The Last Leaf - The Cascades - with Lyrics
The last leaf clings to the bough
Just one leaf, that's all there is now
And my last hope live with that lonely leaf, lonely leaf
With the last leaf that clings to the bough

I am absolutely amazed and delighted to hear this song once again 60 years after I heard only the once on the wireless, never forgetting the phrase “the last leaf falls to the ground” I never knew that the song is by the CASCADES; so a big thank you for bringing back the memory ❤
This beautiful song is from a time when music was clean and pure talent
That is a good my vaforite song, when i still in elementary scool, early 1960,s, hee, hee.
Love this song i was born in1957 dont hear theese songs anymore theese are the best when you sit and reflex back
My first love was Rhythm of the Rain and when I heard The Last Leaf on the flip side, that also became a favorite. I like songs of the 1960's and 1970's.
Im 23 years old but i really love cascades songs.
People come and go, but Cascades songs stay forever.
im here 27 june 2021 27 yrs old but love old songa
Where oh where did this innocent 60s music go... ? Love the Cascades and you...
💖💖
It went by the way of the innocent events of the sixties, not really so of course, JFK was murdered and we never learned why or who. But nostalgia is always half-blind. The last leaf is always gloriously rose-colored glasslike and poignant..
i remember this song 1963.i was 11yrs.old. quezon city,philippines.
It's one of my favorite song even until now.
my god. i haven't heard this song for 40 years. loved it then, love it now.

Heard the “Last Leaf “‘on the Radio in 1966 and searched for it for almost 20 years before I found an original 45 rpm copy that I treasure to this day
Dad got reassigned to Clark AFB in the Philippines when this was a popular tune at the time.
Brings back a lot of happy memorable high school years at Wagner.
Thanks for sharing this nice song 😊
My dad used to play this when I was younger. I still like it until today.

I remember when i was a kid my uncle 's favorite play in his car radio phone
Very nice song from my father's song collection when I was a kid..
It was on the flip side of "Listen To The Falling Rain". I had this record. A great song!!
The 45 RPM you refer to is called "Rhythm of the Rain". I think the B side of that single in America was some title like "Let Me In" (?) and "The Last Leaf" was the follow-up single to "Rhythm of the Rain". Both were on a blue label called Valiant Records as I recall. I love "The Last Leaf" almost as much as "Rhythm of the Rain". It should've been a much bigger hit bit it's a gem. I thought it was beautiful and loved the sound effects. I'm sure they released other singles but those are the two I bought and still occasionally listen to. Simple, well-arranged, great vocals, and they do not sound dated in the least.
How wonderful this song is! So sweet and romantic! Nice video! Many thanks for sharing!😊☺😗
magic song sung so well lovely lyrics what more do we need brill
On behalf of ALL listeners, many thanks for the efforts by ALL "UP-LOADERS" expended .
I loved that song as a teenager. I believe that, in more than fifty years, I had not heard it. Once a good song, always a good song. Thanks for uploading it.
Their song Rhythm of the Falling Rain, in 1963, I was 7 & Iin first grade & heard it & it has stayed with me all these years & the song The Last Leaf is just as beautiful!!
I was looking for this song, it's so beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

Ronald Rose try 5 decades ago
They got an amazing voices that's why my parents loved them so much all of their songs are nice you'll love to hear every words of them short but meaningful
Read The Last Leaf - a short story of O.Henry ( real name William Sydney Porter, Sept. 11,1862 - June 5,1910 ) You will appreciate more the song. The story is simple yet meaning and lessons are very deep - goes straight to the heart.Written in 1907, setting was Greenwich Village,NY. Even O.Henry’s life is interesting. We only have one lifetime- give to the world your “ summum bonum “ (the highest, ultimate , supreme good). And that is success!
Beautiful song!
Thank you reminds me of my time ❤️
Just sixteen years old that time and a very good year for a teen like me. And Bond Movies just started to hit the movie world
Brings back memories...
I remember my high school days
one of my father's favorite songs... u will be missed pang.. rest in paradise of our lord papa Jesus
May he R.I.P.
Inspired by O.Henry's 1907 short story of the same name, this was the Cascades' follow-up to their great first hit "Rhythm of the Rain" [#2 nationally in Cash Box]. Their folk-style harmonies enhance the song's sincerity and poetic gravitas. It peaked at #42 in Cash Box and would have done much better if the other side of the single, "Shy Girl," hadn't been featured first in most markets. On Chicago's WLS, where only "The Last Leaf" was played, the record climbed to #14. The exceptional video posted here adds further to the moving nature of this song.

