  • Friday had come, and it was time for us to start heading home. On the way, however, we were able to make a stop down at the East Broad Top Railroad in Rockhill, PA. The railroad, which had been dormant since 2011, was purchased by new owners last year, and a lot of work has been done to restore the line bit by bit. I've been wanting to see this railroad in action for many years, so I was thrilled to finally have the chance today.
We arrived at Rockhill to find the 11AM train sitting in the station awaiting departure. GE 55-Tonner M-7 was in charge of today's trains. After seeing the train depart, I was then able to see it crossing Enyeart Road in Cromwell Township and coming to a stop at the end of the current active trackage just before the Runk Road bridge in Shirley Township. I then caught the train shoving across Enyeart Road and back into the station. I was a bit disappointed to find that there were very few publicly-accessible spots to get shots of the train, but I'm still more than happy to have been able to see it at all.

God that horn on the M-7 is amazing. I’m assuming that it was a loaned horn cause when I went back in June, M-7 had its original horn back on it. But I love the video!

Thanks! It really was an amazing RS3L. I wish it could have kept it, since I'm not too big on the AA-2. it has now.

@@GenesisSanctuary Yeah. When I was there, the AA-2 sounded like crap. I remember it had a K5HA at one point in 2010. Oh well, it’s they’re engine. They do what they want with it.

Pretty locomotive. Sounds like it's powered by a Detroit Diesel.

Good video! Are the steam locomotives under restoration?

Thanks! Yes, work is underway to get at least one of the steam engines up and running.

@@GenesisSanctuary great! When do they expect it to be completed?

There are no estimates at the moment. We'll just have to wait and see as progress is made.

@@GenesisSanctuary Engine 16 is nearly done, she’s expected to be breathing by Spring of this year. Engine 14 is also under restoration. The railroad is taking interesting into restoring all of the EBT mikados, but they said no promises. Just 16 and 14, and maybe 15 soon.

@@AtlanticCoastRailfanner That's great to hear. Thank you for the update.

I am curious, the white flags flown on the front of the locomotive denote a "special" train, is that a FRA requirement?
Secondly, the caboose was flying 2 yellow flags, is that another safety requirement mandated by the FRA for a tourist railroad?
And thirdly, you really are gun shy, you jerked the camera 2 times when the engineer blew his horn in this video.
You need to visit a gun range and get manned up.

It’s almost like really loud, unexpected noises spook people, including “manly men”. Chill with the toxic nonsense, boomer. Ya might learn a thing or two

I was going to ignore this dumbass comment, but since you came back a month later to be a douche, I'll humour you with a response. Why the hell should I go to a shooting range just because I jump from loud noises somtimes? Second amendment be damned, I hate guns and refuse to ever touch one.
