Diamond D is a hip hop producer and MC from The Bronx, New York City and one of the founding members of legendary NY crew D.I.T.C. He started out as a DJ for Jazzy Jay back in the early 1980s and was at the same time perfecting his skills in beat making and turntableism, and together with rhyme partner MC Rob he was one half of the group Ultimate Force. The group got signed by Jazzy Jay and Diamond and Rob started recording their debut album in 1988 and released the 12" single "I'm Not Playing" which spawned a buzz in the underground. The album with the same title was completed in 1990 but eventually got scrapped by the label and didn't see a release until 2007.
One of the songs recorded for the album was a Diamond D solo song where he actually picked up the mic for the first time, the song was called "The Best Kept Secret". As Ultimate Force dissolved record executives got their eyes on the Bronx phenomenon which eventually resulted in the release of Diamond's debut album Stunts, Blunts and Hip Hop (released under the moniker Diamond & the Psychotic Neurotics) in 1992. The album is considered to be one of the finest D.I.T.C. solo LPs and features early appearances from Big L and Fat Joe, the latter of whose 1993 debut album, Represent, was produced by Diamond D.
Diamond's sophomore release, Hatred, Passions and Infidelity, was released in 1997 to critical acclaim, and since then he released the independent album Grown Man Talk and the official mixtape/compilation The Diamond Mine. Diamond has also produced tracks for a wide range of hip-hop legends such as Fugees, The Pharcyde, A Tribe Called Quest, KRS-One, Brand Nubian, and contributions to his D.I.T.C. cohorts' projects including the crew's self-titled 2000 debut album on Tommy Boy/Warner Bros. Records.
In 2008 Diamond signed with Babygrande Records. His fourth album, called The Huge Hefner Chronicles, was released in October 2008, which featured production from Illmind, Nottz, Jake One, and Diamond himself.

Rest in peace Anthony Mason. You were truly a beast on the court.
He was truly GREAT on the court. Historically beast was use in negative context.
ISN'T ANTHONY MASON THE GUY BIGGIE WAS TALKING ABOUT ROBBING IN A " STORY TO TELL"
My favorite player growing up as knicks fan. Yeah he and Oakley were beasts..

This beat…lol. First time I heard this I had just come out the theater from seeing Juice back in the day and a car full of dudes stopped at the light with all of them just looking like they were gonna snap their necks from nodding their heads so hard lol
Dont sleep on Diamond D flow. Classic hip hop
Much love to this old school
I may have been the only dude in Louisiana who was bumpin this back then
Same here the only white bread who understood this joint in Alabama! East coast old school is the shit!
@Ondrya Wolfson indeed ..but what I meant is that Southerners were not into NYC rap for the most part, so although you would see it in the store, it wasnt being purchased in our area like that..we had BOUNCE and other local music that had more of a stronghold on us during that time
Me Too bruh Im from New Orleans and I love the NY hip hop
Digging in the crates crew!!! Dope

Dennis Thomas of Kool & The Gang on that flute. This joint right here was the first time I heard "N.T." sampled. Rest in peace, D.T.
The majority of this beat is sampled from a band called 3 Dog Night
I'm a Celtics fan but even I loved Anthony Mason. I remember watching his game improve every season. For a big guy, he had mad handles, plus he was also one of the roughest dudes in NBA history!
Very Good
Rest in Power Mase!
that beat!

The first time I heard that beat was on MC Lyte's "I am the Lyte" in '89. Three years before Diamond D dropped this cut.

I remember seeing this for the first time on Yo! The song was dope, and the Anthony Mason guest appearance made it that much better. RIP my man. Us Knicks fans will always appreciate and love you.
Good Old Diamond D. Memories
Man Diamond D. Was the man. I remember the shows he use to put on back in the days at Home Base In NY, the one that follows.. Fat Joe, King Sun, Lords of the Under Ground, Grand Puba. And Funk flex was in the house, crazy back then. Greatly missed them underground hip hop days..
don't forget Big Pun
And big l too
Ok . But they started with underground. You don't understand.what I'm talking about.you. Wasn't there.
Don't respond to my statement. I'm speaking for myself.
@@a.k.a.theruggedmanchild9685 Big Pun wasn't even around. Please. Just a story I'm sharing from the 90's. If you where born in the 90's please don't respond.

Real hip hop Forever 💯🔥🔥🎤🎧
2024 still rockin
They filmed this video in my old stompin' grounds, at the 35th and 2nd Ave ballcourt in Manhattan. Meeting A. Mase that night was just incredible. One of my all-time favorite Knicks and a true class act in every way. Gone way too soon. Rest in peace.
St Vartan's!!! I still have the prints of the pic I grabbed with Mase and the UMCs. - Went back last year and the backboards are fiberglass SMH but the benches are the same and the left rim is still 10 ft while the right is like 10'6 LOL- Memories!

RIP Anthony Mason... The most down to earth NBA Player, or professional athlete, I've EVER met. We gonna miss you soldier.
This came out in 1991-92... First time we saw Anthony Mason outside of NYC and he came to light with the Knicks...prior to that he was in the CBA and with the Nuggets previously in 1990-91... Mason was great.
Underated ass album ⛽️🔥

Mortal Combat
CLASSIC
Love this video
That #oldskool bounce that had you doin the "running man" till the break O dawn at da club. 2K19 the year the realshit is going mainstream. @EA need this for NBA 2020 #RIPMASON #respect
I ran track and played football for Jackson high school in Queens. We played Springfield high every year. Anthony Mason was on the squad.
Not a bad track on the entire Stunts, Blunts, & Hip-Hop album. I hear a lot of new heads only name drop Biggie, Nas, and Jay-Z, but sleep on the best kept secrets like Diamond D, Organized Konfusion, Brand Nubians, Showbiz & AG, Main Source, KRS-ONE, Gang Star, Tribe, Eric B & Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Jeru the Damaga, OC, Black Moon, Leaders of the New School, Smif-n-Wesson, Chubb Rock, Lords of the Underground, The Artifacts, MOP, Group Home, Beatnutz, Big L, Lord Finesse, and I can go on, and on, and on, there's so many others I'm not naming, and then gong back into the 80's. These new heads need to do their homework. I thank GOD I grew up during the golden era of hip-hop.
2019 this is still my shit !!!
Long Live Anthony Mason, True NY Legend
I'll say this and I'll say it again the flute Killed Everything, RIP Big Mase we back Up in 2024 Yo this current squad JB and Hart got me fr thinking of these peak Knicks days again that's y I'm here again 😂🔥🔥🔥
