@@samanthamorey133 Deny the enemy's action. So kill it ouritght in that same round, or, if you can't, stun him with Bormin's hog rush, and make sure to kill it in the next. On the easiest difficulty, that ability is always ready to go; on middle and higher difficulties, you need to get kills to recharge it. Robots can be stunned in a variety of ways. Dux and the Fox Lady both have an ability that does this - and there are many grenades and weapon mods to do this. Tip: There are weapon mods out there that add a chance to set enemies on fire. If you can only get an enemy down to one hp using silent weapons, setting them on fire can help. They take that damage in their turn, but prior to their action, so that too, can kill them before calling for help. Lastly - Calculate. Your damage is a fixed number; ie. You don't do 1d8 damage, it's '5 normally but 7 on a crit' for example. Let's assume you have three silenced weapons that all do 5/7. That means that with just regular hits, you can take out that hunter with 14hp in one go before he calls for help. That Shaman with 24hp, however, you cannot kill in one round; even if you crit three times. Because; 3*7 leaves him with 3 hp to call reinforcements. So that's where you hog rush him and finish him off on the next round. Tanks can *never* be killed silently. They cannot be knocked over, and have enough armor to absorb your fire damage.
Be careful when buying medkits at the shop. The stock is limited and she'll eventually run out. Since there aren't many around the game world, you could end up without any medkits available.
This game is nothing short of a masterpiece! Fun, strategic and challenging! The Bearded Ladies Co. have done what xcom never could do! Well done and can’t wait for the sequel! 💯
Also apparently if there is a STALKER in the view radius of a ghoul and you aren't actively controlling them, they will remain undetected. This only works outside of combat. Another tip is that if you are in ambush mode, enemies will not move if you remain undetected, it will skip the enemy's turn if you are in stealth. This can be used to sneak past an enemy that loves to move around a lot and quickly covers the gap that you sneak into. Word of warning though, this will probably be patched soon or eventually, so this may become unreliable in the future.

On the medkits, Bormin also gets a healing skill (as does another stalker) that can ONLY be used in battle. In later battles, this skill is VERY useful. He can heal to full using it. I have had several fights where using that skill has kept me in the fight.

I think you should make another video on this topic, there are some more tricks to this game: - A bit more explanation on where is the line between killing 2 enemies close together without allerting the second one. - If you push an enemy (with the "gaper" for example) down from an high point, it will take extra dmg. - Kills to recharge skills are shared so is better not to be too conservative with them, don't waste them but don't hold them either. - You can waste all your skills to take down some really high lvl solo enemy, teleport on an area of your level, recharge them with easy kills, go back to the high level area, repeat. This will give you some more room to loot and a ton of exp. How some skills work exactly, some of them are pretty confusing without experimenting with them, couple of examples: - The value of "chain lightning": 1)Sounds cool i'll get it. 2)Does no dmg it sucks, worst buy! 3)Destroys all cover around every enemy hit, ok not so bad now. - "Moth wings": I still don't get why sometimes they return to the starting position and other times don't, it was really confusing at first when i didn't get the fact that you just go up 1 tile for the current turn and it's not a quick way to move around the map. - "Twitchy fingers": It doesn't work if the first bullet shot knocks away the enemy so be wary when using it with the "gaper" or "knockback mods". Plus there are other skills that explain pretty much nothing forcing you to take them just for testing since the description is so vague. Most that come to mind are all the sneaking active skills. I know that it can be seen as a spoiler, but as a tips and tricks i think that having a bit more knowledge on those skills is the biggest tip you can have since you can't respec and if you took the wrong thing you have to wait a bit before correcting your mistake and you can say goodbye to your wasted skillpoints. The game gets laughably easy once you start understanding game mechanics, and level up your characters. I played on normal, and the game doesnt do a good job at making me want to replay it once I beat it. That does not mean it was a bad game. Just left wanting more out of it once I beat it.

