  • These delicious Guava pastries or Pastelillos de Guayaba, as we know them in Puerto Rico are an amazing treat. Here's what you'll need
    1 pack puff pastries (2 sheets)
    1 pack guava paste (block or can)
    3 tbsp bacardi or your fav rum
    2 tbsp water
    Powder sugar for dusting
    Procedure:
    1. cut the guava into small cubes then soften the guava with the rum using the paddle attachment on your stand mixer. Mix until you achieve a soft, Velvety texture.
    2. Place one sheet of puff pastry on your countertop, stretch it a bit then cut into 9 even squares. Then repeat the process with the second one. place them all.on the countertop
    3. Using a piping bag, pipe the guava paste onto 9 square.
    4. With a brush or your finger, brush the border of the filled square with water, press the edges to seal. Cover with the remaining squares then tightly.
    5. place on a baking paper lined baking sheet. Bake at 350°F sorry about 10nto 12 minutes.
    6. once out of the oven dust them with powder sugar and enjoy!
    7... careful, guava will be very hot. I recommend that you let them cool down a bit before indulging.
