I actually think it was perfectively reasonable of Frostpaw to want to rest. She didn't give up "out of nowhere". Everyone has a breaking point. Being told by Riverstar WHILE ACTIVELY DYING that "hey guess what if you DO die, RiverClan will cease to exist so you go on back no you hear?" would break just about anyone. And she spends her chapters learning about RiverClan's history, which was important because she always had this idealistic view of her clan. Seeing her with Jayclaw was also super nice. And we get new lore added, which is that it seems like the Land of the Mist is like a purgatory type place, which is something I've always thought was needed in Warrior Cats. Frostpaw didn't give up though, and then becomes RiverClan's next full medicine cat, with the beautiful name Frostdawn. Her story was really well done in my opinion. Wanting to be something your whole life, then questioning that decision, which throws your entire life out of balance. Having to reckon with your past and family in order to move on....and choosing between living which is hard, and dying which is easy. Too easy. She's easily my favorite Medicine Cat now. Sorry Jayfeather.
Yes I agree! Her chapters at the end were some of my favorites. After everything she went through, dying probably felt easier. But she was reminded that she had friends and family who loved her for her, not what she could do for them, and that’s what brought her back.
Yeah. I actually didn't mind that arc at all. It made perfect sense, but I wish they would have... condensed it down a little bit? If only so it didn't feel like we were doing NOTHING in Sunbeam and Nightheart's chapters. Like, take her two back to back chapters from the end and give them to her when she's in the coma. Where we don't know what's going on or how much time has passed, and then when she wakes up, Icewing is back. Or something, idk. I have mixed feelings because I loved it and I was like 'honestly, this girly is so traumatized she deserves this moment for her.' but at the same time it rlly made the pacing for the other POVs weird and draggy.
"This dude tried to kill Sunbeam!" Allow me to introduce Brokenstar, Tigerstar 1, Leopardstar and Blackstar from the first series alone. All in all, StarClan doesn't seem to be picky about who gets power.
Frostdawn and Whistlebreeze are not the only cats who got their names changed. We also need to talk about Mistpaw and Graypaw, Frostdawn’s siblings. During Splashtail’s leadership, he gave Mistpaw and Graypaw the horrible names of Mistslime and Graysludge as punishment for Curlfeather’s treachery. Following the defeat of Splashtail, Mistslime and Graysludge sought refuge in SkyClan, and they changed their names back to Mistpaw and Graypaw. When Icestar became leader, she gave Mistpaw and Graypaw proper warrior names with Mistpaw becoming Mistpool, and Graypaw becoming Graysky.
For Frostpaw’s new name. I love it, because it matches and connects with the other protagonists names. Aka, NIGHTheart and SUNbeam. FrostDAWN gets to match as a kinda in between, which I love!
Omg I love that name and it fits so well. Before the name reveal I was guessing it was gonna be something like frostclaw or frostear, something like that
Icewing/star is gonna be great. Owlnose rebecoming deputy is bad imo, but can we talk about the medicine cat names, Whistlebreeze and Frostdawn? I love those
I feel like Shadow was the first book that really pressed Icewing as a possible leader. Throughout that book, she's pretty much exemplified as an above-average cat (literally doing apprentice duties even as the 'temp' leader and being the only cat, including Mothwing, to actually... ask Frostpaw how she's doing and apologize to her for all the pressure on her). She's characterized as someone who both doesn't like the ShC occupation but also values stability and rebuilding the clan, trying to mediate between the two when no other cat except for Frostpaw seemed concerned about it.
Whislebreeze is a good name and I love it. When I relized she was getting her med name I though, oh it's prob gonna be whislewind, and breeze is close enough
The entire time reading that book I was loving NightxSun, they're so adorable. The chapters from their perspective after Splashtail ran off with a kit are really sweet. Nightheart: Covered in so much dried blood that he can't fluff out his fur Also Nightheart: My wife is hurt I should go and check on her Sunbeam: Yeah you need to go see a medicine cat right now. Nightheart has matured a lot from the first book, and Sunbeam losing her mother and learning to come to terms with it, and Frostdawn has come so far too.
I know some people will hate on it but I love them having kits at the end too and Sunbeams relationship with finchlight and sparkpelt. Can we just appreciate all of that? And people saying them having kits is predictable, like you can be both working and have kids.
One funny thing I noticed but doubt was intentional. During the scene where Frostpaw woke up Tree tells her that he gathered "all the she-cats who loves you", which is then directly followed by a sentence where Frostpaw looks at first her Clanmates, then Sunbeam and finally Nightheart.
