- In what has become an annual feature, Prince Rama Varma brings a magnificent gift to the residents of Trivandrum (and nowadays, to all his admirers all over the world through youtube) each January, in the form of an "Informal Concert" where he brings to light several rare and beautiful compositions by a whole range of composers, from people like Annamacharya and Purandara Dasa who lived 600 years ago, to contemporary compositions, even from the 21st century!
Apart from the songs, Varma ji provides so many wonderful insights into the background of the compositions, the lives of the composers, the meanings of the lyrics and so on, which makes this the top favourite event in the calendar of many of Varma ji's fans.
This year, Varma ji was accompanied by Sri S.R.Vinu, Sri B.Harikumar, Adichanalloor Sri Anilkumar, Payyannur Sri Govindaprasad and Sri Ananthapadmanabhan.
Here, Varma ji peps things up after the mesmerizing rendition of Bajat Murali, with a super cute Kannada song in Raga Brindavani that he learned from a small child during his Perla days.

I have been friends with Varma ji for more than 20 years and he has always spoken very affectionately about some of the children at Perla. Kshama, Rashmi, Madhavi, Amritha and two ladies called Swarnakka and Chips Anupama. I have seen all of you so many times through the videos Varma ji has kindly showed me.

I have never seen anyone else give credit wherever it is due, the way Varma ji does! When the sound system is good, he publicly thanks the sound guys too! Whenever we have travelled together in a taxi, if the driver is good, Varma ji not only gives him a tip, but makes it a point to express his appreciation about the excellent driving in so many words too.
Value of appreciation is always will give extra energy.