A great song by the Cascades.
. when I hear these tunes my dad comes up to my memory lane
I remember this song from a double date back in 63. When it came on the radio I was in the back seat with someone who's name escapes me. I thought it was real cool and would help me score at least to first base. But she wouldn't budge. After having three kids and Five grand kids I still like the song.
thank you
@@chatreepech9271 Your Welcome. I assume you like this song also.
@@Timepassages thank you
I wrote a song with the same title that is what brought me here. While the lyrics here are fluff, my last leaf kept a girl alive. It was from a film I had seen. An old artist with little luck gets kicked out of his room( it has been a while so I can’t remember the entire plot) A girl has given up on life and says when the last leaf falls on the tree by her window, she will die. The artist now dead, painted a leaf on that tree, she lives, that last leaf saved her life. The song does not have music yet but wanted to share this.
Amazing MUSIC my dear S.V.
Excellent MUSIC and VIDEO
Actual lyrics one can understand and without profanity. Thanks for the upload.
I've never heard this one before. I like it.
This was my father favorite song. He passed away this July 17,2021😭😭😭
Oh, boy...does that dredge up some memories. Sorry, CJ, I wasn't man enough to be what you needed. I will NEVER forget.
One I had not heard. Very good!
Nice song & video. Thanks for sharing!
Really a good song.It reminds me the story titled The Last Leaf by O Henry
Thank you for uploading this lovely song! This group, the Cascades, had such a perfect harmony. I love groups and the Cascades are up there in excellence. Too bad that they didn't gain more fame; they're surely very talented fellows!
They were but as far as I know only The Lead Singer John Gummoe survives. Several things prematurely curtailed their fame. The British invasion was one but then some of those bands had a similar Doo-Wop sound.
Thank you
christian Camlin o
@@christiancamlin13 John Gummoe also mentioned in a interview that their manager sucked at getting them gigs, as instead of booking them in the world’s capitals to expand their fame, they were instead playing at random clubs in places like South Dakota and all that.
Wow it’s more fun listening to the golden songs from the CASCADES !
Thank you for uploading it.
You’re cool!
I love this song.
I heard this played on a radio station in the Philippines. I never heard this song before in the states...thanks for the upload svansay!!! How beautiful it is...
My one time in the Phillipines circa 1994, I had the AM / FM radio on constantly. Heard SO MANY never-before-heard songs and groups. MUCH better than U.S. People singing on street all the time, very musical. Check out the group Michael Learns To Rock - "Sleeping Child", "25 Minutes".
here in the philippines you will hear this kinds of songs every sunday. almost all of the radio stations. :)
Johnny Pastrana ..i know the cascades song. my mom had albums of the cascades. its called the long playing album..and she had the platters too
i heard this song every morning to my school here in the PH.... to my entire high school life..😂😂😂😂

Hi thank you
Hello Armie! 2020
" the last leaf " 🌷💞
Pretty song
this Song My Peborate Becouse Nice To Hear ♥️♥️
This song seems to be inspired from O.Henry's The Last Leaf story.
Right, I had a similar thought...the girl was heartbroken from a disturbing breakup with her lover and she had pneumonia and was dying.
She said that she would give into death when the last leaf was gone from the tree but the old man, struggling artist painted a beautiful leaf on a wall behind the tree and this optical illusion made it appear to still be on the tree.
I guess the story is about keeping hope alive and also demonstrating that there is a nobility to the human race after all or that saints walk among us still? O. Henry is the same guy who wrote 'The Gift of the Magi'...he surely walked the earth with a heart.
thank you

Not one I remember hearing but EXCELLENT !!!!
Tonithenightowl It never pulled as much airplay as their more famous song, Rhythm Of The Rain ....
djjim I hear you, not all make the charts but doesn't mean they aren't good songs :o)
Tonithenightowl That's a fact. Actually this song, along with Rhythm Of The Rain and Shy Girl are my 3 most liked songs by The Cascades. I've been a fan of theirs since 1962/1963 when I first started hearing them on the radio. :-)
djjim01 I will have to look up Shy Girl bc that doesn't ring a bell. I always loved their sound but I'm sure I've missed some of their gems. I really love this one. I was only 10 in 63 but that's when I started getting interested in music. By 64 all hell broke loose with the British Invasion and the rest is history. I may be 62 but I'm very glad to have lived through the best decade of music EVER. The 60's :o)
Tonithenightowl My love of music really took off after I received a transistor radio as a Christmas gift when I was 11 or 12 years old. I would put the little earphone in and stay up late Friday and Saturday nights just listening to rock & roll music, then usually falling asleep. The Cascades were one of the earliest bands I became so fond of, along with The Four Seasons (Frankie Valli) mostly because of their harmonies, something sadly missing in current popular music. FYI, this guy was 13 in 1963. Your observation about the 60s being the best decade of music EVER is surely difficult to refute ....