I just started playing this one during last weekend because of the sweet humble bundle monthly deal. I'm hooked and surprised that I actually have done more than a half of your tips, since I'm very rusty on turn based strategy games, probably last one I've played on PC was Silent Storm, and the last one I've played on playstation 3 was Valkyria Chronicles.
I would also add a tip - DONT BUY ANY WEAPONS AND ARMOR EARLY ON FROM SHOP. You get those just by scavenging. For example I bought at the begining a very medicore rifle, becouse I didnt know any better, and like couple minutes later I found the same rifle in the box. You will be better with not spending scrap at all or just buy medkits if you need it and grenades, especially those that disable robots for 2 turns which is realy handy to fight robots before you get skills and weapon mods that do that.
Another tip - At the beginning of an area, split up and use one member to explore the area. That way, you can easily hide if an enemy appear from nowhere. Once you've scan the area and ready to attack, use re-group and your team members will teleport to your location. Be safe out there!

I find Selma is the "Jack of all trades" character. She can be specced to make use of high ground, crowd control, or if you go down her passive bonus, the primary grenadier of the team. She doesn't outright excel in one area, but she can be a nice supplicant to the team.
In normal mode your health goes back up to full after combat, so I think maybe medpacks are way less important in this mode. It also makes me think that normal is easy mode and hard is normal mode in this game. I picked normal as I'm just used to playing these kinds of games on normal first as they're usually extremely punishing anyway. I don't know if healing up after every battle is really going to ruin the experience or not just yet because it appears the engagements are more like they're part puzzle part TBS. and by that I mean it's like a stealth assassination puzzle to whittle down the group and then try and destroy the group in one turn like you did in xcom 2. if I'm not using med kits to heal outside of battle though I can't see them being nearly as important in normal mode.
some usefull Basic tips for beginners - just one Thing I would like to correct you on: Selma doesn't have to be on the groundfloor to use treehugger, she can use it from higher areas as well. (and continue her turn with a shooting from that higher area ^^ )
I love X-Com style games, and bought this the other day, and man... this is tough. I'm level 27 and I can't pick off enemies quietly cause my silenced weapons just don't do enough damage.
Dismantle the guns youre not using in the workshop so you can upgrade what you want.. take the discount for the shop as quick as you can to buy mods.. this helps a lot
I fought the Horned Devil area enemies at level 14, they are all 45 I think. Took me 2 hours to succeed in my fist attempt. But the boss dropped his weapon on the second floor of the barn and the barn blew up. Leaving the weapon floating in the air impossible to get.
Nice video! Very helpful tips. I agree with everything you said except the med bot! She can quickly revive the fallen enemy and if the fallen enemy is the Shaman, that will be very problematic! That actually happened to me and I lost that game! I think med bot should be of high priority right after shaman.

