Mom Accuses Sesame Place of Racist Snubbing of Black Girls

- Sesame Place is facing backlash after a video shows a character appearing to snub two Black children who reached out for a hug. Park officials claim it was an innocent misunderstanding. They say the motion that Rosita can be seen making is her turning down another mother, who wanted her infant picked up, which is not permitted. Sesame Place says “the costumes sometimes make it hard to see at lower levels.” The theme park also announced they are giving extra training to their performers.
Everything has to be racism these days. It just couldn’t possibly be a misunderstanding. And how can you possibly tell a persons race in those costumes. 🤦🏽♀️

In an article I read by CNN it stated that the person playing as Rosita confirmed they were saying no to the person asking to hold their child for a picture (which is against guidelines.) This performer apparently didn’t intentionally ignore the girls and is devastated at the misunderstanding.” PERHAPS the person in the Rosita costume was struggling to see the small children below with the mask and just continued on with the gesture because the person with the small child was continually asking. But, I could be wrong. I wasn’t there nor do we know everything about this moment.
Edit: I am not looking to argue with anyone. I’m not saying the person in the Rosita costume purposely ignored the girls or that she did. I’m just stating something upon observation and from reading articles. I was NOT there nor do I know what was going on prior or what happened after the mom stopped recording. She claims Rosita hugged a white little girl after, but that’s not in the recording. So, I will decide to stay neutral in this situation.
Edit 2: I watched another video and I saw someone talk about how the girls looked like they were near the yellow line or passed the line that is there to let people know not to cross. The person said perhaps Rosita signaled no because they didn’t want to encourage crossing the line by making others think you’ll get more attention if you disobey the policy.
Another theory I’ve seen is that the lady was asking Rosita to pick up her child but Rosita said no (like I said before against policy guidelines.) The smaller of the two girls looked like she was trying to hug Rosita or was being asked to be picked up which is also against policy so Rosita said no to the two parties who had children wanting to be picked up. Again, these COULD be wrong.

ITS BAD TO REFUSE A HUG THEIR BABIES MAN BABIES ITS CRUEL.
So they couldn't see enough to wave or hold their hand but could see enough to point right at them and say no and shake their figure? Makes sense
@@fullname3982 Did they though? It looks as though they make a series of gestures to many people as they walk down, they might have just been following through the routine.
Without a longer clip of them, it's just not enough context.
Exactly!!!!!
Then why did they do this to black kids multiple times while hugging and giving high fives to the white ones?
Does everything have to be racism? Like for real, let the mascot do its job. Not all kids can get hugs, it holds up the parade line.
Theyre asking for an high five. Not a hug
not all of em wanted hugs, they wanted a high five. there’s multiple videos where he ignored the black kids.
I use to be chuck E cheese and my goal was to always pay attention to a lower height because my main goal was to make the kids have a good time and acknowledge them. Its honestly not hard at all to stop for half a sec and scan all view areas, greet, and continue. The person clearly saw them. Watch again
they legit just said the girl next to them got a hug..and not to mention the person inside the costume admitted it and apologized.

How do you know that's a lie? Stop assuming
It could have simply been a misunderstanding as the rest of the video is clearly not shown, so it's really hard to judge anything on 9 seconds. It is also really hard to see anything in those character costumes.
I agree, but the only problem is, there's multiple videos of the mascot acting the same way towards those black kids.
There’s around 10 other videos of these mascots going out their way to avoid black kids, look up other sources for the other info inside edition didn’t tell the whole story

@@eddypsnation exactly.
Well it wasn’t a misunderstanding
People will find anything to complain about. It looked like the character waved at people. One time I took my kids to a meet and greet to see a Disney actress and even though the line was long the person said I have to go and goodbye, you could just see me on Instagram. My kids cried and then I realized what a big mistake it was for me to bring them there. It was a lesson that I learned very well not to teach others to idolize a character or a person. We should not be idolizing anyone. We should be grateful to GOD each and everyday.
Well said I don't let my daughter even wear clothing with characters or brand names so she won't idolize characters or people
You can clearly see that Rosita waves a finger at the mom trying to give her the baby then does a quick wave to the two girls. Stop trying to keep racism alive. It’s just a misunderstanding.

the character looked down... and waved no to the kids. Whoever was in the costume is/was aware of their actions
*If I had 10 bucks every time I've been ignored I would be a millionaire...*
Looking at it again maybe they’re telling the truth. The character was just reaffirming her rejection of the parent who asked the character to hold her kid
There were different videos
Um no don't come saying the character this and that, it proves what they do was wrong
The character is clearly not doing the gesture at the kids. If she wasn't directly looking down, there was no way she could've seen those two little black girls in front of her. The white girl likely was farther in front and so she was visible. I'm a furry with a mascot costume collection and fursuit of my personal character and I can tell you that when wearing the head of pretty much all mascot costumes you cannot see directly down in front of you unless you're explicitly looking down. Given how close those girls were, the performer likely couldn't see the motions for hugs.
Dude your opinion doesnt matter...youre a furry.
I think it was an honest mistake. & I’m not just saying that because I’m from Pittsburgh lol & I like the profile pic
