My life changed too when I started doing this and putting money in stocks. The first few years it as really great, but this year I haven't felt like my portfolio is doing well. I have lost more than $40,000 from my portfolio the past four months, and it's now very worrisome.
The year has been really rough for everybody. But I've been able to cushion the effect though. Have you thought of using an investment advisor? They can make you good money especially during uncertain times like this.
Started my portfolio last year with SCHD, VOO, and VUG after watching one of your videos. In terms of share price, VOO is way up (22.25%) and VUG is waaaaay up (39.62%). Thanks for the education!
Isn't VOO and VUG similar in the sense both are investing in the S&P 500? What is the difference? I thought it is generally advised against to invest in multiple ETFs or Mutual Funds?
The best course of action if you lack market knowledge is to ask a consultant or investing coach for guidance or assistance. Speaking with a consultant helped me stay afloat in the market and grow my portfolio to about 65% since January, even though I know it sounds obvious or generic. I believe that is the most effective way to enter the business at the moment.
My portfolio has 3 segments: *Growth* (etfs would be SPY, QQQM, or SMH), *defense* (yes, SCHD or BRK.B as an etf blueprint, to counterbalance growth etf and additional single tech stocks), and *income* (some cef and etf with options strategy).
I like all of your options however I wouldn’t have both VOO/SPY and a large cap ETF due to the redundancies. As a 61 year old looking to retire in 18 months, I intend to have JEPI or JEPQ along with SCHD and VOO
My core etfs are VOO, Schd, Dgro, and qqqm in my taxable account. I will move retirement account money into the taxable account when I retire. I also own O, Vici, bac, pebo, ko, exc, v, pfe, and bmy. Also some cash in money market, cds, and a little in muni bonds. I’m hoping to retire in 5 years. I’m trying to get everything in qualified dividends. I did do a 10 year comparison of the etfs spy, Schg, fdvv, and dgrw. I compared my 4 ETFs against these 4 ETFs, the S&P was the benchmark. The second set of ETFs performed a little better against the S&P. I noticed that during the 10 year comparison the second set of ETFs lowest return was about -10% and the S&P was around -30%. When I retire I’m looking for a less volatile road. I’m sticking with my core group of ETFs for the long term.
I’ve tried investing in various things that didn't work out as I hoped. Now, I'm looking at ETFs as a more reliable option. What are the best 5 ETFs for a beginner looking to invest a lump sum?
JEPQ is my favorite so far. It pays monthly with over a 9% yield and also has stayed fairly level. The down side is that it was incepted in 2022 which means there is not a lot of history. I also like FEPI and SPYT.
An ETF with more risk and payout is QDTE. It pays weekly but higher risk because it just came out this year. The fund is based on covered calls which make money in any market, up or down. I have about 5% of my portfolio in it. It currently is has over a 40% yield but fluctuates. Perhaps you should consider utilizing an advisor to avoid any fiasco
I'm in line with having a license advisor oversee my day-to-day investing, cos my job doesn't permit me the time to analyze stocks myself. Thankfully, my portfolio is well diversified and has just 5X in 5 years, summing up nearly $1m as of today.

I like VTI,, VYM and/or SCHD with VIG for dividend growth as a complement. I added VHT and 6 utilities (AEP, DUK, NEE, PNW, WEC & FTS) to reduce short term volatility and to maintain stable dividend stream...
Thanks, Mark, for an excellent presentation on those 4 ETFs. As a 72 year old retired, stock-picker investor my focus is on dividend-paying stocks, but I do own SCHD. Good stuff!
What are the best strategies to protect my portfolio? I've heard that a downturn will devastate the financial market, so I'm concerned about my $200k stock portfolio.
There are strategies that could be put in place for solid gains regardless of economy situation, but such execution is usually carried out by an investment specialist
I've been in touch with a financial analyst ever since I started investing. My wife will began taking RMD's next year and I've been trying to move her works 401K which is only paying 8,000 in annual dividends with 800 dollars of fees into a self-directed IRA before she has to take the RMD. She finally agreed to it and the proceeds should hit her new account next week. She does not want any individual holdings, but just ETF's, so we ended up with SPEXX (cash position to access the RMD and she's toying with the idea of paying off the mortgage) which will probably account for about 50% of her portfolio at least while the dividend rate is 4.98%, then SCHD to account for 25%, VOO 15% and 10% to RIET. Once the proceeds of the 401K are incrementally dispersed, it will be pretty much hands off with the dividends reinvested and RMD's taken from SPAXX.

