    Two bears, they weigh 1500lbs, run 40 miles an hour, climb trees, can rip open a truck with their claws. I am glad I live in the UK sometimes.

      @amemooress6291 7 месяцев назад +95

      Friendly reminder that that's only true because (like with lynx and wolves and wolverines), deforestation and overhunting drove them to extinction there. New findings suggest that the UK may have had bears as recently as around the 11th century. For comparison, wolves went extinct in the 17th century in the UK.
      There are currently efforts being made to restore some of these species, which is amazing. ❤

      @@amemooress6291 We are a very densely populated country and already escaped wild boar are coming into contact with people and it isn't good when they do. That said, people coming into contact with cows also increasingly has resulted in more and more deaths - cows are our most dangerous animal at present.

      Or that bear gets alot more curious which lead to higher interest in you which eventually leads you to running and thats when you get your skull bitten. I'm not sure what you mean by "false move." Like charging the bear? Maybe screaming at it or throwing things at it? Whatever idiot would behave that way shouldn't expect to survive in the wild. Even still, most bears will walk away, bluff charge or swat an annoying human away, depending on the circumstances.. They live in a natural environment that supports their needs, and they understand their supremacy. Violence for no purpose isn't in their DNA.

      You do realize that the bulk of grizzly and black bear food is plant material, right? They do eat carrion, dig up ground squirrels, and kill large animals on uncommon occasions, but their usual reaction to humans is simply to avoid them, right? You can see in this video that the bear's behavior is pretty much the same as the humans. It is hesitant to approach the people and has gotten off the trail temporarily to avoid them.

    🤦🏼‍♂️ Heard an old timer once say “planning a headshot on a charging bear is like thinking you can draw and hit a football thrown by a quarterback”
    When you encounter a bear as a group (whether you know the other hikers nearby or are seeing them for the first time) scrum together raising jackets, walking sticks, packs and arms to appear like a single, massive, unknown organism. Yell, blow emergency whistles and make noise.
    NEVER run. And don’t climb trees solo. Most black bears climb better than you do and grizzly bears move super fast. Unless your life is specifically threatened (and you happen to be carrying a 10mm, .44 magnum or .460 revolver) the best usage of a firearm is for its noise. Any bear who doesn’t haul ass at the report of a bullet, even a .22LR, means there’s something wrong with the bear or her cubs are danger close. Lastly per bear spray be certain you are upwind; not 1 second from temporarily blinding yourself. Deploy 1-2 second blasts between knee level and the ground. Do not blast the bear directly in the face. Repeat: do not blast the bear directly in its face. 💨🐻

      Saying in a loud calm voice " Hey Bear" is a very common practice in bear country. It does two things, let's the bear know you are there so it doesn't get startled and let's the bear know you are a human and not a normal prey animal.