My biggest issue with the book book is that during Icestar's leadership ceremony THEY CALLED CROOKEDSTAR ACIENT!! "Frostdawn had heard of the ancient riverclan leader with a crooked jaw" [paraphrased]
Firestar has kind of become a legend for the younger cats, so i imagine frost feels that way about crooked. Someone who they’ve never known much about beyond what they did
There are literally cats around who knew him in life. Mosspelt’s really old but she knew him. And Stormfur, Brightheart, Thornclaw, Tawnypelt etc were all alive while he was leader
I was really hoping Frostpaw would go straight to leader because she learned how to lead through the arc, was actually coming up with battle strategies, and was taught about RiverClan from Riverstar himself. At one point she was talking to Squirrelstar and Tigerstar and she just seemed so equal with them and they really respected her word and took her advice so for a moment I thought it might happen. She is happy as a medicine cat though and I really love her name!
making owlnose deputy was so funny i love them for that. i was crying laughing at that scene but in all seriousness i love that guy. was it objectively bad? yes. did it make no sense? yes. was it the perfect choice? also yes i love when they make completely baffling out of pocket writing choices and i hope they never stop
Star was a catch-up book. It was the authors doing the work that they should've done earlier, at least in Wind. They realized they didn't do things like making splashtail have lackies, or being a legitimate threat, so the authors scramble this entire book to make all that happen. Splashtail wasn't a threat, I mean a medicine cat with a few days of warrior training killed him, he is probably the least threatening villain in a while.
Okay things- Splashtail was seen holed up in the den so I think it’s fair to assume that he was constantly with the kits since he’s seen being paranoid and such, I honestly think that Star is one of the best warriors books we’ve gotten in ages. I think frostpaw not wanting to go back was really good especially seeing how the cats were reacting treating her as an object not really worrying about frostpaw or caring about her wellbeing just wanting her to get up and chose a leader already, it makes sense especially since what woke her up was showing that cats did actually care about her not just what she could offer
Honestly i think Owlnose as deputy made sense. In _Star_ , you get to see that he has grown as a cat under Splashtail's leadership, becoming more assured of himself and finding his conviction. Hell, when the fighting first started, Owlnose lept straight at Splashtail, determined to take him down. That's a lot of growth from the cat who was floundering around when he was elected leader before and didn't know what to do. Edit: also about him attacking Sunbeam, _all_ the RiverClan cats at the beginning fought against the other clans because they were terrified that Splashtail was going to murder their kits. I don't really think that should be held against them.
Tbf I didn't feel like Frostdawn's giving up plot came "out of nowhere". She had a lot of trauma that kept stacking on, and that is a lot for anyone to deal with, much less a kid. I get wanting to give up after everything she went through. I am glad you haven't experienced that kind of helpless feeling. But, as someone who has, it felt natural to me that she would be tempted to stay with her father in StarClan. Just food for thought.
I think they kinda hinted to Ice WIng being a possible leader early on when Shadow Clan was helping but seen as taking over. I had thought when she was acting like a leader early on that she would either be killed or be leader.
I didn’t really attach myself to the idea of what the name could be so whistle breeze sounds fine to me. Makes me think of Reeds making a whistle on the breeze though.
I mean it also helping that Splashtail was fully crazy at that point .... and seeing Curlfeather nonstop so he was an easy kill - love that he was still believing that he was good and doing the right thing and going to StarClan too
I just listened to Sunnyfall's video from 8 months ago and omg I forgot about Lightleap being suspicious at the RiverClan border. That was so random lol. I guess they wanted to distract us from Splashtail Frostdawn is now officially my favorite. Icestar doesn't really seem like the very out of the blue choice that Frostpaw was allegedly supposed to make, but I kind of knew she was gonna be leader while I read Ivypool's Heart
I personally would have preferred Frostwing because it has a nice ring and connects her to Icewing and Mothwing who were the ones by her side. Plus wings are more than feathers, showing Frostpaw is more than Curlfeather and getting tricked by a feather
Why does Sunbeam have a moment where she thinks that the dark forest will help her mother come to terms with her own actions and learn from them? We saw in TBC that the dark forest literally makes you evil, and that you are trapped there forever!
sunbeam wasn't there to see that though, readers forget that the cats don't know everything we know. also probably just trying to comfort herself with lies
Icewing/Icestar is amazing. I have actually predicted her after I realised the first book had released. Going over the whole RiverClan alliances, Icewing or Harelight are the best choices, as they both went over to Tigerstar and fought on the ‘right’ side during The Broken Code, making them more valuable to the plot. Icestar even had experience of the dark forest, making her the better choice.
