  • I have been working with Chi Chi on some oil paintings recently, and we filmed a short interview about what it is like to be a nude life model, how she started posing as a figurative model and what it's like to be studied by artists.
Chi Chi admits that sometimes she sleeps when doing reclining poses. We discuss how some people don't take art jobs as a serious profession when it really should be taken seriously.
Why do artists enjoy painting the human body? Because bodies come in different shapes and sizes. Artists have studied human anatomy for thousands of years.
Drawing from life has been an artist tradition for centuries and millennia, the Greeks created statues of the human form and during the renaissance nude bodies would be found throughout religious and mythological paintings. The impressionist era studied dancers on the French burlesque scene.
In any town in European cities, you will find life drawing classes and groups, dedicated to perfecting the art of drawing the human body.
