You talk at just the right speed imo! Your diction in your videos is actually one of the best I've seen, I can't help but marvel how you manage to never "um" or falter mid sentence. Something I really need to work on in my videos! I guess it's a confidence thing?
Because I talk fast, I've always worked on making sure I enunciate and avoid the "um's" as my attempt to make it easier for other people to understand me. While I can't talk slower, I was able to work on those points :D
I am italian, English is my second language and I absolutely Love the way you talk, I understand you perfectly and really you come across as having lots of enthusiasm and energy, so pleasant to listen to! I get bored when people talk slowly. Besides, since you teach, you can teach us more things this way, each video is so full of helpful information! People should be grateful and not complain or criticize. Thank you Lisa, this painting is wonderful, as always :)
I really love all your work! I've started to draw again a few month ago (graphite and color pencils) after about 30 years since I draw as a young girl. You are a inspiration source and I have learned so much from your videos! About talking to fast... In the beginning I had a hard time to hear what you say. I'm from Sweden so English are not my usual language. Now I have no problems to hear what you say! Thanks for all inspiration and education videos!
OMG...you're so talented and fun to watch, I'm thankful for tutorials that we can have via your generosity...talk all you want and as fast as you want, as long I understand everything it doesn't bother me a bit...THANK YOU !!!
I have so grown used to your quickness of speech, I really never notice it anymore. I love all of your unique qualities, videos, and expertise in all mediums- you help and inspire me more than you'll ever know. Ignore the rest and thank you for all your knowledge and support and all you do! Please just continue to keep the faith (& the beautiful art), :) coming as I look forward to hearing you as soon as you've posted!
Beautiful painting as usual! I'm craving grapes now... On another note, I really enjoy your commentary, which always contains valuable information yet is never dull or hesitant. It's amazing how there's never any "uh"s or awkward pauses. Also, as someone who talks way faster than the average person and gets far too many complaints from everyone about it, can I just say how much I related to your response to the talking speed comments? Honestly, don't worry about your talking speed. I've learned so much and been exposed to so many new ways of creating art through your videos, and I've never felt bored. You're an amazing teacher, person, and artist, and I want to say 'thank you!'
Thanks! You know what is funny, people would be SO offended if we told them to speak faster. I'm not sure why it's appropriate to tell us to speak slower!
I don't use acrylics, but I do use graphite and colored pencils. Your videos about those mediums have been so helpful! :) Thank you for your great tutorials!
Awww beautiful 😭 beautiful as always!!!. I started with school pencils, crayons, and then acrylic. I was fascinated and took alternative classes at the High School, and got bored. But I never did a job as beautiful as that! My big problem is, I don't know how to blend well the colors and do a realistic artwork!😖😭
Lisa, three years ago you were fantastic, but you never stop improving. This painting is so great. I want to reach in and grab a few grapes. They look so real and tasty. Great work Lisa.
I'd love a video on mixing colors as well (if you don't already have one) since that is a thing i struggle with the most, and it keeps me from painting and drawing as much as I'd like.
You're overthinking it! The only way you will learn is to practice, fail, mix ugly things, try again, fail more, try again, fail less...rinse and repeat! There is no video ever that will teach you what you will learn from trial and error when it comes to mixing colors. Just don't be afraid to fail. It's a very important part of the learning process!
Great video Lisa! That mixing white really made those grapes look so realistic. Wonderful job!😆 As for how fast or slow you speak, I have no issues with it. They just need to speed up their ears. 😃 Keep being you!
Beautiful painting! Always love how you paint grapes. It's like I can reach out and grab a snack, haha. I never thought you talked too fast, or at least, it never bothered me. People can always slow the video down in settings if it annoys them anyway xP
How do you decide which medium to use? Do you think about the pros and cons for each picture and chose the medium based on that or do you just pick which ever one you feel like using? I ask because your pictures look similar even if they are made with different mediums. For me I use different tools for different looks.
Mostly I just rotate from one medium to another so I don't get bored with any single medium. Besides that, I do often consider which medium would work best for whatever effects I need within a design. For example, I find space scenes to be easiest with acrylic and an airbrush. It can be done with other mediums but it is MUCH easier with acrylics. Portraits I find easiest with oil paint because of the slow dry time.