I've pretty much suspected Icestar would happen since book 3, especially since she gets along with Tigerheartstar and the other leaders and is (for the most part) respected by her clanmates. I was kinda hoping for Froststar, but when I saw Frostpaw was named Frostdawn in a Warriors Wiki post on Bluesky before reading the book I figured it would be Icestar.
I think Whistlesong would have been strange since her sister is Songleap. I get not wanting to give her a suffix that is just her sister's prefix since that'd raise so many questions especially when said sister is still alive. Did Kestrelflight wish that Songleap showed interest in medicine instead of Whistlebreeze? Did every cat compare Whistlebreeze to Songleap over in WindClan? Are they close even though Songleap is not mentioned significantly once this arc, even by her own sister? If that's not the case then why Songleap's prefix when she also has Flutterfoot as a brother? What of her new younger siblings Leafkit, Branchkit and Grasskit, one of which she almost gave her life to rescue? It'd be like if Jayfeather's full name was Jaylion. Sure it's easy to forget Whistlebreeze's siblings exist since she's the only relevant one to the plot but it wouldn't make Whistlesong any less strange imo.
Wait why I’m a watching this? I haven’t read this yet.. btw AKIRA YOU SLAY!! I want to do the challenges so badly so I’m waiting for a new challenge! I love your videos and I hope to share my art with you in future challenges!! 🤩
I got the book yesterday, and finished it 1 minute ago (nice bonus birthday gift), time to binge all the videos! Also, Owlnose straight up died and just got up just fine a couple chapters later.
I'm too glad that Star has awesome final! I think that this part can be perfect end to whole franchise of Warrior cats because we learn who is new leader of Riverclan and Frostpaw found her place in life.
I found it very funny that at some point in the book Frostdawn (such a pretty name btw, I agree) thinks about how she completely forgot RiverClan would need a new deputy too, because it almost felt like a nod to the fandom - I'd love to see the statistics on the discussion of the new leader vs if there was any on the deputy at all! That being said, I called Owlnose as deputy just about the moment that it was clear Icewing would be leader (which, to me, was when she reappeared just as Frostpaw woke). The book had made an effort beforehand not just to constantly bring him up, but also to emphasize that he had become more decisive and that he, in the end, cared more for having RiverClan run properly than for any power. I actually considered, before Icewing had returned, that he might have been back in the leadership contest. And I do think deputy fits quite well - this is, for all intents and purposes, like when Onestar made Harespring deputy after the Great Battle. On a completely different note, I actually found the whole scene of Frostpaw being woken by the singing very moving. It's probably cliché and sappy, but having been in almost this exact situation - singing at the hospital bed of a comatose, very young sibling - it still got an emotional reaction out of me.
OOO 20 MINS AGO LEMME WATCH Finished/Edit: I just casually watch your videos for spoilers and then read the books XD Btw I agree with the medicine cat names, Frostdawn is good, but Whistlebreeze doesn’t match the name, I feel like they just put breeze in there because it’s WindClan or smth.
I kinda wish frostpaw was named Frostlight after Harelight but I am also kinda glad that she got like, her own name away from that era.. I still think it’s a pretty name tho, and I like Frostdawn too
I JUST FINISHED A STARLESS CLAN: STAR. RAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok but Frostdawn should've been named Frostlight (in honor of Harelight), Frostsight (because she saw through Splashtail) or Frostheart (because she didn't give up, and followed her heart). It makes sense she was named Frostdawn, because she "lead RiverClan into a new dawen" but i don't feel like it fits her. Anyway, Icestar i guess was a good choice..but OWLNOSE!?!??! Ok...but like..."humble"...i guess he showed himself when he killed Berryheart that he was loyal..but still. eh, i guess they'll make Icestar show her true leadership in Changing Skies. I hope.
I honestly disagree on Splashtail being a weak villain. I thought he was more interesting than most of the others we've had in the past. Edit: WHISTLEBREEZE IS INCREDIBLE WHAT DO YOU MEAN
I'm not done reading Star or Ivypool's Heart, but I pretty much figured out what was going to happen as soon as Berryheart Died. I'm glad this video didn't give away too many spoilers, but I agree that I feel the ending of this series was a bit of a mess. I thought Berryheart would die at the end of the book or that a great battle would take place at the end like in The Last Hope.
