I think this was a huge blessing for Ben and Erin to be able to do this project. They got to use materials they don't normally use and it was so sweet seeing how excited they were about the floors and such. So precious.
The owner of this house is so precious. I pray he lives long and enjoys his paradise! When Erin put the picture of his father on the bookshelf...tears filled my eyes. Good job Ben and Erin!!!

John had such a great personality!! Covering his eyes, when he said "HOLA!", etc. It's just heartbreaking that he never even got to live there. From what I heard, he was a very wealthy, but also very generous man.
Wow does that remind you of the rich man who built big silos to hold his crops so he could rest and enjoy life and God says, "Tonight you will die." Modern parable here. This guy seemed really nice though.
@@Somewhereintime22 Unfortunately he didn't. Due to health issues and the Pandemic he didn't get to return and spend time in the home. It was left to a friend who couldn't afford to travel and/or move there, or maintain it. They eventually sold it.

I think this is still my favorite episode. I heard John passed and I wish I knew him cause he seemed so full of life. May he rest in peace and I hope this lovely home went to someone he loved who love and care for it.
I wonder who bought it and lives there now. John left it to a friend who although was grateful, was unable to afford to travel there and live in it even part-time or maintain it. They eventually sold it.
@@nogames8982Yes, when the show originally aired, it mentioned during the credits that he had died. I loved his attitude about money. You can't take it with you.
I was thinking the same thing. I really liked this one because it showed a more modern, contemporary home vs the cottages. Nice man too. I'd make him a sandwich.
I LOVED THIS EPISODE!! John was such a special soul. It's heartbreaking to watch it now knowing he was never able to actually return and enjoy his home. R.I.E.P. JOHN... gone but not forgotten! 😇🕊️🕊️

I found that a little odd too, but the clay colored tile would have looked strange inside the shower and the black and white tile didn't have the warmth they were looking for. Which one would you have preferred?
He passed away not too long after this was filmed. Due to the Pandemic and health issues he didn't get a chance to return and enjoy the home. It was left to a friend and eventually sold.
Amazing job!!! One quick question, did you guys change the windows or have the frame color changed to black. I am actually curious about the grid in the windows.
I love this home, but have to ask what is with the very small windows to the side of the main entrance.I see these small windows in a lot of homes in the US and they are ugly. I would have made these full length windows to give balance.
These windows are probably bathroom and closet windows. It's way more practical to have smaller windows in these rooms, for privacy and layout reasons. Sometimes you have to make a compromise between design and functionality. I don't think they are that ugly like you describe it, but everybody has a different taste 🤷♀️
@@dako6082 in Australia it is common to have the bathrooms at the side of your home, so the houses from the front look more balanced, even with smaller windows I’d hate to have a bathroom at the front of the house I’d feel uncomfortable . But I guess it’s what you have been brought with.
I think this is the first time I am really not impressed because when you have an unlimited budget it looks to me that it limits their imagination and craftsmanship
Presupuesto ilimitado y han hecho "esto"???? Malísimo! Claro q se ve bien, sin embargo, dista mucho de ser lo que podría haber sido con ese presupuesto! Mejor q se dediquen a bajos presupuestos o a aprender!
THIS HOUSE IS FUN - USUALLY WE JUST DO an 1800 SF craftsman cottage with 1 bathroom:"there's only so much you can do" YAWN.
