From one ship model builder to (sort of) another. The BEST ship model kit is the COMPLETED ship model kit. Great job- any errors would only be evident to a real expert- perhaps literally one person in one million. This hobby is for enjoyment and you repeatedly expressed that. Great job!
Black Sails! What a show! Nice model. I once built the HMS Victory at same scale. Still the biggest I’ve ever built. The rigging nightmare I had has meant I’ve never made another ship...
Beautiful work! My cat likes to bother me when I,m working too. He recently knocked my newly built 1/72 U-Boat flying off the shelf. I now call him HMS Cod-Submarine killer lol...
Aside from the swan, this thing is pretty much exactly like the Black Pearl. The Pearl has a different figure head. There are some videos out there on how to do rigging out there if you need. But outside of that, I say, you did a rather splendid job on this thing. Also, you have a very cute kitty.! One more thing! You gained a like and a subscriber from me. :)
I am surprised that you didn’t weather the sail. The wouldn’t be that white after months or years at sea. You did a fantastic job especially with the complicated rigging of a 17th century ship
Very nice job indeed 👍. Liked the ships cat. You're brave, I wouldn't let my cat anywhere near my stuff or he'd probably eat it. I'm impressed (no pun intended) by the speed of completion. I'm trying something similar from cardboard. Hat industry do 1/72 sailors and marines....now I only have to finish the ship.
WOW, that is awesoeme! Far above my skills, as I am just starting out in this model building adventure. I am currently looking for the same set of pirates and I found it online, so thanks for that. I am also looking for some mermaids but have not seen any that I can paint like these, any suggestions of where to look? Thanks forthe video!
Thanks Paula, I'm not sure if I've ever seen any mermaid figures tbh but if 3D printing some isn't an option then converting some figures using something like Milliput would be one option.
Great video. I'm halfway through building mine now. Working on a way to put lights in it which is going to be a challenge and now looking to get the same pirates you have. I have subscribed so hopefully will see some more videos
NICE JOB IAN ,, SHE LOOKS GREAT ,, IN THE MIDDLE OF A HELLER VICTORY KIT BUILD AT THE MOMENT ,, HUUUGE BUILD ,, THIS REVEL KIT WILL BE NEXT ON MY LIST TO DO , A DISPLAY CASE WILL KEEP ALL THE DUST CRAP OFF IT ,, AND PROTECT IT FROM PUSS KINS TAIL WHICH WRECKS RIGGING IVE FOUND TO MY COST :)))
the front part of the ship , where that sailor is you mentioned, , was the toilet for the crew, they could climb down and sit astride the wooden beams and do their business direct into the water. then a punishment job was to swab that section.
@@imarmodels The (pl. ) is a . The name derives from sailing ships in which the toilet area for the regular sailors was placed at the head or bow of the ship.
Hi I just won a kit off Ebay of Henry Morgan ship, The Satisfaction. I got it as I live about 500 yards from one of his House here in Llanrumney Cardiff. Can I ask where you can get the cloth sails please. I also enjoyed Black Sails.
You mention that theres a Black Pearl version of this model with a different figurehead. This model is a model of "The Sunset" which is the ship that was used to portray The Black Pearl. The figure head on this is correct to The sunset and the model looks incredibly accurate as a whole to the real world ship
Yeah Revell did it with all their versions of the Black Pearl, it makes sense as they can hit two markets and continue to produce the kits after the licence either ends or interest in PotC wains.
The only thing that stops me from buying this kit is the fact that the sails are molded onto the booms😣 Do you think they could be cut off and everything sanded down? (my preference is for furled sails)
Don't know if your going to see this but the cannon the same with the small pirate you could have put string and thread the string through the crowsnest just saw that in pirates of Caribbean
@@imarmodels ok but if u have forward motion of the ship because of the sails being pushed, doesn't this influence the pirate flags as they are merely tied down on one end?
@@flemishtemplar3766 I think if the ship was travelling fast enough possibly and there is the question of which direction the ship is tacking vs wind direction ( this discussion is good modelshipworld.com/topic/6770-setting-flags-which-way-does-the-wind-blow/ ) but I've never really been a "rivet counter" modeller and just enjoy making them. I say fly your flag in any way that makes you happy :)
You’re a gre@t painter. I wonder if some of the con&u#ion deals with standinding rigging which is black and running rigging which is tan or at least lighter colored. Regardless it’s a real fine video and great build.
A masterpiece of modelling ,i salute you Ian .
Thank you that's very kind of you