I really liked owlnose being deputy. Duskfur would have been the obvious choice. It was the same reason onestar chose harespring to help heal the divine. I also liked that icestar went away on the mission because it meant that she was out of the way of harm and caring about the future of her clan by going. Also loved zombie curlflight. I enjoyed it all tbh.
The one thing i think really made me upset about the whole "coma" thing, is the very end. I dont like that when tree came to get her the second time he half convinced her, her mind screaming no when she runs to him. only for her to teleport back to starclan and forget about tree. Its like she did choose to stay with jayclaw, subconsciously and consciously only to get slapped back into reality and be perfectly fine with it when the shecats sing. thankfull she could see mothwing. I just wish we had frostpaw in the end realize she didnt just NEED to go back, she WANTED to go back. She needed to be motivated through being sucked into the exausting mist for me to feel it was necessary to have it at all
I know that Akira didn't predict that Icewing would be Icestar but I did theorized that Icestar would be leader and I'm glad my theory was right though I'm gonna be honest I had the theories that Owlnose and Breezeheart were gonna be leaders but I kinda let go of those theories after the book sky came out and cause I was more confident on Icewing becoming Icestar over Owlnose and Breezeheart becoming Owlstar and Breezestar
I like Icestar, but I would have preferred Frostdawn as leader. It would have been so much more interesting. Also, I'm pretty sure everyone saw Icestar coming.
i kinda do get why they don't want to fight agasint Splashtail, i mean, they could have attacked Splashtail, but that wouldn't stop him from then killing one of the kits in return, like if hes going down so will a kit, he did do that at the end, he grabbed one of the kits when he was trying to run away, and RiverClan did not want to risk any of the kits. it doesn't excuse everything, but i do understand it
I guessed Icewing would be leader, but Owlnose as deputy? Like what?? They legit could've picked almost anyone else and I would've been more supportive. I call he's going to be a future antagonist when Icestar dies or retires.
@@That_Yeeps_Dude Lol(not being mean),you gotta read alot more books,I have finished Every book so far,Waiting for the 2nd Grapic novel and The 6th book of a starless clan
I definitely thought it was gonna be Mothwing especially since they said she was one of the cats whose lives would drastically be impacted by the future developments in the series lmao, I'm kinda disappointed. I still think Mothstar would have been way more interesting lol
NGL I thought Star was a W book. It was interesting, cute, and wrapped the series up nicely without trying to shove a bunch of information into the last book becaue the author's forgot to mention it sooner
I think the in-universe reason to pick owlnose could easily be like.. icestar choosing the one cat who’s 100% never going to betray her and try to claim power for himself. It’s rare a leader’s first deputy succeeds them, so the terrible leadership qualities shouldn’t ever come up. It’s a gamble.
I actually think it was perfectively reasonable of Frostpaw to want to rest. She didn't give up "out of nowhere". Everyone has a breaking point.
Keep up the great work! I love your vids ❤❤❤
GATHER ROUND THE QUEEN HAS POSTED
@@Mistpool_edits-WC YES ARIKA IS A KING!
@@SNOWFlakewcueeAkira goes by she/her pronouns, so Queen.
But to bring up another point, Owlnose is a cute name.
Everybody, you gotta wake up Akira posted!!!!
OOO 20 MINS AGO LEMME WATCH
Finished/Edit: I just casually watch your videos for spoilers and then read the books XD
Btw I agree with the medicine cat names, Frostdawn is good, but Whistlebreeze doesn’t match the name, I feel like they just put breeze in there because it’s WindClan or smth.
I kinda wish frostpaw was named Frostlight after Harelight but I am also kinda glad that she got like, her own name away from that era.. I still think it’s a pretty name tho, and I like Frostdawn too
I'm glad I'm not the only person that loved chapters 14 and 15, they are some of the best chapters in all of warriors in my opinion
I hope.
I was waiting for this video to be posted. Now…….
GIVE ME WHISTLEBREEZE AND FROSTDAWN! MY PRECIOUS CHILDREN AND BEST FREINDS!
I honestly disagree on Splashtail being a weak villain. I thought he was more interesting than most of the others we've had in the past.
Edit: WHISTLEBREEZE IS INCREDIBLE WHAT DO YOU MEAN
Welp, *rest in piece to my OC Icestar!*
I mean we have multiple cannon cats with the same name ❤
We’ve had a few darkstars and two tigerstars
I'm just glad it's another she-cat!!!
