I saw this guy at this past Unadilla national and must say.. my first impression was; “what a total woodchuck”.. but after watching a few of these videos, i see that he is all about any 2 wheeled sport and has the utmost respect for its forefathers. Our sport needs enthusiastic advocates like this dude!
    Keep up th great work!

My first bike, was a Honda Trail 70, at about 8 years old. I snatched it at a yard sale, I think for $20 bucks, I took the top end apart, and found a bent valve. After mowing a few lawns, and a trip to the library for a repair manual, I rebuilt my first engine. I cried with joy when I first rode it, as I was a poor kid whose dream just came true! A few years later at the local bike shop, I noticed a larger MX bike leaning on the fence..I asked about it. For $40, I purchased my second ever bike, it was the Carabela 125 Caliente. I think it was a 1978. It needed a chain, and a throttle cable, which he set me up with. I was maybe 10 years old, I had to find something to lean on to start the bike. Then sometimes when I stalled it on the trails, or maybe I would lose it and fall over, I would wait for another rider to come by, and I would ask them to start the bike for me! Off I went! I rode that bad boy until it finally seized, of course there were no parts available, at least none that a 10 year old kid could find. I think I scrapped that bike, but it was the beginning of a life of riding that I lived for! What I remember most was the shifter being on the right side, and I think the clutch and front brake were on the wrong side of the handlebars as well, which I was able to switch around. Those sure were good times, and I love seeing this bike again! Thanks for the videos, and the history! I went on to big bores pretty quick, at the age of 14 I had my own 1979 Suzuki RM 400. The rest is history! (and many broken bones)!!

This reminds me of a motorcycle I've yet to ever see again I had back in mid 80s Broward county Florida, It Was a TAKA 175 (rider) 4 sp. Trans, all gears in 🔻 down position, then it met Neutral, then it Continued over again with first gear / Repeat..... (was a riot first discovering shift pattern and it must have been designed for hill scrambles/climbing due to it being geared so low. Beautiful group of classics again guys. 🤘

That's the best R5 you'll ever see! That unique RD soul and sound is there! For the money, the Yamaha RD/RZs were the best street bikes ever sold!
Last night it was pitch black in a forested area when I crested a hill doin just over 110. As soon as the road appeared in the lights, it was all armco guard rail with an immediate hard right down the hill. No time for braking or anything to upset the chassis, just level the throttle and instantly pitch it over on it's right ear and hope for the best. The big FJR took it like a boss, hooked up carved the turn like a huge R1 and we shot out of there in the same lane somehow. I wouldn't expect to survive that turn at over 100mph on a 600lb bike without having done it 40 years ago, hanging way off on my RD400.

I absolutely hate going to museums like this. Reminds me of Blendzall, Castrol R, Steens C, Bel Ray, and high octane.
Also the bikes I used to race, wanted to race, and raced against. Wished I could gave ridden a 501 Maico, but the Adolph Weil replica scared me enough. What memories.

Want to see what happened when you enter a TZ750 for the AMA Grand National GNC1 dirt track race on the famous Indy mile at the Indianapolis Fairgrounds that was slightly detuned to a 150 horsepower while the Harley barely made a hundred and Kenny Roberts fought the whole 25 laps in the back until he figured out how to get the back tire to hook up in the marbles and on the very last lap he laps the entire field coming from last place out of turn 4on the main straight away and taking the checkered flag like a Yamaha was shot out of a cannon he got up on the podium and said they don't pay me enough to ride this thing AMA use that as a weapon instantly banning all 2-stroke from racing welcome to your 4-stroke world

Wow. Awesome bikes.. love the hodaka. I almost bought a wombat last year. As a loyal follower of your channel I must ask can you find a stock gas tank for a 1987 YZ 490? Seems to be no one in Colorado or the surrounding areas can find one that is in good shape. I can't stand these big desert tanks people put on them. My yz is beautiful and all I need is the tank to Finnish it off.. great video... Thank u so much for showing the vintage side of things. Most kids these days don't know that the 2020 KTM that they r riding had grand parents like hodaka and Husqvarna. I grew up on 500cc 2 stroke and a Kenny Roberts 750 Yamaha flat tracker. To me it doesn't get better than that.. PS. Just out of curiosity, do u have a Cooper?