Thanks :) yeah I have quite a few kits I "started" but then never managed to finish.
Black Sails! What a show! Nice model. I once built the HMS Victory at same scale. Still the biggest I’ve ever built.
The rigging nightmare I had has meant I’ve never made another ship...
Great show and great characters. Yeah I won't be rushing to do any more rigging any time soon. Looks great on the shelf though.
that seems exactly like the black pearl besides the color and sails. and also figurehead. good job
Thanks yeah they reused the Molds I think
@@imarmodels lol ye i think so idk.
LOL you did such a nice job on those cannons I thought they were bigger.
Beautiful job the ship looks amazing.
Thanks, yeah those cannon are small and fiddly
As a ex RN dabtoe and ship modeller, I think you've done a fine job. really enjoyed the video. Thanks.
Thanks, that means a lot 😀
Beautiful work! My cat likes to bother me when I,m working too. He recently knocked my newly built 1/72 U-Boat flying off the shelf. I now call him HMS Cod-Submarine killer lol...
Usually she's very nimble around my kits but boats and ships seem to be her nemesis as they always get a swipe :)
Love this kit. I would do a some kit bashing on this one. Replacing the plastic blocks, sails, plastic ratlines, etc.
Yeah it's a good contender for some kit bashing
Looks absolutely brilliant. I’m hoping to get this for Christmas. Looking forward to building it.
It would make a great present :)
Ballsier than a pirate to have that tuxedo cat prowling around. Great build!
She's sunk more ships than Blackbeard!
@@imarmodels LOL!
You did a beautiful job!
Thanks Cal
Awesome model, this is one of the ships that was commanded by Sir Henry Morgan, spectacularly crafted and detailed!
Thanks, good to know that about Morgan :)
Outstanding build!
Thanks
Very well done. I will try to build the same model one day.
It's a fun build to do
looks amazing. love the added pirate figures.
Thanks, I love to add figures as they bring models to life
Beautiful work.
Thanks
Majstorski ! Bravo❤
Amazing model!!!
Thanks
The skeleton looks like it was made to suit as an alternative figurehead for the ship’s prow, if not this one then another.
That's not a bad idea

Aww, thanks, Evil War Cow (very cool) I have a couple more sailing ships to do and I hope the rigging goes easier on them!

Maggie the cat loves to help, but I have put the ship up high as she was getting a bit too interested in the rigging lol
That is a lovely result well done.👏👏👏👏 I have never built a sailing ship of this size and i hope to later this year. 👍👍
Thanks Al, it was fun to do something of a decent size ship wise
That finished up nicely, you really did an amazing job. I just finished the USS constitution and I'm ordering this kit right away.
Thanks, it's a nice kit to build

Que gran trabajo, te felicito 💪💪👍
Thanks 😊
Awesome job! - did you need any knowledge of knot tying to do the rigging? And did you glue any of them? (If so what type of glue?)
I barely know the standard schoolboy knot 😀 the instructions are very good on placement and I used superglue on every knot to hold them
@@imarmodels ah ok thanks 😁
What paint colors did you use for the different parts of the ship? I especially love the color for the deck
I used Citadel Mournfang Brown which is a great all purpose brown and drybrushed with Citadel Zandri Dust
@@imarmodels Thank you Ian 😁 And were the dark parts of the hull just black?
Yeah just black for the dark trim on the hull
That would be a monster pirate ship with all the cannons on board
You wouldn't want to mess with them
I've still got to do my 1:150scale Black Pearl and my 1:146 scale USS Enterprise Tall Ship (rebadged USS Constitution) to go along side.
Nice
the front part of the ship , where that sailor is you mentioned, , was the toilet for the crew, they could climb down and sit astride the wooden beams and do their business direct into the water. then a punishment job was to swab that section.

