You are right that you cannot buy a bike based on spec sheet. I have ridden almost all modern Ducatis, Tuono V4, Street Triple etc. This bike is my absolute favorite. The engine is silky smooth and it has just the right amount of power to be super fun.

I purchased this bike last month, and I must say it's one of the best bikes I've ever ridden. I've had a lot of fun on this bike and have no regrets. The MT-09 was a close contender for first place. As Dan mentioned, you really need to ride the bike to fully understand its handling capabilities.

@@davidqueen4574 I had the MT09 and it does not come close to the Z900 in handling. The head shakes out of sharp corners unsettled the bike under power. Z900 inspires confidence, rides better, uses less fuel and can be loaded up in low revs no problems.

This a great and very underrated bike with a liquid smooth engine and it has great mid-range, unlike many in line fours. It constantly gets overlooked by journo's [wrongly] and yes it is in need of an update looking at the competition today but it is still a great bike. Personally I think it looks a lot better than the MT09 and is light years better than the hideous KTM's. It will be far more reliable than any KTM and actually rides fantastic on the roads.

I have a '22 Z900 and a '24 gsxs1000gt plus. The z's engine is superior in every way. Smoothness, less mechanical noises and seat of the pants acceleration and torque out of the turns. A truly wonderful engine. Sits in my foyer in idaho's icy winters. Love looking at it and especially riding it. Had an mt09 and the Z is definitely my favorite. Will be with me forever. And btw, don't want or need any more tech. The gt's QS is turned off. The Z doesn't need one.

Ive owned the standard bike since 2021. Although a better shock and brembos are a bonus, what would have been better is a Q/S. The seat is hard, its heavy to move around the shed and it has a thirst for petrol. Also the steering lock is laughable. Change the tyres, put it into rider mode and turn off the T/C.. then it will show you a good time...oh you did... good man..😂

I thought the same until I rode my Z900 back to back with an XSR900 last week on some mountain roads. The XSR does feel more agile, but not by much, and the Z900 overall handles a lot better. The front end has a lot more feel, it feels a lot more stable when you tip it in. It’s easier to ride fast on. The XSR felt to twitchy and agile. I’m sure the Triumph feels better than either one (haven’t ridden a street triple) but I would expect it to as it’s a Triumph, they don’t build poor handling motorcycles…

It can't be "power restricted" to ever be A2 compliant, since part of that license class says: "not exceeding 35kW (47 hp)" and crucially for this case: "not derived from a vehicle of more than double its power" AND in its unrestricted state it exceeds the power/weight ratio limit of 0.2 kW/kg by being more than double that at 0.43 kW/kg.

Did you have preload setting too soft ?
Do you think the riding position could be coped with by a 59 year old , who is used to luxuriating in the comfort of the Versys 650.

Ninja SX1000 if you're planning to do long days, the Ninja will do everything the Z900 can do but it is more comfortable and has way more new tech. Wait a few months and the new Ninja SX1100 should be out according to the rumour mill. I test rode the Z900, Z1000 and the SX but ended up buying the Z900RS due to the looks. It still looks great but it was a mistake in with regards to performance, I should've bought the Ninja.

@@jimmymc10021 Yes the Z900RS looks very classic and fun.
Sat on a Z 900, 1000, and the ninja SX1000, then today sat on a Versys 1000 costs $23000 ride away , but that felt amazing ergonomically as does the Versys 650 , but the 1000 in person looks and feels premium.
Think I am being GAS driven , in regard to your RS not having thec performance of the other bikes , today it was a windy rainy day on the Gold Coast , rode on the Advance Town to Beechmont and Canungra mountain road , and back detouring via Springbrook road ( mountain rd ).
My bike was the Honda Transalp 92 HP and goes like the clappers in Sports mode .
Rode it today entirely in Rain mode with traction control on maximum, enjoyed it immensely , 30 per cent effective power reduction , but I actually was way smoother and faster through the corners.( thanks also to Moto Jitsu channel video ), so I am not sure why I want a 1000 , or a Versys 1000 or a Z900.
Today I didn’t see another single motorcycle on my day trip, so many buy bikes and don’t use them unless everything is perfect.
Don’t think the perfect bike exists , I have the Transalp and the Versys 650 bloody both great bikes , yet looking for the next bike 🧐

Rode my 2022 Z900 back to back with a 2024 XSR900 last week. The Z900 is faster top speed and accelerates quicker, it feels like it has more power everywhere in the rpm range, more so in the low end of the range, the CP3 triple has a surprisingly strong top end, fairly similar to the Z900. Albeit it’s not a ton faster, they’re pretty close. But the Z900 edges it out a little… below 5000/6000 rpm the Z900 has loads more torque then the MT09/XSR900, that was the biggest difference. In 60-120 mph pulls the Z900 chugged ahead every time, even after we swapped bikes. The Z900 also handles a bit better despite weighing more, and the Z900 has more tucked, cramped ergonomics. If you’re a larger rider past like 6’3” you may find the Z900 a little cramped. For my average 6’ frame it’s fine. The pegs are significantly higher and more rear set. The bars are closer to the rider but feel lower, the Z900’s front end feels a lot shorter and has a lot more feel which adds to confidence in the corners…

Rode my 2022 Z900 back to back with a 2024 XSR900 last week. The XSR is better for cruising, the ergonomics are more laid back. The Z900 is a bit more aggressive and cramped, the Z900 also has a little more power everywhere in the rpm range. Depends your riding style. For charging corners, despite being heavier, the Z900 feels better and more confidence inspiring. Both bikes will lift the front wheel in gears 1-3 without any issue on power alone…

@@Alex-if3sr it is aggressive for a naked bike. The pegs are quite high and back and the bars are pretty low. I personally like that though, and the fact that you feel like you’re in the bike. Very confidence inspiring in the corners. The engine is also buttery smooth, it’s faster than it feels. I did ride a 2024 XSR900 against my 2022 Z900 last week, the XSR feels lighter and more agile but the Z900 feels a lot more confidence inspiring on the corners, it tips in better and is a lot more stable. The front end feel is also very good for a naked bike, not far off from the likes of a GSXR 600. I had one of those as a loaner for a week last year and loved that too. The CB1000 has a peaky power band due to emissions neutering its mid range, if you look at before/after tuned dyno charts it’s a crazy difference. The Z900 has a flat torque curve and a very linear power curve, gives it that smooth characteristic. My buddy and I did some roll races on the Z900 and his XSR, and the Z900 pulled even after we switched riders. It’s a pretty quick bike…