Good point about VOO being heavy in tech. I haven't seen any equal-weighted S&P 500 ETFs mentioned in your videos. Have I missed them? Would seem to have diversification advantages.
Not a very good combo of etfs. All us focused; 3/4 same top holdings. Needs to reduce this duplication and diversify with some internattional, real estate or some alternative.
More and more people might face a tough time in retirement. Low-paying jobs, inflation, and high rents make it hard to save. Now, middle-class Americans find it tough to own a home too, leaving them without a place to retire.
I believe the safest approach is to diversify investments especially under professional; guide. You can mitigate the effects of a market meltdown by diversifying their investments across different asset classes such as stocks, ETFs etc It is important to seek the advice of an expert.
On the contrary, even if you’re not skilled, it is still possible to hire one. I am a project manager and my personal port-folio of approximately $750k took a big hit in April due to the crash. Stupid question but should I sell some QQQ now before it drops too low? Some suggest I should to stop loss but I do plan to hold it for long term… thoughts? I am new to investing (1 year)
Depends on if your trading shares or options
If it’s for long term most people would say hold or buy more

Been hearing alot about stocks that will skyrocket stocks like MRNA, UPST, PARA. SQQQ. BBY. and TDOC. ❤
This makes no sense and is entirely mental accounting. VOO is 85% of VTI by weight, and SCHG (US large cap growth) + SCHD (US large cap value) roughly equals VOO (US large cap blend). Overlap galore. And these are all just US stocks. 1 asset class of 1 single country in the world.
VGT too.
ETFS are always a great and safe way to dca confidently into the markets! Great information
Absolutely!
Hello from Brazil. Why is (O) and (STAG) are rising like that? I have 51 stocks in each with PM 52,92 in (O) and 35,48 PM in (STAG) and I wish to buy more but I think they are too expensive right now. You think that they will go down? Since now, thank you.
Who knows what they’ll do. The prospect of lower interest rates is generally regarded as good for REITS, long term.
I have so much S&P 500 in my work 401k I have a six ETF base: Largest are QQQ, SCHD, and VIG. Smaller are IWM, XLE, and SOXQ
Solid!!
Love soxq
VUG, SCHD and DGRO
SCHD . DGRO . QQQM here $
SCHD looks good
I like fxaix. I think VOO is good but too much ups and downs
Good point about VOO being heavy in tech. I haven't seen any equal-weighted S&P 500 ETFs mentioned in your videos. Have I missed them? Would seem to have diversification advantages.
All US focused.
Thank you
if SCHD is underperforming isnt it a lame duck?
Great video
Not a very good combo of etfs. All us focused; 3/4 same top holdings. Needs to reduce this duplication and diversify with some internattional, real estate or some alternative.

too much overlap of the same stocks in 3 out of 4 ETFs

I quickly got in touch with a financial-planner that devised a defensive strategy to protect and profit from my port-folio this red season. I’ve made over $350k since then
That does make a lot of sense, unlike us, you seem to have the Market figured out. Who is this financial planner?
My CFA ‘Grace Adams Cook’ , a renowned figure in her line of work. I recommend researching her credentials further. She has many years of experience and is a valuable resource for anyone looking to navigate the financial market.
I just looked her up on the web and I would say she really has an impressive background in investing. I will write her an email shortly.
How about XLE, smh?
I have something similar plus VNQ -- Vanguard Real Estate etf. I believe it's under performed this year comparatively, but I like the diversification it offers
Looks like a major recession is coming. I think there will be opportunities to buy these at much lower prices.
I roll with:
Qqqm
Schg
Vig
Schd
SCHD - DGRO - QQQM - FZROX and FSELX.. Like it so far
My portfolio:
1. FBTC - Bitcoin ETF. - 50%
2. WGMI - Bitcoin mining ETF - 25%
3. MSTR - Microstrategy stock - 25%
Warren Buffet just sold nearly half of his stake in Apple shares. Time for Tim Cook to buy back 390 millions of Apple shares

i don't like etf's 😅
There’s no reason to hold VTI, instead you should add a REIT like O or something similar
This is all overlap and concentration. Some people just shouldn’t have a platform to give advice.
Where is the international
This is not good, way to much overlap