I haven’t read it but I’m so glad icewing is leader I’ve been rooting for her and saw it coming!
Hi!!,This is awesome video and (edit:I finished it and good video,Don't know why I said First, just woke up when this was posted)
Everytime Icewing is mentioned, I think of the IceWing dragons from Wings of Fire. yeah.
She needed to be motivated through being sucked into the exausting mist for me to feel it was necessary to have it at all
wait we getting riverclan focus now? AWESOME
Im so happy that Icewing became leader and Owlnose became deputy
Stopping kids from saying first
I know that Akira didn't predict that Icewing would be Icestar but I did theorized that Icestar would be leader and I'm glad my theory was right though I'm gonna be honest I had the theories that Owlnose and Breezeheart were gonna be leaders but I kinda let go of those theories after the book sky came out and cause I was more confident on Icewing becoming Icestar over Owlnose and Breezeheart becoming Owlstar and Breezestar
Well the timeline's gone forever. Yaaay!
2:29 Dustfur is so pretty, her colours are like Hawkfrosts but slightly different and a lot prettier.
Yes, a new super good video! (Cuz all video's are super good) i love akira!!!❤❤❤😊😊😊🎉🎉🎉
1:22
Nah, not my boi, Harestar, catching a stray lmao
I knew it was icewing when I was reading book 3 of the series I knew that icewing was gonna be leader and I shipped her with clover foot
I like Icestar, but I would have preferred Frostdawn as leader. It would have been so much more interesting. Also, I'm pretty sure everyone saw Icestar coming.
i kinda do get why they don't want to fight agasint Splashtail, i mean, they could have attacked Splashtail, but that wouldn't stop him from then killing one of the kits in return, like if hes going down so will a kit, he did do that at the end, he grabbed one of the kits when he was trying to run away, and RiverClan did not want to risk any of the kits. it doesn't excuse everything, but i do understand it
YAY ICEWING WHOOOOO!
I actually predicted Whistlebreeze’s name and and I personally love it lol 😅
Even though every options was a bit bad for leaders I’m happy we are starting to get more female leaders
Video 7 of asking Akira to make an updated version of what order should I read the books
WAKE UP AKIRA HAS POSTED
I joined the fantom when River was released
I guessed Icewing would be leader, but Owlnose as deputy? Like what?? They legit could've picked almost anyone else and I would've been more supportive. I call he's going to be a future antagonist when Icestar dies or retires.
Wow. I have no idea what's going on.(I've only read prophecies begin and the first 3 super edition)
@@That_Yeeps_Dude Lol(not being mean),you gotta read alot more books,I have finished Every book so far,Waiting for the 2nd Grapic novel and The 6th book of a starless clan
I'm the same XD
They should select all leaders via songcontest.
YAYYY
YAY ICEWING
Thank StarClan it wasn't Mothwing! 😅
New Warrior Cats AU idea: absolutely nothing changes, but Whistlebreeze is named Whistlesong instead.
I was hoping for Mothstar but im not super mad about Icestar :}
Owlnose should not be deputy. Also, FrostXWhistle is so cute!
I’m only on book 2 arc 2….. BUT IM HERE FOR SPOILERS 🤫😜👹👹
Next time....will be the precious Mothstar....or maybe not :c
I’m gonna be real with you I think they’re setting her up to die soon, she made some very sus comments at the end of Star
Also I wanna know more about emberstar
Can you make a “ What I think Warrior Cars sound like “ challenge?
I knew it would be Icestar!
We need crookedstar back 😔
I think the in-universe reason to pick owlnose could easily be like.. icestar choosing the one cat who’s 100% never going to betray her and try to claim power for himself. It’s rare a leader’s first deputy succeeds them, so the terrible leadership qualities shouldn’t ever come up. It’s a gamble.
That’s what I thought too
AKIRA POSTED!? YIPPEE!
Everybody who can’t find the last books but you spoiled it for yourself by watching this video comment here
Yep.moving onto the next series now and I’m the person who loves spoilers lollll
THE NEW BOOK CAME OUT?!?!
Yes On Nov 5
FrostDawn is beautiful
Owlnose deciding he wasnt fit for leader means he was fit for a leader role / possible leader one day
This makes perfect sense
This was sarcasm
Yeah and he will probably get an aprentice as soon as kits are old enough like they did before
Yayyyyyyyyy
warrior cat politics are the only politics I choose to tune into
Lol I thought when I read the title "misty star for the 10,000 time?
