  • Up cycling an old wooden pallet using woodworking skills create to a mobile cart or all terrain camera trolley from repurposed or reclaimed wood takes less than an hour with the proper approach. This version will support up to 600 pounds and has a near perfect straight path. There are several upgrades to this cart including a double wheeled version that rides along a wooden rail for smooth camera flow over rough terrain. This is also a great shop tool that allow you to load items and haul off. Because the profile is that of a pallet, an additional pallet can simple be set on top of the attached pallet allowing for easy removal of the loaded pallet with a forklift or manually. This reclaimed wood working project requires a medium skill level an will provide man years of service.

    If you make it steer and make the mechanism follow one 4X2, you half your timber cost for track. Let some air out the tires and it should smooth out the ride too.
    And the video doubles as an easy way for a kid to make a box cart. :D

    This looks great. Would it be possible to make something similar that could be steered (the wheels could turn)? I'm trying to find a way to make a simple base for a large pop up dog crate, that could be used as a pet stroller. I have a big dog who can't walk any more and needs to lie down. I bought the biggest pet stroller available, the pet gear expedition, and he fits in it but can't stretch out. It was not designed for dogs that can't sit up for long periods of time. Something that could just have a regular pop up crate strapped to it would be perfect.

    It’s 3/24/2022. This build now costs $210 US Dollars. I should know. I bought all the parts, even the wood at HD. No, I couldn’t get used skids. Even the stores are keeping them and selling them because of the price of wood.
    It’s best to get yourself a chainsaw and a harbor freight milling machine. Start a tree removal business. Sell the wood you cut down in slabs. Trust me, you will make it! Hopefully, you’re in the south.

    Not sure how you fit a 1/2" CPVC inside of a 1/2" PVC tube. Or did you mean fit a 1/2" CPVC (0.84" OD) inside a 3/4' regular PVC (0.82" ID) and the paddle bit would be 7/8" instead of the 5/8" you state in your video? Please clarify

    • @GREENPOWERSCIENCE

      What part of FL, we are near Tampa. You could use individual wheel/bearings. The weight load should sit on top of the wheel configuration vs a side attachment.

    WOW. I've been sending out a bunch of private emails to my friends about all the money saving and tech ideas you offer. This is another one of your DOABLE projects. I have an associate that is into that also. He has a site called "John Strabismus". I don't remember if I ever mentioned him to you. He just wrote and reminded me I've mentioned YOU a number of times. SO I thought I might just mention him to you . He doesn't have anywhere near the resources you have by any means or the video editing and all that, but he sure knows how to squeeze the worth out of a nickle so hard it makes the buffalo defacate! He isn't pushing any products or ANYTHING like that. He is a real home boy. Guy sure can make some killer solar foods. I know. He sent me some. I was wondering if in your solar projects if any birds or vermin came into the path of those 400 trillion watts of solar beams you create? Also, great idea on this trailer! Especially for rough terrain video cart. Dude, where do you get the energy? As always Dan, ROCK ON or else.....we'll hurt cha bad...

    • @GREENPOWERSCIENCE
      @GREENPOWERSCIENCE  10 лет назад

      Sounds like an interesting person. The birds avoid the short foal length stuff and the super long "death rays" are never operational unless we are using them. Energy is purely stress:-) Been working 9-14 hours a day, taking care of our oldest dog constant attention, gets stuck in corners etc., rebuilding the engine on the forklift, 90000000 other things to do. I am trying follow through on 600+ projects I have written down. None are really easy hack stuff so detailed info = hard to compile video. We should start averaging 3 or more videos a week, if all goes well. Hope all is good with you.
      Dan

    Cant you find a piece of all thread to fit the wheel bearing? And the auto parts store should have bushings if not. Just saying the plastic pipe may not last long. Brass bushings would work better maybe.

    Nice build. Any chance youll be making a gimbal to go with the trolley?

    • @GREENPOWERSCIENCE
      @GREENPOWERSCIENCE  10 лет назад

      The gimbal would be for a camera large than a small gopro cam. I have a bunch of Merkle-Korff geared motors that work on variable voltage DC so because of the hefty ration, they should be smooth. Looking to attach a boom to a weighted pallet on a 100 ft 2x4 track in my front yard.

    I had pallets on top of each stacked and they got warped. How do i prevent that

    • @GREENPOWERSCIENCE
      @GREENPOWERSCIENCE  6 лет назад

      Pallets for moving stuff are temporary, for a project like this a simple clear coat of spray paint works perfect. You do not need to drench although that works too. An outdoor latex paint also works.

    Why not use your threaded rod and bolts for the axles with some flat washers? Seems that could make the build easier.

    • @mozarth
      @mozarth 10 лет назад

      I think weatherproofing would be an issue. Getting the 5/8 rod would prevent the wheels from wobbling or he could even cut the rings for the wheels so that's the only thing i can think of.