you forgot to say about getting half of the hp back when they "DIE" in combat. IF someine dies in combat and you managed to win the fight, they revive with half of the total Hit point they have. so you kind of avoid using heals.
I thought this was a FPS when I saw the trailer. I saw one of your reviews and you love the games I do. I started looking through your videos and I’ve been struggling to decide what I want to buy. I almost bouts Ashen, but it wasn’t what I was looking for. I just subscribed
Take out weaker and isolated enemies first (stealth). Then, medbots and shamans (stealth) cause they are the most annoying enemies ever (especially medbots). You don't want to engage battles when medbots and shamans are alive. I like to use Bormin to takedown stronger enemies with his superpower: this way I can use two rounds of the other two characters to kill the enemy without being spotted. Go to difficult missions and take out all the weak enemies and search for scraps and gun parts. Upgrade stealth guns to the max. In loud battles retreat, try to split enemies and use all kind of grenades, including smoke grenades.
This game is crazy hard even on lowest difficulty level (normal). Be prepared to watch tips and tricks RUclips videos and read guides to progress beyound the first 30-ish minutes of the game. I usually like this sort of detail, but most of the time it feels like I am trying different approaches to a problem 20+ times to find out there is ONE golden/correct approach to said problem - eventually you will hopefully stumble upon it. This just enforces the need to look up guides etc. to progress in the game. That being said - I am loving the mechanics, the worldbuilding and the atmosphere of the gamew soooo much.
Thanks for the tips! I like the go where they tell you not to. I just started playing, and it said to sneak around to the elevator to warn the Ark.. Then I looked at the enemies, and they're all lvl 1 with 4-6hp, so I just killed them all. lol
worth the buy suport this new develeper for more games plz. 10 min i played then whent got it legit awsome game and enviorment is just amazing feeling you get from the forest theme with a mix of city's etc
Another tip: Robots have small detection radius, you can easily pummel bots from far distance and they are stupid enough to not go where the shots come from. But in that second the bot see you - all bots go to the spotted teammember location. In other words - shoot the bots from far distance, with 25% chance, after couple of turns, bots will die without shooting back on you. But beware - humanoids will search for shooter and reveal your position both to other ghouls as well as to remaining bots.
I preordered this game. I was kind of stuck.I never went into areas with bigger lvls than mine. But your tips here are pretty good. I've only one health pk left. Thanks for the tips!
All good advice but one minor nitpick, On almost every area where there is a medbot with scouting and patience the medbot can be sniped out first without activating any others. Only two exceptions that I know of. by doing so allows you to equip the antibot perks, then reloadout to bio. before the big fight.
Guys check this out - i'm on Normal difficulty, team is level 20 and i'm in the House of Bones stage. trying to figure out how to kill this Med Bot (Health: 16, Armor: 2) silently that is stationed right next to the Sect Pyro and the boss. I equipped Bormin with the following: Twitch Shot (Minor Mutation), Ancient Pistol (Level 3, +Ancient Eye, +Noatun-EMP 30 -- so this does 6/8 dmg/crit dmg), and Aristo Hat (20% chance crit from high ground). I took the team up to that 2nd floor vantage point that looks right down at the Med Bot. By using this setup and then Twitch Shot'ing the Med Bot with the Ancient Pistol I seem to take him from 16 to 4 health PLUS DISABLE HIM for a turn EVERY TIME so far. I've been re-loading this spot and it seems to happen 100% of the time over 6-7 trials now. this outcome should not be happening every time right? regardless, its pretty sweet, since now any of my other two characters can easily finish the med bot without having to waste an EMP grenade.
i've now re-loaded this save point 10+ times and EVERY SINGLE TIME i somehow manage to get TWO criticals AND the stun on the med bot. this suggests to me that there is either a bug or the way the RNG works is weird. i assumed it worked on the fly for each new trial. but this seems to suggest it doesn't.
@@guybrushthreepwood8174 I know this is late, but basically the way the games RNG works here is that once you have a set of circumstances and you get an outcome for them, that outcome is forever locked in. so unless you change something like the range of the attack or the angle then you will always get the same roll to hit and same roll to crit. it's basically a way to prevent people from cheesing and just reloading the game until they hit all their shots
I start to play, and before battle I climb up to some roof and start shooting. But in battle mode I realise that I cant climb down from the roof. it is how supose to be or I just dont anderstand the mechanics?
Here's a tip for ps5 owners: this game will run at 60 fps if you go into options and change the gamma setting to any value. For some reason, the game always starts at 30 fps, but if I change the gamma in the main menu, it goes into 60 fps until I quit and start it again.
would you say the more guerilla style gameplay your're rewarded for adapting to in xcom 2 is transferred over to this game possibly? I know xcom 2 was rather linear because of this, but I did love the feeling of scoping out an adventageous approach, then activating an attack in such a way that you would kill everything in one turn. (after WoC this became even more apparent with the use of advanced scouting and reconn abilities) It appears on the surface that using silenced weapons is this games version of that.

Love this game (playing on PS4). But Moth Wings does not work. When I try to use it, no wings appear and all I see is "Invalid Target" everywhere I point, next to Dux, on top of him, every square is red with "Invalid Target". The ability is not locked, either. So no idea what's wrong here.
For posterity: On controller the dpad lets you change levels. I had the same confusion. In other words you cant fly horizontally you can only fly vertically. You will land at the end of your turn so its for a temporary hight advantage not a mobility tool.
This game is very unconventional. I would've never guessed to go where the game tells me not to go. It's a very strange design choice to require new players to explore over-leveled zones avoiding any and all forms of engagement with enemies in order to scavenge the things you need to get an edge in lower-level zones, otherwise you literally can't progress in the story.
Honestly, there should be more powerful silent weapons. I'm getting near the end of the game and i am not able to kill enemies silently, they always get a chance to call the reinforcements.
pretty much what needs to be done is you have to fully upgrade your silent weapons and use abilities like twitch shot to fire twice, hog rush to stun, and other things that heavily increase crit chances. I'm playing on Very Hard and when done right I can kill the higher healthed hunters easily in one round, and KO shamans and others with hog rush.
There's a set amount of resources in the entire game. a few more are added and respawn once you download the DLC "Seed of Evil" but other than that no there is no way to farm.
@@johnnypsullivan8070 finished the game, ended up never using any grenades or healing since I want to save it all on the final fight. Fought the final battle thinking it was the 2nd last XD