Wow... Your painting is sooooo wonderfully beautiful! I'd so enjoy seeing more of this kind of painting from you and maybe a series of them and also on large canvases, kind of like you do your with animal paintings. Your grape and flower videos are always the best in my lowly opinion I see on RUclips. What a joy! Can you tell I like them? Hahaha! Thank you so very much for sharing it with us. About the talking speed...uh...you talk fast? Where was I? Oh...that's right...enjoying your videos. Lol. You know anytime I have ever referred to anyone as being a "fast talker," I am not usually referring to the speed at which one speaks. It is an expression I use for con artists. It's a term used in the Northwest. However, it is quite hilarious considering most of us from out in the Northwest speak quite fast, most people telling us to slow down. Lol.
Also, sometimes, if people don't speak faster to me in an interesting conversation, I tend to get a little frustrated feeling like, "Get there faster" since I have usually jumped ahead in our conversation, knowing what they are going to say next, which was especially funny since I was raised by people with a southern drawl. Lol. My sons have often become frustrated at me because, sometimes I ask a question about something they are getting to a paragraph or two later if I'd just let them get to it in their own time. Hahaha! So inadvertently, I have taught my oldest son to speak quite fast. Lol! So this speed at which you speak might in all actuality just be your mother's fault...I'm just sayin'! Just kiddin'...maybe. Hahaha!
Hi Lisa, I am starting to learn more about using color with polychromos and prismacolor colored pencils and I have a question, I know that when you want to discover the warmth or coolness of a color using paint adding white will show the direction of the color more toward warm or cool, but is there a way to determine this when using colored pencils? For example trying to find a cool orange, if such a color exists. Some are easy to determine ie: reds or greens even to some degree purples. I am however, unable to clearly tell with yellows, orange and even some blues. Any advise? Thanks, Andy S.
actually I like the way you speak because I never get bored or tired listening to you. I will get tired of people who talk really slow and as specially when they never seem to come to there point..... so if I knew you in person I would definitely buy you a cob of coffee! lol. its just my way to say that you're speaking is fine by me. and even that whit my English being not that good.... and you made a great great painting! thank you! :D
PS.. you wouldn't guess how many times I play your youtube vids and colored pencil podcasts as background while I'm creating my art...& I've thought. hmmm, what would Lisa do or say right now?? lol All the best!
Love your work and I like the way you talk! You come across upbeat and at peace with yourself. l also like your comment about the coffee! Tee hee hee! Love you girl! Keep being you!
I related SO much to the end. I'm a Chipotle obsessive, and I don't understand all the comments saying you talk fast, because I talk that fast too. I actually speed up your videos sometimes. XD
Yes, you talk fast, but at the same time it is easy to understand you. I mean, I am Spanish, so I can speak English but I am not a native speaker and I can understand about 85-90% of what you say in your videos and the rest it is easy to get by the context or just by listening again that part. The first time I watched one of your videos I was surprised I could understand it, but then I realized you speak fast but you also articulate really well, so that's why the speed was not an issue (at least for me). I hope you keep on doing your amazing videos! They are really helpful and funny ^_^
I actually like the speed you are speaking :D Slower tempo is sometimes harder to listen in these tutorial videos, because if the topic is already something I familiar with, my thoughts start to wander around. But to someone that is not so good with english and the art terminology it might be difficult to follow. Anyhow, just speak the way you want! We love you either way!
haha..its not lets draw/paint together, you can always go back and watch it more than once to understand it.. for me who is not an artist, i just like to see the magic happened and the speed is perfect for me. keep it up. love your videos
Hi Lisa, I LOVE your painting and video again! Also I like watching your videos till very end :D I have to say that even if some people complain that you talk too fast, I am not English and I am still learning - my English is not the best and sometimes I do have a problem with some people to understand them. Your English is very good though and I do not have any problem to understand you ( thanks God otherwise I couldn't watch your tutorials :D lol) and I don't think that you speak so fast so don't worry :D I can't wait for your next video xxx
I am convinced that you purposely choose shirts that match the paintings you're talking about... in almost EVERY video, lol! :-P Great painting, and nice shirt!
I honestly don't. It's sort of like when you and a friend show up wearing the same thing and glare at each other. That is totally the relationship I have with my paintings lol.
why do you Always use a reference foto? is that just a part of 'Fine art' or personal preference. Also, do you Ever Paint from memory or imagenation? i Wonder what you could come up with. btw realy Love your work!
People who paint photorealism need either a reference photo or a model. That's just how this style is done. No one's memory is good enough to paint like this from memory :) I design my work quite often from imagination, but then I find reference photos of the subjects I want in that design.
