I Found a SUNKEN VESSEL at the bottom of DALE HOLLOW LAKE - Episode 274

- In this week’s video I stumble onto a sunken vessel at the bottom of Dale Hollow Lake. I first though it was a pontoon, but after talking to some of the folks at the dock, I learned that the early houseboats were made with 55-gallon barrels as flotation devices. No one at the dock had ever heard of a houseboat sunken at this specific location. Wish I knew the history of this vessel and why it is sitting at the bottom of Dale Hollow Lake.
Nearby, I also found a modern aluminum ladder for a pontoon. If you lost this and can tell me the exact spot you lost it, then it’s yours. I will return it to you at no charge.
At a separate location, I found my third anchor in as many weeks, along with towels, clothes, and what every diver dreams of finding underwater… a MERMAID!

Thanks for finding my dock ladder! You can just drop it off next time you're in Florida. The old pontoon boat was pretty cool. I wasn't aware that mermaids lived in fresh water!
Lol. Will do. Lol. Yeah... I think we just have the scaled-down models of mermaids, but it beats nothing. Thanks for watching.
I'm a Paducah Native and my family spent many week ends around Kentucky Lake in it's early years. Can't tell you how many private and public docks were constructed with those 55 gal. drums. Even Camp Currie on Bear Creek used them.(KDWF) At some point TVA finally banned their use. Foam was the new floatation. Love your videos and stay cool down there.
Suncast45 thanks for the info. I appreciate it
It’s Dale Hollow Lake not Kentucky Lake
@@JGyourfavgirliepop-on4nf I'm well aware of where Loy lives and dives! I just mentioned the 50 gal. drums used for flotation in the early years. Hope Seven is OK as I haven't seen any new dive videos this summer!
One of the best vacations we ever took as kids really lovely place
Yes it is Cathy. Thanks for watching
UPDATE ON LADDER:
I have identified the boat owner who lost the pontoon ladder found in this video.
They correctly identified the exact location where it was found. We will schedule a time to return it and will have a follow-up return video coming out soon.
The Dale Hollow Lake Facebook page is great. This return would not be possible without this page!

That looks identical to my parent's ladder that I lost on a boat trip just outside of Sunset Marina!
@@Jenn-rb2mj yeah they are made very similar. This ladder was not found around Sunset. Thanks for watching.
I’m at dale hollow right now

When I was a kid I remember going to Lake Fontana in North Carolina with my aunt an uncle and seeing houseboats on 55 gallon drums just tied off to the trees on land I thought that was pretty crazy but it was normal back them. Carl HH
Yeah it was all new back then... houseboats have come a long way over time. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it.
Cool that you could help him find that ring👍🏻
I go to lake dale hollow all the time and I just slalom skiied yesterday
Daxton Olnick cool. I was diving near First Island yesterday.
Diggin' with Seven I love the pizza at willow grove
At first I thought that was Daniel Boone’s Canoe:) I think the ladder looks like mine, can you bring it to 5 Mile Hollor 🚣♀️😂🐳🐠
Lol. I’ll meet you there Denny. Lol
That was a fun watch, I enjoyed it. Congrats on the mermaid. I wonder how long those houseboats where suppose to last???
malyman24 I’d say not long with 55 gallon barrels. I’d say they rusted out rather quickly. Thanks for watching
I would assume maybe part of a old dock? I used to work at Holly Creek...
Thank you for your input and for watching. I appreciate it.
I want to go diving with you one day
Yeah just let me know and we will hook up
Have you ever dove in the norris lake in grainger county tennessee the old town of loyston point is in the bottom of it
No I never dove there. Our houseboat is at Dale Hollow so I concentrate there. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it.
@@DigginwithSeven the civil war treasure is suppose to be on the kentucky side of the lake in the water and close by where fort henry was at during the civil war
curious on what type of camera you use for videoing under the water im out on dale all the time like your videos
Thank you for watching. I use a GoPro Session 7 and also a Session 5. They are great underwater cameras with excellent audio even underwater.
@@DigginwithSeven thank you just got back from the hollow fishing was slow
Great video!!! What kind of camera are you using???
Thanks Terry. I used my GoPro Hero 7 Black to video this... it's a great camera with great audio. I appreciate you watching buddy.
Where on dh are the best places to dive. Staying above the cold water.
The Willow Grove School is shallow so it would be the warmest. The bridge at the rock reef across the lake from Willow Grove would also be good, as would the the shallow side of Diver’s Rock at the mouth of Sulphur Creek.
@@DigginwithSeven what about water temp and visibility
Also where to get tanks filled. We are from Hopkinsville ky.
Great dive , do u use epidemic sound ? ,great audio
The dive audio is from my GoPro Hero 7 Black... it does have great audio. The voiceover stuff I recorded in my broadcast studio using my Heil PR40 microphone. Glad you enjoyed it David. Be safe out there and good luck on your hunts.
looks like they used a cinder block anchor.
I saw that... don't know if that was part of it or dropped later. There are a number of cedar trees dropped around the lake with blocks tied to them to make crappie hides.
Where is this boat located?
In a small cut directly across the lake from diver’s island
It looks like a house boat but I’m no expert
Yeah we believe that’s what it is too.
Close to Mitchell Creek and Carter?
No this is in Robert’s Hollow
Why is this water so murky?
Freshwater lake, even the clearer ones like Dale Hollow, don’t have the clarity of the ocean.
My guess is old boat dock.
@@markniggemyer8353 could be
Make sure FT Knox gold is not there... as FT Knox is empty.!
Lol... maybe I need to go back and give it a second look. Thanks for watching.
Hey Loy! I sent you a message on Facebook
quivernockrelease I don’t see the message. Send email to digginwithseven@gmail.com
maybe that was just a raft built by kids to jump off of in the lake, and thats what the ladder was for!!!!!
Not likely. The vessel has been down a long time and the aluminum ladder was some distance away, but I guess you never know. Thanks for watching.