Add the machine disabler upgrades to them also. You can take out all bots with silent weapons easily without using anything else
You can use Magnus' mind control (Puppeteer) skill to posess a Hunter, and use his medkit to heal your team. Free heals are always nice :D

Heres a tip, sneak into all the zones with higher tier enemies and find the chests with the high powered weapons inside them

you forgot to say about getting half of the hp back when they "DIE" in combat. IF someine dies in combat and you managed to win the fight, they revive with half of the total Hit point they have. so you kind of avoid using heals.
thats only on normal difficulty i believe, so it wouldn't be relevant to everyones playthrough

I thought this was a FPS when I saw the trailer. I saw one of your reviews and you love the games I do. I started looking through your videos and I’ve been struggling to decide what I want to buy. I almost bouts Ashen, but it wasn’t what I was looking for. I just subscribed
Take out weaker and isolated enemies first (stealth). Then, medbots and shamans (stealth) cause they are the most annoying enemies ever (especially medbots). You don't want to engage battles when medbots and shamans are alive.
I like to use Bormin to takedown stronger enemies with his superpower: this way I can use two rounds of the other two characters to kill the enemy without being spotted.
Go to difficult missions and take out all the weak enemies and search for scraps and gun parts.
Upgrade stealth guns to the max.
In loud battles retreat, try to split enemies and use all kind of grenades, including smoke grenades.
This game is crazy hard even on lowest difficulty level (normal). Be prepared to watch tips and tricks RUclips videos and read guides to progress beyound the first 30-ish minutes of the game. I usually like this sort of detail, but most of the time it feels like I am trying different approaches to a problem 20+ times to find out there is ONE golden/correct approach to said problem - eventually you will hopefully stumble upon it. This just enforces the need to look up guides etc. to progress in the game. That being said - I am loving the mechanics, the worldbuilding and the atmosphere of the gamew soooo much.
Thanks for the tips! I like the go where they tell you not to. I just started playing, and it said to sneak around to the elevator to warn the Ark.. Then I looked at the enemies, and they're all lvl 1 with 4-6hp, so I just killed them all. lol
worth the buy suport this new develeper for more games plz. 10 min i played then whent got it legit awsome game and enviorment is just amazing feeling you get from the forest theme with a mix of city's etc

I already do most of these in games of this nature I try to be as stealthy as possible.
Another tip: Robots have small detection radius, you can easily pummel bots from far distance and they are stupid enough to not go where the shots come from. But in that second the bot see you - all bots go to the spotted teammember location. In other words - shoot the bots from far distance, with 25% chance, after couple of turns, bots will die without shooting back on you.
But beware - humanoids will search for shooter and reveal your position both to other ghouls as well as to remaining bots.

All good advice but one minor nitpick, On almost every area where there is a medbot with scouting and patience the medbot can be sniped out first without activating any others. Only two exceptions that I know of. by doing so allows you to equip the antibot perks, then reloadout to bio. before the big fight.
If you're really struggling, trigger loud fights and take stock of all the enemies. Reload, take out Shamans and Medbots first.