When I started to watch your videos it was sometimes a little bit difficult for me to understand you, because you talked so fast and my english is not that good, but after few weeks it seemed completely normal and I could understand you perfectly ;) Also I thought you are very energetic person, not coffee-addicted one xD. By the way, because of your fast-talking quality you are SO much exciting to watch. Slow-talkers can be really boring, I have problem to follow them because they often appear to be uninterested in whatever they have to say ;) Ofc. it is not always the case. Greetings from Poland ;)
Hi Lisa! We just wanted to pop in here to let you know that this video was chosen for a feature on our website. Thanks for making the best DIY tutorials. Your feature automatically enters you in September's Craft Box give away which is valued over $175 and full of crafty supplies. Take care and congratulations. diycraftclub.com/blogs/art-tutorials/how-to-paint-grapes-roses-in-acrylic-with-lachri
yes you can combine those two. But you cannot use oil paint in you're airbrush and you cannot airbrush over your oil paint. but you can paint you're oils over you're airbrush paint. just like acrylics :D
It may be possible but I would not try it with my own gun that's for sure lol. It would be very hard to clean the gun well after. Another concern would be fat over lean issues. Your last layers should be "fat". The way you would need to thin down the paint would be with paint thinner (lean). Most of the airbrushing would likely be on your last layers so that would cause issues long term. Another thing I would worry about is the excess spray. With normal airbrushing, the paint dries pretty much instantly when in the air, it doesn't ruin anything it settles on. With oils, haveing oil floating around the air and landing on stuff would not be ideal. Besides that, because of the nature of oil paint, there would be no reason to airbrush. You have plenty of time to blend out soft backgrounds.
I catch crap for my speed of speech. I hear "slow down" a lot. I was probably the only kind in kindergarten in my school that knew the word enunciate due to being told "Slow down and enunciate" at 4 years old. I looked to my mom, she told me what it meant, and I learned a new word only to continue at the prior speed.
That is definitely not how it works for people who talk fast. It's not like asking someone to walk slower. When attempting to speak more slowly I start to fall over my words. My brain is always moving far too fast. You can't force your brain to slow down, so the end result of those attempts is a blubbering mess that no one understands lol.
Yes Lisa that looks much better after you went over it later. 😊
The grapes looks very real !!

Lachri Fine Art I agree with what you're saying, but it would be oh so lovely to watch the pros do it! 😛 See it as a huge compliment
This is really Beautiful!
Amaizing stunning piece!
Thank you :)
Fantastic...and I love the speed you talk at!!!
Hey Lisa, i don't think you are talking fast or are short, but i do think you are a amazing artist.

HAHA!! That is great!
I'm Scottish, we all speak madly fast, so you are totally perfect sounding to me! Loved the tutorial, the grapes look so juicy!
HAHA Maybe I should live in Scotland!
+Lachri Fine Art you would be very welcome!
As another Scot, I agree - your speed of talking is perfectly normal to us! (Also, you would indeed be very welcome!) Love the video/painting too!

It always sounds good! I need a burrito bowl!! lol

I love how fast you talked ahaha ❤️
how big is the canvas?
dear lisa
have you ever tried digital painting? what is reason you don´t paint digital? it is the same thing like on this painting :-)
Yes, I like digital art, but I enjoy working traditionally better :)
maybe you feel motivated one day and show us a digital painting :D would love to see it lisa^^ have a nice day and successful artworks
Can I buy some of your talent? I'll pay anything
HA!
Hahaha I just hate when my Starbucks disappears hahaha I talk super fast too and I'm short hahahaha
Days after recording that video and I'm still missing that starbucks haha!
+Lachri Fine Art haha I hear ya 😂😂
11:13 My comment :)
LOL Woops, yours got filtered for review, gotta let that one through :P
:) It's awesome!
Every time I work with acrylics they dry too fast.
Actually, I always thought you talked faster to make your videos shorter o.o
HAHA nope!
I like the speed, I normally speed up other videos because I find people talk too slow. This works beautifully for me. Thanks for all the videos.
i really like how fast you talk i always put RUclips videos on 1.5x speed cuz it drives me crazy if someone talks too slow XD
AmyGreen hahah me too
Actually, I'm putting 1,25 on Lachri's and 1,5 on everyone else, because it's too slow.
LOL!! I tell people who complain that the best I can do is enunciate well. That is something I have worked to make sure I'm always doing.
I think you talk perfect
Thanks!
Actually, I put your vids on 2x cuz u aren’t fast enough for me....🤣🤣🤣
Well you can talk slower just like I can choose to talk faster, you just choose not to, which is fine by me because i understand you just fine. lol
