Even after the Masterpiece Optimus Prime, I still come back to this one because of the nostalgia factor.

I received a G1 Optimus Prime reissue on Christmas in 2015. I still haven't added the stripe to it though.

Ah the memories I discovered this channel in 2011 and now I’m binge watching g1 the show and binge watching this playlist
I remember clear as day getting this for Christmas in 1985. All I have left now is the trailer... I got the Toys R Us reissue back in 2002 and loved it, short smokestacks and all. Transforming it brought back every bit of happiness I remembered feeling the first time I did it that Christmas. It's an absolute legend of an action figure and hopefully I'll have it in one version or another for life.
Even if I had G1 Optimus, my collection will never be complete to my standards. But I also have him by default because I have G1 Ultra Magnus but just the Albino Prime part

Given that even the reissues of G1 Prime go for silly prices or are region specific or both, are any of the knock offs of this figure any good?
I'm building a Lego version of this figure with trailer so reviews like this really help with making everything as it should be.

Me too. I was denied this guy as a kid but I got him off of eBay which is a bloomin godsend for big kids like me who were denied as a kid and the new versions of him just don't have that sense of authenticity about them. Actually, I never realised that you're supposed to stand the command centre up on its end . I'm also relieved to see you've got his gun coz without that he's pretty worthless .... Well almost.
He's still worth it because he's got the touch
At last I can say that my collection does not suck! Found one at a convention for $180 in original packaging minus the clipped-out robot points on the back. Very, very happy to have him.
Still one of my all time favourite figures from any year or era in the franchise. Cool review.
My misb one came with two guns, one just like yours, for which I sometimes use for Roller the other, a somewhat bulkier affair with a longer peg, I use on Optimus Prime.
I gotten my G1 Prime in the mail in today and while I got him off ebay as a reissue not the walmart one I gotten the big box like in your video. I have to say I am happy to have him in my collection and I plan to get some more G1 toys as well.

I didn't have him either. All I had was the Ultra Magnus tractor. My first Optimus as a kid was Powermaster Prime.

just a side note, if this was a 1984 optimus prime, it wouldn't have the rub sign on it, this is either a 1985 or 1986.
Your collection can be just as good with mp-10 prime

Great review of G1 prime! Unfortunately, this one is a KO (at least the box is) Two things stand out, the grey line on the top of the window, and the "formers" being in the incorrect place. This is not anyone's fault, the KO companies do this all the time. there is a lot of misinformation out there.
the box is KO. the figure is authentic.
Today I received my optimus prime g1 and was looking for this comment because I have also noticed the same about the box… Beautiful toy and great channel and reviews. I love it!!
I bought my g1 optimus and other transformers because of this channel.
I'm a 10 year old collector and I don't have him I would but he's like $400 when you said if you don't have him you collection sucks does that mean I'm a bad collector? :(

Heck no. You are a good collector. I am 13 at this time and has ordered g1 hoist (the reissue). Still keep on trying and u will succeed. Who cares of what other people say. It is what u can afford and what u can get. I got my g1 hoist reissue for 20 dollars.try your best and u will succeed

Love this, o just got the reissue from Walmart, yep, the one sought after toy I wanted when I was a mini-bot 😉 I finally now have.
g1 prime is a must have figure... i hope i can find this figure in any shopping sites im just 15
eBay is good for KOs around £30 if you want a cheap one that is mostly the same.
Yeah, they're also poor quality. I only buy originals and reissues.
Sorry, it's just that I had some really awful and poor quality knock offs when I was kid! I mean, they were the absolute worse!! I remember purchasing an Aerialbots gift set off Amazon three years and realising it was knock off, but I've had worse knock offs! Btw, that's why I only buy genuine Transformers now and I only buy them when I can afford them.

Like yourself, I was Optimus deprived but Ultra Magnus poor. My parents thought it was the same toy. I always found that if I just held a finger on the black symbol, the image revealed pretty quickly. Unfortunately, I was really rough on my toys so all I have left are fond memories and a damn good impression of Optimus prime in truck mode, air brakes and all.
I just got an original 1984 prime without its trailer, but it had his guns and fists for 40 dollars. My collection is now complete.
I miss my Prime. Mine was stolen a couple years ago.

Weird that this is recommended now. Anyway, this used to be my unicorn and was so happy when i got one, but after MP 10 and third party releases plus MP44, I've never looked back. It's cool but over glorified by some.
Does g2 Optimus count as the g1 prime? It’s almost the same mold. Or does my collection still suck
Still have my original G1 Optimus when I was a kid plus 6 more G1 Optimus all complete with boxes. I know my collection doesn’t suck 😄😂
I have a G2 version of this figure which I actually prefer. I like the black trailer better. In saying that I managed to pick up a grey trailer to go with him. I also have a reissue 25th anniversary G1 prime unopened.

My dad had g1 starscream mint in box and when I was like 5 I opened it, played with it & broke it in about 5 minutes🙁

Would this trailer fit on a universe hasbro exclusive deluxe special edition prime with mods? Im mainly concerned about wheel height/clearance
I have the resiue optimus prime without the trailer and I'm not a big sticker fan for transfomers because I try and they get the yellow paper once a while

I have g1 optimus g1 hot rod g1 outback g1 tailgate g1 devastator and g1 starscream but I sadly don’t have the trailer for optimus to add real nostalgia
I know im a real nerd for knowing this but that is actually the 1985 version because of the blue roller and the rub sign among other things
I've got this one [but the hands are missing] (it's not a re-issue) and two other primes, including the 'Albino' version, which apparently (as you said) is Ultra-Magnus, so I guess i only have two Primes. :P
I have no idea what version the second one is, probably a Japanese only model, since I've not seen it anywhere online before (or here on YT) It's too wierd a design to explain, i'll have to dig it out one day and do a review.

Now I see where the inspiration for the Optimus bot shot launcher came from! How much did you pay for him? What's 'dirt cheap' in your book?
As much as I loved G1....I just can't do the figures anymore.
Though, I do want to reget G1 Jazz, Ransack, Hot Rod and Kup. Prime...not so much.
Maybe of I can get a good deal on the Pepsi-Cola one.

AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEE! I just got the 25th anniversary edition. Basically cuz I like all my transformers to be brand new. I love my G1 OP.

I have the exact same Optimus. But my trailer is black, even the inside. (So I had the black, previous model I guess). Without the transformer black piece on the cabinet as well.. But some pieces are missing.

i brung that comment out because i wanted to see if people had a good argument that toys are better from 30 years ago instead of 3 years ago for example hftd leader starscream rotf leader prime both of those figures are a marvel of engineering where as this is not
although i dread transforming leader prime so transformation wise i like the g1 transformation

The f on formers is further left than the a in trans, that means that the box is fake and if that figure cane outta that box then it is also fake

The box looks like a knockoff version, “FORMERS” started on the left side of “A” in “TRANS”. The real one should start on the right side of “A”.

Also when people wine about his gun sideways they do realize it is a G1 toy from 1984. People compaining is damn annoying sometimes.
Let’s say if we had another director It would have beeen a live action G1 transformers movie.
No instructions? No catalog sheet? No order form for mail-ins? Those make a figure 110 % complete in my book. Nice to see it though I prefer the Pre-Rub version with the Grey Roller and missiles. They make Optimus Worth More!