I like Pre-dreadnought to World War 2 ara ships, but looking at this makes me want to pick one up. Looks like it would be fun to modify.
Lots of scope for modifying I reckon
really nice model and build and looks fantastic well done

Hi I just won a kit off Ebay of Henry Morgan ship, The Satisfaction. I got it as I live about 500 yards from one of his House here in Llanrumney Cardiff. Can I ask where you can get the cloth sails please. I also enjoyed Black Sails.
The sails were on Ebay and described as "Cloth sails for Revell Zvezda pirate ship" or there are a few hobby kit suppliers offering them if Googled:)
Hi, amazing model. What type of thread did you for the rigging or is it just normal thread or string ?
I used the thread that came with the kit. It felt like normal cotton thread to me

That's obviously the Black Pearl, renamed to avoid copyright issues.
Yeah Revell did it with all their versions of the Black Pearl, it makes sense as they can hit two markets and continue to produce the kits after the licence either ends or interest in PotC wains.
It's the game model as the Black Pearl. Except for the Black swan instead of the Angel at the bow
*same
Revel love getting their money worth out of moulds:)
@@imarmodels yes, I guess. But it is the same model, except for the Sean. I bought it, too. It has arrived yesterday
The only thing that stops me from buying this kit is the fact that the sails are molded onto the booms😣 Do you think they could be cut off and everything sanded down? (my preference is for furled sails)
The sails are separate vac formed parts that tie to the booms so you could make furled sails
@@imarmodels So with a little TLC I can dispose of the supplied sails and keep the booms?
@byteme007 yes, should be fairly simple
@@imarmodels Ok, many thanks.
How and what type of paint do you use for ship building like this?
I use acrylic paints mainly Citadel and Vallejo
ruclips.net/video/UnOzSz4PTzg/видео.html
I miss the Skeleton on the deck
Thanks for last reply. As I'm just starting. What tool would you suggest I get please ? Any and all info I would appreciate.
A really good pair of side cutters that are sharp plus accelerater for super glue are essential for doing the rigging I found
@@imarmodels Thanks
Let me know how it goes
@@imarmodels Before I can start I need to get paint and all model shops near me still aren't open yet. But I'll let you know ASAP cheers
well which kit is better detailed in molding, Limburg's black swan kit? or this one?
Revell tend to be better detailed than Lindburg kits but I've not compared them directly I'm afraid
very nice
Thanks
nice model! subscribed!
Thanks :)

Перепаковка нашей Черной жемчужины от Звезды .😊
Yeah it's a reboxed black pearl I think
How did you do the wood part is it real or what?
The kit is all plastic painted to look like wood :)
Is the paint included or do I have to buy it separately?
No paint was included with the kit
Maybe I could add some pirates on my model pirate ship.
Pirates improve everything:)
How close to a historically correct, actual ship is this model?
Good question, sadly I have no idea sorry.
Is it just me or are the pirate flags on top going against the wind?
The wind flows from back to front of the ship to propel it forward so the flags point in the direction of the flow
@@imarmodels ok but if u have forward motion of the ship because of the sails being pushed, doesn't this influence the pirate flags as they are merely tied down on one end?

@@imarmodels Ok, thanks for the link.
No matter how fast the ship is going, it won't go faster then the wind, so the flags would still blow with the wind. Your model is correct!
Does it float in water?
As well as a duck tied to a breeze block I imagine :) no its a static display model
Its look like a black pearl
Same tooling used on it I think
Une version en francais si c est possible
I wouldn't even know where to begin adding French subtitles I'm afraid

I like to buy it. How i cun do it.
Ebay would probably be best to get the kit
Where to buy
Amazon and Ebay searches would be best
You did a great job but a lot of this quality shouldn't be at that price when you can get a replica ship of much better value.
J ai acheter un bateau et je ne Davais pas faire ne montage

The reason why figures are bigger than ship is because revell lies. It is not 1:72, this copy of black pearl mold is 1:96
That makes sense
Yes please, more ships o’ sail. Not really very interested in sci’fi stuff.
What a whopper!
And full of sea men as well (and a couple of sea women)
720p in 2020-22 is a very low and bad resolution at youtube.
And yet over 22k people have viewed it? What a conundrum eh?
