- It's been 10 years since China rolled out its ambitious Belt and Road infrastructure and investment project, stretching across the globe. It paved the way for the expansion of Beijing's worldwide reach, while also offering a golden opportunity for lower-income countries. Today, the BRI spans three continents. It involves 147 countries -- two-thirds of the world's population -- and 40% of global GDP.

The BRI has distinguished China from traditional major powers. The BRI is a rejection of zero-sum confrontation, it is not even a "national strategy" by the traditional definition, nor a policy to serve the interests of only one country.
"In the past, many people asked what China's rise will bring to this world, and the BRI is an answer from China. The reason why more and more countries have become interested and participated in the initiative, despite some noises and stigmatizations from some Western politicians and media, is simple: It brings benefits to everyone.

CMA is blind to the achievement of the last ten years of BRI initiatives. Hundreds of bridges, schools, stadiums, ports and government building were constructed during this ten years especially in Africa. Not to mention thousands of miles of rail track laid across Asian continennt and Africa. Compare to zero infrsyructure contribution from western nations in this ten years, BRI is a resounding success.

The average interest rate on Western loans is 5%, compared to 2.7% Chinese lenders.

The rest of the debt is to bond markets. They hold the majority of the debt since 2015 .

US and the west turns out victorious in the BRI. It's propaganda campaign frustrates China's development and links to Central Asia, Southeast Asia to the Mideast. Debt trap was a powerful fear instilled on the participating countries. Sadly these countries will not benefit from the infrastructural development that the west refused or unable to do. Laos, Indonesia and Sri Lanka have reaped the benefits, and probably Vietnam will be next. Mahathir ironically did the US a great favour by frustrating the booming Forest City project and the futuristic Melaka Port project, which could directly affect US interest in the US-friendly Singapore and its port and naval base which US military and naval vessels visit regularly.

MOFA Taiwan denounces George Yeo’s controversial remarks
Yeo’s recent recommendations for Taiwan to consider joining a “commonwealth” with China and pursuing a “One China” path have drawn significant condemnation from Taiwan.
The ministry asserted that Yeo’s comments were “completely inconsistent with the facts, clearly biased, and at odds with the understanding of most democratic countries in the region.”
Furthermore, they contended that Yeo’s personal opinions not only fail to contribute to regional peace and stable development but also harm the positive development of Taiwan-U.S.
Taiwan is part of China. Besides, George Yeo can safely ignore US puppet state of Taiwan.

It will be a waste of time, man proposes, drama disposes.
you are sick just open your eyes and see the great achievements during last decade... see 1000s of roads, railway, ports, airports, hospital, schools built. more than 140 nations come to China to join the BRI dialoge last few days.
It will not be completely successful because it's too much too soon and too late... the following will affect the objective
(1) climate change,
(2) there are too many border crossings involving different countries tariffs,
(3) those countries which are further their goods will costs more for transportation than those nearer/nearest depending on the made of the goods,
(4) there are inconsistent datelines in different countries/continents for the complete circuit of the BRI,
(5) there are 5 hotspots in the World for WW3 to erupt spread across the region and spill over.
Lastly by the time if it's successfully completed there will be plenty of hiccups caused from the above (1)>(4) and XJP 🇨🇳 wouldn't live to see the day to realize that vision.
Do nothing, nothing will go wrong...is it the way...

- China was never transparent about its BRI loans.
- third highest, at 10%, among Sri Lanka's $51 billion foreign debts.
- Chinese annual interest is at 3.3%, *5 times* higher than Japanese loans.
- Among all loans, Chinese loans must be *paid first.*
- Chinese loans are not money, they are *construction debt.*
- The loans must have *collateral* such as mines, seaports, etc.
- Most BRI projects China developed are useless but may be useful for *the Chinese military.*
- Chinese workers, mostly *men unable to marry* in China, are transported to Sri Lanka for BRI projects.
- China took the Hambantota seaport for *99 years* amid Sri Lanka's unable to pay.
- unable to pay, Sri Lanka asked lenders for renegotiation. All responded, *except China.*
- When Sri Lanka tried to import necessities, China *blocked* it because of unpaid debts.
BRI is doing very well. Many are just jealous.
