I upgraded because I bought my Taurus SEL used and it had the basic sync with the 4 inch screen and I hated it. I saw an ad for a Sync 3 upgrade from 4 dtech and I jumped on it. I’m very glad I did , works great and looks good too. Also updated gauge cluster to newer version.
Sadly my 2010 Lariat didn't come with the touchscreen. Just the basic Ford system. I upraged to a double din a few years ago, but even that is outdated now. Patiently waiting on your "Tesla like" radio review! 😊
I upgraded to Sync 3 on my 2014 Raptor about year and a half ago. GREAT upgrade! I took a chance and bought the Chinese kit off eBay, $535. Works great!
One negative I just discovered. The Raptor has a forward looking camera that only works when selected and in 4-wheel drive. I haven't used that camera in years. I just checked the the camera does not work with the Sync 3 upgrade. It could be a problem with the camera, I don't know...

Quick question I recently purchased my F150 FX4 and I would like to upgrade it to the sync 3, will you mind to let me know what brand you purchased? I’ve been looking on Amazon and they sell pretty much the same kit, but all they are different brands. It does really matters?
This was literally the cheapest one I could find on eBay 😂. It came straight from China so who knows its origin but it did it's job for over three years without any issues. The only reason I got rid of it was to upgrade to a Tesla style screen. I'd recommend just looking at reviews for the seller. Look out for red flags like bad customer service and you should be fine.

@@78oaso So far so good! If you use it in Android Auto or Apple Carplay mode it's honestly perfect. My biggest disappointment is the backup camera quality which I mentioned in the video.
So I bought a Sync 3 and converted from the Sync 1 version on my F150. Since then I left it overnight and the battery was dead the next morning. Couldn't get in the truck. Had to jump it. Has anyone had any battery issues with the sync 3 conversion afterwards? If so please let me know a solution. Thanks.
I don't believe there are any direct upgrade kits for Sync 3 in a 2010 F-150. A better option is getting a Scosche dash kit and a quality double-DIN aftermarket head unit like the Sony XAV-9000ES - you'll get Android Auto/CarPlay and a look that fits your truck!
In my Focus ST The windows my touch worked a lot better then mysync 3.4 in my ranger tremor i must say! I loved the voice the easy customizing it like backgrounds. My touch worked with my phone alot better as well say like reading text messages back to me as i am driving. It also Under stood what i was saying to it a lot better. The speed thing was just because of the newer hardware running the newer sync

The sync 3 upgrade only applies to sync 2 either 4 inch or 8 inch screen. Everything was changed to sync 2 for ford by 2015. Everything was converted to sync 3 in 2017.
I have a 2019 Ford Fusion and already have sync 3 but was shocked to learn that in order to upgrade to wireless apple play it needs sync 4 which requires a hardware upgrade costing north of $1k. That’s just stunning that Ford cannot achieve this via a software upgrade.
I know for Android Auto Motorola offers the MA1 Wireless Android Auto Car Adapter for $90, not sure if there is an option like that for CarPlay yet... hopefully soon!
The do have wireless dongles as well. I just ordered the same set up for my F150 FX4 2013 tonight. And ordered it with the USB dongle so I can have wireless CarPlay. I can’t wait to get it an install it. My Sync 2 does not have factory Nav, but it does have climate control on the display. So the one I ordered, will have Nav. Have not had an issue with my MFT at all, everything works fine. But I just want CarPlay and nav built in.

@@minecrafter4623 I went from the My Ford Touch to the Sync 3 with the Nav option. It was around 1100 I think. But I love it. Install was easy. The downside is you need to make sure you read all the directions and if you want to update it you need to use the sites that are out there to get the newest maps and stuff. My radio doesn’t have the Sync ID or anything with it, so it doesn’t talk to the Ford server to update maps and firmware. I got a dongle for the wireless CarPlay and it’s awesome. Just don’t leave it plugged in all the time. Unplug it when your not using it. My SiriusXM and every works on it. I would never go back to My Ford Touch. I love having Waze and stuff on it. I went with the Nav version for mine just because I wanted it. But you can use only the dongle and other apps like Waze or Apple Maps and get the same result.
@AutoJourney I have heated/cooled seats in my 2013, the controls are only available on the sync screen, there are no manual controls for them. I want to do the sync 3 upgrade, but would be really bummed if I couldn't use my heated/cooled seats...

I love the hardware running Sync 3, it's pretty solid! Probably why Ford is still running it in some "base" trims for new vehicles.

I have the same truck, I installed sync 3 and battery keeps on dying.

My truck didn't come with heated and cooled seats. If your truck has them it should still work after the Sync 3 upgrade.

This is dilemma, as with same money you could get aftermarker android headubit and you can add 4 cameras and have car360 even. So I also don’t know..
