordmrn, he is the most successful in executing a mission. He was determined to protect his boss bang won, he executed that multiple times. Protected lee bang ji's sister also. Bang won's father (The general) he protected him during the mansion fight. He was determined to protect lee bang ji during his fight scene with cheok sa gwang, he again executed that. Whoever he guards is 100% protected. Lee bang ji failed to protect the person he tried to protect. Gil sun mi is same. Chok gwang is the same. The bottomline of a swordman is to protect whoever they try to protect, that is what the writer wants the viewers to understand. A talent is useless if you fail to execute your mission of protecting whoever you guard.

Chowk sa gwang is Legendary fight...
All the three characters has their own pros and cons..
Myuhul is stronger physically.. But incomparable to Bang ji and Chowk sa gwang.. While Bangji has speed and master Swordsmanship But, physically weaker to Myuhul.... While Chowk sa gwang has the legendary swordsmanship.. She is a girl and weak physically to them....
So, only Luck can determine who would win if they all fight one on one..
But, as per my views on the series I would rank

2) Bang ji

I mean bang ji was gonna kill moo hyul if the women didn't show up. His theme song was playing and bang ji was cut first too. That's how the sequence was in the show, the person who cuts first dies. Bang ji was also more skilled and faster and a better swordsman, he would've killed moo hyul.

I don’t remember seeing this fight scene in the show. I must have fallen asleep during my binge watching. But love the fight scenes. They are the best.

In Korean history Lee Bang Won, later called King Taejong, was one of the best rulers during that era. His reign was from 1400 to1418 including that of his son Lee Do who was shown talking to Boon Yi at the end of the drama. That's 18 years while his brother Lee Bang Gwa ruled for two years before Bang Won succeeded him as King.
yea, although history records him as a brutal king who killed so many people including his brothers to become the king, him killing people made the country a lot better, and easier for Sejong the Great to rule the country.
Sure there has been some purges within Taejong's era but he mainly killed the head and let others live. Also, let's not forget that Yi Seoung Gye and Jung do jeon killed a lot more compared to him. In this drama and actual history there are no good or bad. They are all people with firm belief and goal. To reach it they will do anything including betraying and killing innocent people.
Well, most of the people he killed during his reign were the queen's family. It was not about to let others live nor the chastisements but only for the strengthening his own scepter. Of course, he was a powerful king, and he certainly has the credit of stabilizing the state of the country based on that powerful scepter, but it is unreasonable to say that his purge was for the people. It was purely for himself. What was important to him was not the people, but the country he owned.

I’m rewatching the Six Flying Dragons again and have forgotten much of it (not the actual story though) and this sword fight is quite sad. Currently I am watching ep 31 and misremember why our two swordy fighters are fighting each other. Always sad when friends and brothers fight.
If his mother didn't step in lee bang gi could have kill him with that strike that's his best strike moo hyul can't beat him he only has more strength than him but lee bang ji is more skillful

In my opinion.. Lee bang ji is Way more skilled than moohyul.. He was just soft here due to the fact that he didn't want to kill moohyul... But when you see the later end of the fight... You'll see that he was about to handle him properly

힘에서는 무휼이 확실히 앞서지만 속도에서는 방지가 확실히 앞서기 때문에 방지가 굳이 칼을 맞댈려고 하지 않고 계속 피하다가 공격했음 승부가 그리 오래 걸리진 않을거 같은데..
무휼이 방지보다 속도는 다소 늦어도 이방지 검격에 반응, 방어할만한 정도는 되니 방지라도 빈틈을 찾기가 힘들겁니다. 피하면서 틈을 찾기보단 차라리 속검으로 계속 공격하면서 빈틈을 만들어내는게 낫겠죠.