Guys check this out - i'm on Normal difficulty, team is level 20 and i'm in the House of Bones stage. trying to figure out how to kill this Med Bot (Health: 16, Armor: 2) silently that is stationed right next to the Sect Pyro and the boss. I equipped Bormin with the following: Twitch Shot (Minor Mutation), Ancient Pistol (Level 3, +Ancient Eye, +Noatun-EMP 30 -- so this does 6/8 dmg/crit dmg), and Aristo Hat (20% chance crit from high ground). I took the team up to that 2nd floor vantage point that looks right down at the Med Bot. By using this setup and then Twitch Shot'ing the Med Bot with the Ancient Pistol I seem to take him from 16 to 4 health PLUS DISABLE HIM for a turn EVERY TIME so far. I've been re-loading this spot and it seems to happen 100% of the time over 6-7 trials now. this outcome should not be happening every time right? regardless, its pretty sweet, since now any of my other two characters can easily finish the med bot without having to waste an EMP grenade.
i've now re-loaded this save point 10+ times and EVERY SINGLE TIME i somehow manage to get TWO criticals AND the stun on the med bot. this suggests to me that there is either a bug or the way the RNG works is weird. i assumed it worked on the fly for each new trial. but this seems to suggest it doesn't.
@@guybrushthreepwood8174 I know this is late, but basically the way the games RNG works here is that once you have a set of circumstances and you get an outcome for them, that outcome is forever locked in. so unless you change something like the range of the attack or the angle then you will always get the same roll to hit and same roll to crit. it's basically a way to prevent people from cheesing and just reloading the game until they hit all their shots

Im on hard mode and cant seem to defeat enemies leveled 25 and up. Ive killed all the lower level enemies but Im on level 21 and stuck

I start to play, and before battle I climb up to some roof and start shooting. But in battle mode I realise that I cant climb down from the roof. it is how supose to be or I just dont anderstand the mechanics?
Making so the silent weapons can disable mechanical units is king in the end!! Gets a bit boring as there is no fight
and one thing: Bromin and Farrow have Cropse Eater skill use it! every use on dead body fill full hp

Here's a tip for ps5 owners: this game will run at 60 fps if you go into options and change the gamma setting to any value. For some reason, the game always starts at 30 fps, but if I change the gamma in the main menu, it goes into 60 fps until I quit and start it again.
would you say the more guerilla style gameplay your're rewarded for adapting to in xcom 2 is transferred over to this game possibly? I know xcom 2 was rather linear because of this, but I did love the feeling of scoping out an adventageous approach, then activating an attack in such a way that you would kill everything in one turn. (after WoC this became even more apparent with the use of advanced scouting and reconn abilities)
It appears on the surface that using silenced weapons is this games version of that.
You can move multiple times before firing in ambush mode in case you're not already in the optimal position and you haven't been seen.

Love this game (playing on PS4). But Moth Wings does not work. When I try to use it, no wings appear and all I see is "Invalid Target" everywhere I point, next to Dux, on top of him, every square is red with "Invalid Target". The ability is not locked, either. So no idea what's wrong here.
For posterity: On controller the dpad lets you change levels. I had the same confusion. In other words you cant fly horizontally you can only fly vertically. You will land at the end of your turn so its for a temporary hight advantage not a mobility tool.

This game is very unconventional. I would've never guessed to go where the game tells me not to go. It's a very strange design choice to require new players to explore over-leveled zones avoiding any and all forms of engagement with enemies in order to scavenge the things you need to get an edge in lower-level zones, otherwise you literally can't progress in the story.
This reminds me of the animals in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Honestly, there should be more powerful silent weapons. I'm getting near the end of the game and i am not able to kill enemies silently, they always get a chance to call the reinforcements.
pretty much what needs to be done is you have to fully upgrade your silent weapons and use abilities like twitch shot to fire twice, hog rush to stun, and other things that heavily increase crit chances. I'm playing on Very Hard and when done right I can kill the higher healthed hunters easily in one round, and KO shamans and others with hog rush.

Is there a way to farm scraps, enemies, etc? Or are they gone forever?
There's a set amount of resources in the entire game. a few more are added and respawn once you download the DLC "Seed of Evil" but other than that no there is no way to farm.
@@johnnypsullivan8070 finished the game, ended up never using any grenades or healing since I want to save it all on the final fight. Fought the final battle thinking it was the 2nd last XD
game is fun but there are sooooo many bugs (some game breaking) that sometimes I just wanted to throw my controller.
