No, it wasn't man utd fans are allergic to Tactical understanding. Ruud used:
      - A double pivot with reduced spacing in between them.
      - A 4231 pressing structure where there were moments with clear triggers and blockage off passing lanes.
      - Ugarte as a pure ball winner and Cas as the brains, which was a good combination. Even the play out structure had tweaks.
      - Used Joshua Z for retention after that ball was won by our pivot press (usually Ugarte).
on the ball the differences where minor until he used his subs correctly and brought on amad and Mazaroui, which helped us keep the ball better after the 60th minute.
These were basic things that ETH was getting wrong.

Scoring has never been our problem in cups the players turn up more often than not and theres an above average intensity from the team. Something about the do-or-die nature of it all wakes the players up. Seeing games through is where we struggle a little but we generally pull through because of our early goals.
The league is a totally different beast though, theres something "mundane" about the week in-week out games that requires discipline and commitment, leading to consistency. And honestly, a lot of these players just do not have those traits. Excited for the future but all bets are off till I see 8-10 league games with Amorim at the wheel.

in a league format, you want a higher goal difference than other teams. if you end up on equal points with another team, the team with the higher goal difference is placed higher. I remember, under, I think it was OGS, we had the same number of points Leicester, but we came fourth due to a higher GD.
Obv, this is a cup game, so GD doesn't really matter, but you have to remember, Clean sheets will increase a goal keeper's morale - look at Onana this season; he's amongst the top for clean sheets.

I don't think the players sacked him at all this time. A few of them were pretty bad last year work rate wise, but this year, besides silly things like not stopping crosses or tracking back properly, the team were plagued by the tactics and exposed that way by the holes all over the place and the poor pressing structure from back to front. Any team would struggle with some of the tactics on show and the holes all over the place. You'd need the 11 best players in the world in every position and they would have to be 11 Wayne Rooney's as far as desire goes for a team to really be get a lot out of those tactics. The manager sacked himself multiple times and he was lucky to still have been there with the performances and form of the last season and a bit, and even some of the results in the first season when we were at our best under him.

I wouldn't say that they were 'so good', but they were much better than they have been for a long time. They still had a few issues where the same old holes appeared, but much less than normal. Ruud seemed to get the basics in place better to allow his tactics to blossom at times though which was one of the biggest things I took from it. Ugarte and Casemiro were very good though. Was a bit frustrating because the level of effort was not the same. It was Leicester's B squad and they were terrible and we should have scored at least 4 more and conceded zero, but you could tell some were not giving their all before.
Saw the same as I expected from Zirkzee and Bruno - we're transitioning, Bruno has the ball and immediately passes to Zirkzee and stops his forward momentum , Zirkzee has space to carry it forward between the defense with the wingers still wide, he's not that type of striker and is looking for options, nobody ahead of him, passes wide to Garnacho. Rinse and repeat that same situation. Put Harry Kane there and you're not getting a different result.
Rashford was playing right side and Martinez is not the appropriate LB to overlap Garnacho so he can receive it inside. Don't play Zirkzee if there's no midfielder to run past him and nobody inverts to link up.

The attacking side looks very similar to what Amorim is going to play. Anyone else see this?

All of this would come crashing down this Weekend. Lol. These players need to take responsibility.

In the last day or so we can really see the divide between the United fans, and the ETH fans 😅

Good win but we won against Leicesters B-team lads.. Chelsea on Sunday, that’s gonna be, lets say, interesting! Come on you reds 💪🏻

If anyone actually paid attention - this was EXACTLY how we played under ETH. The difference was the players actually finished their chances. Some of this idiotic fanbase thinks RVN came up with some brilliant new tactic, he did not. The players decided to show up for once.

Conveniently leaving out that garnacho was the one fluffing most the chances vs West Ham and that every player in that West Ham X11 was either signed, promoted from the academy or had their contract extended under his tenure.

Dalot didn't sack OGS; he played like 10 games under OGS. ETH started playing Dalot

West Ham and CP weren't his fault the players couldn't get the ball in the net. We should've scored 3 against CP, and another 4 or 5 against WH.
There's a damning stat that Rasmus has had less shots than some of our defenders. Yet, Garnacho and Bruno have had 22 shots each scoring 2 between them (before yesterday). Whose department is shooting? Ruud's.
Furthermore, take Bruno and Rashford out, our attackers are quite young; Garnacho is 20, Amad is 23-ish, Zirkzee is 23/24, and Rasmus a year older than them. Antony is 24/25 as well; though the less said about him, the better. They are quite young, and clinical finishing takes years to come (Haaland is a freak in that nature).
