What is The Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur)?

- The Fall Holidays, or Feasts of the Bible were set apart as "Appointed Times" on the Biblical calendar so the people of Israel could meet with God. As Christians, we celebrate these specific appointments and dates today as a reminder of what it will be like when Jesus again comes back to earth.
Pastor David Snyder speaks in today's video about the Day of Atonement, the holiest day of the year in the Hebrew calendar. Yom Kippur or the Day of Atonement is focused on atonement and repentance, and it's observed with prayer and fasting. Yom Kippur takes place on the tenth day of the seventh month in the Hebrew calendar.
Yom Kippur was the only day of the year the High Priest was allowed to enter the Holy of Holies in the Tabernacle or the Temple. It's a day of intercession in which the High Priest makes atonement for the people of Israel. We can see Jesus as our High Priest and intercessor in this holiday. Pastor David speaks to how and why we can celebrate the Day of Atonement as Christians.

Twenty Six Eight is a Boise congregation devoted to following Jesus. One way we’re unique is that we blend Christian and Jewish beliefs and practices. We refer to this distinctive mixture as Messianic. Practically, this means we meet on Saturday morning (called Sabbath) and celebrate the biblical holidays (called Appointed Times or Festivals). We love Jesus’ church, the Jewish people, and the nation of Israel. We’ve been in the Treasure Valley for twenty years and have walked as a Messianic congregation for over twelve years.

Great message @Twenty Six Eight ! There were multiple parts that I listened to over and over so I could reflect on what you said. Question... do you and your members believe that Jesus will return and dwell in literal Jerusalem? or are you simply speaking to the prophetic or figurative "Jerusalem"?
Shouldn't Jesus have died on the day of atonement as passover isn't even a sin offering.
@@twentysixeightchurch I dont think so. How can the passover lamb cover our sins when it was not an atonement offering for sin. The first passover proves this. Its simply a faith offering that Yhwh will be faithful to save ALL firstborn sons of Israel when the death angel comes thru. By thier obedience were saved. Thus they are all passed over. It has nothing to do with covering sin. The day of atonement is for willful sin and no one died on that day in the NT.
@@twentysixeightchurch If Jesus died for all my sins then there no need for me to repent of anything. Two people can't pay for the same sin. And Jesus should be in hell forever if he paid the wages for all my sins. Unfortunately the strong delusion and deception came shortly after John died when the pagans corrupted the story.

Repentance is central to the day of atonement as were the 10 days of awe before it. Humans don't have an
immortal soul so can't burn in hell forever that's reserved for angels who were created immortal. Yes humans can be cast into lake of fire
if they don't repent which is an instant permanent death where they no longer have consciousness.
There is no burning and suffering in a hell forever. Yah is god of love. Demons and false teachers have twisted the fallen angels fate as ours. Repent ongoing of your sins and believe in the gospel of the coming kingdom of yah on earth where we rule with yahshua on earth for 1000 years first. Lose the false paganized teachings of heaven hell
by the mainstream.
